Lurkers From Beyond (ooc and questions V)
Re: Lurkers From Beyond (ooc and questions V)
Thanks. That should help Grothnak live an extra minute or two.
BTW, does our position at the top of a ledge the monsters are trying to climb up to give us any to-hit bonus?

Thanks. Sorry for the hold up! Had a RL issue that demanded a lot of time, but that's over now.Inferno wrote:Moving it along.
I NPCed Urdur based on his last post: supporting Hoom's efforts at deception.

Question: is Urdur strong enough to grab the cultist's hand (to "help" him down the rope), but then pull him down when he's off balance (hopefully dropping him all the way down)? Urdur's Strength is 5 right now, so if that would require a Strength check I don't think he should do it.
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

Hi Socratic,
Glad you're back and that all is well.

It does require a Strength check, with bonuses due to the element of surprise. It doesn't require a "to hit" roll as Urdur is offering a "helping hand."SocraticLawyer wrote: Question: is Urdur strong enough to grab the cultist's hand (to "help" him down the rope), but then pull him down when he's off balance (hopefully dropping him all the way down)? Happy birthday.
Please link me a d20 to hit roll. Fyi, there will be bonuses for the element of surprise.

Re: Lurkers From Beyond (ooc and questions V)
You guys think its worth it for Urdur to try to cast Blindness on this guy? Then maybe try again with the push off the ledge?
EDIT: Or he could just try to stab the guy in the face....

Re: Lurkers From Beyond (ooc and questions V)
Just stick the guy with the pointy end. He's unarmored and a normal NPC. He'll go down quick if we can get a hit on him.

I assume he can do this since it’s only 5 feet across?
Please roll an Ability Check vs Dexterity on 1d20 to leap across.
Failure means he can't attack this round.
Critical failure (a 20) means he misses the ledge.
Thanks. Good luck!

Maybe he can take some of the climbing monsters with him on the way down.drpete wrote:Pip will continue to help Ingrid move up. When he gets to the villagers, he will shake them, and shout for them to "Keep Moving! Your only hope is to Keep Going! We will protect you!"
Climb Walls (86%) [1d100] = 96
Uh oh...

Re: Lurkers From Beyond (ooc and questions V)
Or at least distract a few... There's water down there, right? Right...?Zhym wrote: Maybe he can take some of the climbing monsters with him on the way down.
Re: Lurkers From Beyond (ooc and questions V)
Even if the water halves the damage, it's still too much.
Condolences, drpete.

Pip, nooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Telkis has no idea this happened, having been otherwise occupied when the monk hurtled past.

agree! RIP PIP!
Re: Lurkers From Beyond (ooc and questions V)
What are the rules on climbing, again? I haven't been paying close enough attention, but I'm wondering if Pip got penalized for being a monk.
My theory, unsupported by knowledge or facts at the moment: non-thief climbers don't have to roll, so have no chance of falling. Thieves (and monks) are better climbers, so they get a roll, and thus have a chance of falling? Am I getting that right, or am I misunderstanding the climbing mechanics?
