The investigation continues.....

[OGRE MAGE]

The odd couple of Orc and Elf descend the rope and are instantly horrified by what their night vision reveals to them. Only the narrow 15' hallway currently separates them from a huge and hideous monster.

This humanoid shaped beast is about 9 feet tall with a head and feathers that resemble a vultures. It has huge claws and a voracious, snapping beak. It's smell is nearly as bad as its frightening looks. It is simply tearing around in the next room, making lots of irritating screeching noises.

Can the monster fit in the narrow 15 foot long corridor?

My. A Veritable House of Horrors," the refined beast mused.
"Join Us, Won't You?" he softly called up the shaft to the others.

It would be a tight squeeze for the beast but, you get the impression that it could get at you with little problem.

There would not be a lot of room to fight at the base of the shaft, however.

I can repost the map when I get home.

The elf looks at the size of the corridor to judge if casting Arneson's Amazing Aggrandisement on Ugghra is possible. Is yes, he does so.

If not, Orando casts Metzner's Myriad of Mirror Images on himself.

Ozwaldus will wait until a party member with a light source enters the shaft, then will invisibly follow. He's not willing to face whatever is making that noise in utter darkness. It would utterly destroy the buzz he has going right now.

I had a great plan! - then realized without being able to see it was useless. Being human is hard.

As everything but humans seem to be able to see in the dark, the ranger takes out a torch and lights it. "Can't fight what I can't see and it sounds like any surprise that was hoped for by advancing in the dark has not come to pass."

The monk waits ready with her sling, watching as the others descend, fearful of whatever horror is making that hideous noise.

Sir Ugghra bravely advanced down the hall toward this fearsome monster when...

Determining that an enlarged Ugghra can negotiate the corridors down here, Orando casts the spell.

"What?" said the refined gentle-orc as Orando placed a hex upon him.

Suddenly, a startling and most shocking transformation overtook him! Away from the sight of those who had not yet descended the shaft, his form detonated upward, convulsing as it grew to proportions bloated, enormous and inhuman. He cried out in pain as his mind and soul somehow seemed to undergo a dramatic transformation as well! The elf witch's unwanted enchantment must have had other, insidious purposes, because Sir Ugghra's noble visage was likewise changed; overtaken and twisted with an aspect that utterly lacked elegance and refinement. It was one of cruelty and hate now, a brutal expression that rendered Sir Ugghra almost unrecognizable as the man they once knew.

This gigantic, barbarous, monstrous Ugghra's cry of pain was likewise altered, mid shout, into a roar of primal joy and malice, “RRRRAAAUUUUGGHHHH!!!”

"AT LAST!" he bellowed most noisily. "FREE AGAIN!
"IT'S A GOOD THING THAT OLD FOOL IS DEAD," he insisted, apparently referring to the late Mr. Odilo. "I'D HAVE SNAPPED HIS FUCKING NECK FOR WHAT HE DARED DO TO ME!"

The repulsive horror looked down at Orando. “THANK YOU, YOU MINCING FAGGOT. FOR THAT, I SHAN'T MURDER YOU TODAY."
It glanced at the tunnel under the altar and barked, "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU BLOODY IDIOTS HAVEN'T PROGRESSED 10 FEET WITHOUT ME!"
It sniffed the air. "AT LEAST YOU'VE BRUNG ME SOMETHING TO KILL. THERE'S A GOOD GIRL."

Then, in manner most unbecoming a gentleman, and forsaking all chivalric laws of armed combat, it loped down the hall toward the other giant monster like some feral beast, holding the sacred two-handed sword of many generations of his good family like a dagger, and, seemingly possessed by the devil, leapt out at the vulture animal with murderous glee in its eyes and on its lips.

Ugghra Monster: To Hit: [1d20+6] = 19+6 = 25, Damage vs. L: [3d6+9] = 11+9 = 20

• If the thing sees Krual Caine coming, he'll fight it from the edge of the tunnel to hamper it. Otherwise, he'll try to surprise it.

"RAAAUUUGHGGHGHH!" the ghastly giant monster thundered with merry hatred. "FREE AGAIN."

Orando smirks as he finishes his magic spell, turning Sir Ugghra into............something else.

Krual Caine bellows out some insults and hatred before rushing in at the demonic vulture-like creature. He squeezes through the narrow hallway, finding it far to confining to fight from properly, while his constant shouting most certainly eliminates any chance of surprise. He charges the monster just as it turns to attack him and a simultaneous barrage of blows ensues. The two huge combatants heads nearly touch the ceiling of this ghastly chamber, but that doesn't slow their fury. The demonic creature rakes with its claws and bites into Caine, causing multiple minor wounds.14 dam The giant half monster retaliates by plunging his massive sword deep into the creatures guts. Both of them let out screams of pain but each continue with their violent attacks.

Epi lights a torch again and quickly slides down the rope. She shudders when she sees the look of pride on Orando's face and then notices the perverted, mutated giant formally known as Ugghra. She hopes the two newest members of the group are ready for what they are about to witness.

The monk descends the rope next, into the hellish nightmare below. Father D and Ozy await the landing to clear so they can also enter the shaft. Brother Tomas looks very worried.

Fortunately Epi has seen Krual Caine before, else she might not be able to determine which monstrous creature in front of her to attack. She draws her long sword and charges down the hallway. Alas she slips on the grime covered floor and her swing goes well wide of her target.

Attack: [1d20+3] = 7+3 = 10
Damage: I suspect not

Oh, boy. Gentlemen, I need to warn you before you descend. Sir Ugghra...Sir Ugghra is not currently Sir Ugghra. Orando has cast a spell upon him turning the normally refined man into a bestial...monster. He is profane and violent and I would recommend not getting too close to him...it. Whatever is down there must be a formidable foe indeed if Orando has seen fit to unleash Krual Caine upon it. After giving his companions a heads-up, he will descend to see what awaits them below.

Angella, suddenly finding herself below ground inexplicably, waits the outcome of the fierce dual taking place. Seeing the demon attack she pales. "I have no enchanted weapon to strike the evil ones!" she cries alarmed

Krual Caine, half-human monster:

The heinous, blasphemous atrocity stepped back and licked the vulture demon's blood from his sacred sword with a lascivious, black tongue. "HAHR! YOU TASTE JUST LIKE CHICKEN," the despicable horror laughed.

Then the disgusting thing that had appeared immediately in the wake of the trickster mage's spell resumed his perpetration of savage, joyous murder.

The monster is currently inside the pentagram but, it was flailing around all over the room earlier, indicating that it is not confined to this circle of obvious evil.

Orando, conjurer

The elven mage barks mystic grammar and weaves an arcane symbol in the air, casting Metzner's Myriad of Mirror Images. Six Orando's appear, hopefully to cause confusion for the demon-bird and saving the real Caine from attack.

Mirror Image number [1d100] = 59 +3 for level. 59= 3 images, +3 for level = 6 total.
