Dads and Sniper, your red rock might be the way out.
Either give it to Whately so the monsters kill him, or use it to control the monsters???

I will try to control them but that's gonna be hard, what skills should I roll to try and use the stone Grog?
But we should run away from the longer but somewhat dangerous route Emre referred to before we lose are heads.....both in the literal and figurative sense

Grognardsw is the rule when a player takes more than half of their hit points in one shot they need to make a CON roll or go unconscious in the edition we are using? I hate to see Archer take another bullet and die. Better he goes unconscious and live.

Yes in 3rd there is that rule, but there were two bullets and each single wound was under the threshold, though the total was over. We'll see what the wily detective doesDadsAngry wrote:Grognardsw is the rule when a player takes more than half of their hit points in one shot they need to make a CON roll or go unconscious in the edition we are using? Cthulhu Mythos skill represents more than book knowledge. It is a window into an understanding of the mythos and true nature of the universe. An epiphany triggered by an occurrence, words, or sight. A glimpse into forbidden knowledge to comprehend that which is before you. Given this interpretation, feel free to utilize in this fashion.

Re: Howie's Speakeasy - "Come on in"
I'm a little stumped here, guys. On the one hand, we learn very little by running away, and probably let loose a very nasty thing in a heavily populated area. On the other hand, it will surely kill us if we go down the passageway. After all, trained BOI agents with fn machine guns appear to have just been slaughtered. What is a bookworm with a shotgun going to do?Grognardsw wrote:The investigators, with the two BOI agents and the hand-cuffed Darrin McCoy in tow, enter the room with the chalkboard. Scrawled upon it are words in the mysterious cult language, also seen in Carver's notebooks, in the margins of some Carcosa books, and in sections of the Pnakotic Manuscripts.
The script is copied down and various papers are gathered up. There are fresh ashes indicating that some papers were burnt recently.
Then the investigators hear human screams of terror echo down the hallway from the underground tunnel. They step out into the hallway as the yells continue, broken by gunshots and the rattle of the Thompson sub-machine gun. It lasts less than 10 seconds then is quiet.
The two BOI agents look at each other nervously.
I'm also not sure that leaving to get the spellbooks and coming back is a good move, but it's the only thing I can think of. Are any of our spells potentially useful here?
Grognardsw, in light of the post above this one, I'll make a Mythos roll for Reg just in case: Mythos roll (08) [1d100] = 13 So close!
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

And that won't come from the end of a tommy gun.
Magic spells, secret knowledge researched from obscure books and letters, occultic artifacts of power; those are your best hope now, friend.

Good luck!

Well... you could always uncuff Darrin so he can help...

Great description!!Grognardsw wrote:In answer the investigators hear a thing which brings a cloud over their minds. One of the agents would later testify: "I do not try, gentlemen, to account for that thing—that voice—nor can I venture to describe it in detail, since the first words took away my consciousness and created a mental blank which reaches to the time of my awakening in the hospital. Shall I say that the voice was deep; hollow; gelatinous; remote; unearthly; inhuman; disembodied? What shall I say? I heard it, and knew no more. Heard it as I sat petrified in that unknown cemetery tunnel. Heard it well up from the innermost depths of that damnable hole as I watched amorphous, necrophagous shadows dance against the wall. And this is what it said:

Rolling tick for Archaeology
Archaeology 80% [1d100] = 85
Failed - success.
Increase Archaeology [1d8] = 8
Increase by 8 = Archaeology 88%
Shouldn't the survivors of the Miskatonic group of receive one Cthulhu Mythos for seeing the creatures in the cave?

As some may realize, each of those surnames are from major Lovecraft characters. "Obed Marsh” was the sea-captain who founded the Esoteric Order of Dagon in “The Shadow over Innsmouth." Not that these are literally the same people in the game (or maybe they're relativesInferno wrote: ...a client list of Ward, Marsh and Mason (great name!) ...

Re: Howie's Speakeasy - "Come on in"
I first read the names as personalities in the RPG world; James M. Ward, Steve Marsh, & Mike Mason.
Re: Howie's Speakeasy - "Come on in"
I didn't get that. I thought their New England Presbyterian-sounding names were a magical ward or glyph, a swamp where deep ones dwell, and a freemason illuminati type.Grognardsw wrote:As some may realize, each of those surnames are from major Lovecraft characters.
