Neato Maps
Post your nice RPG maps here, inspired by a post of this Dyson Logos map:

Re: Neato Maps
Awesome Idea!
Re: Neato Maps
Any time I think of maps, I'm always drawn to this one. It's "simple" in that it's a small location with only ten keyed areas, but I just love the isometric style and detail it provides without any accompanying text.
You could almost run a one-shot adventure (in any game/edition) with no prep; just by using it as your guide.

Re: Neato Maps
I'm going to vote for procedurally-generated mapping. My favorite procedure is to roll d6 on entering a room, and mark an exit whichever way the 1 points, until you get a roll where 1 points generally toward an existing exit (including the one you entered by).

Re: Neato Maps
That Thieves Guild map reminds me of The Goonies!
Nice one.

Some very cool maps.
Re: Neato Maps
I'm already loaded with games btwn here and a few other boards ... otherwise I would jump all over running a delve into the Necropolis.

I'm also a huge fan of skullfungus (who was inspired by Paths Peculiar). I love what the pair are doing with isometric maps.
Paths Peculiar
Isometric hex map – the ruins at Boulderwood Crags
skullfungus
Isometric hex map
They're both very similar to the hex maps created by Aaron Schmidt that thirdkingdom uses in his hex products (which I previously raved about, here and here).

Very cool.
Re: Neato Maps
This is some great stuff. I love hand drawn maps but I hardly have time to draw them anymore so I usually just save that for the overworld. Even then I've taken a liking to HexTML (https://hextml.playest.net/)
HexRoll also looks good if you want to go full generator on a hex map (https://pendicepaper.com/hexroll/generator/)
And for dungeons my true love is Donjon. (https://donjon.bin.sh/adnd/dungeon/). The magic item shop is a lot of fun for coming up with adventure hooks.

Re: Neato Maps
Incidentally, both Paths and Skullfungus are my friends. Skullfungus and I hang out at regular intervals. And agreed, they make great maps. They are both the type of guy who can (and often do) just grab a napkin at the pub and start jotting down something.dmw71 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 9:59 pmI'm also a huge fan of skullfungus (who was inspired by Paths Peculiar). Maybe not all, but many do.
