Re: Howie's Speakeasy - "Come on in"
If you google the name and date, you'll often come up with bibliographic information like table of contents, links to some of the now public domain stories, and maybe scans. It varies.makken123Tabs wrote:Thanks, Socrates and Mantis.
Anyone know of a link, to a scan of the insides, for these magazines?

Nice small world indeed. Do you have a fact to face group that you play with in Jefferson?Mant72 wrote:Hey DadsAngry,
I see you're in Lawrenceville. I grew up in Lawrenceville. I'm in Jefferson, GA. now. Small world.
Re: Howie's Speakeasy - "Come on in"
Hi,
I’m going to be traveling for work again.
I may not be able to post. I'll be back Friday.
If I'm holding things up, please NPC my character. Archer wants to visit McCoy alone. None of the party will pass as hired muscle, which is what Archer needs for his play.
With a BOI double-tail, Archer should be safe.
Also, separating Archer will prevent my absence from slowing down everyone else.
Thanks!

Sorry about my slow posting this week, RL has been weird. I'll do a legit post for Reginald tomorrow. He does plan to invite the MU crew to NYC.
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

You been to John Hay Library, Grognardsw?[/spoiler]
I live about an hour from Providence, so over the years I've been to the library and other Lovecraft spots.

Re: Howie's Speakeasy - "Come on in"
A reminder for newer players:
Skill Increase Opportunities
For those who make successful skill rolls, you may try to improve the skill by rolling above your skill stat. If successful, roll 1d8 and add that number to the skill. Please PM me the link to the roll and point to the skill's successful use.
This opportunity to increase a skill can only be done once per IC day per skill. So if you successfully use a skill three times in one day, you still only roll once. The increase die differs from the book because the volume of opportunity is higher. Thanks.

Happened on this, an E. Hoffman Price tale (not good IMO), which is scanned from Weird Tales. There is an index which cites The Unnamable--interesting to have a peek inside the magazine.

Re: Howie's Speakeasy - "Come on in"
Good discussion of possible theories. I think its valuable to set forth theories and hypothesis that can be acted upon and tested. The long-form nature of PbP can slow momentum in analyzing investigatory clues, so feel free to put ideas in The Investigator's Notebook thread.SocraticLawyer wrote:Reginald Wilkins, bookdealer
Reginald ponders Carcosa's strange words, and their strang meaning. "He comes to reality, unknowing chattel,"he says, more to himself than anyone else. "Who comes? Surely not Carcosa himself...." At first, Reginald wonders at the grammar of the phrase: is the chattel unknowing? Or is "he?" Or is it "reality" that is "unknowing chattel?" Or is the "unknowing chattel" a case of direct address, perhaps an insult to the reader, calling the reader an unknowing chattel? Perhaps all of the above....?
Reginald thinks. He tries to remember the name he discovered in Egyptian. Nyarlothotep. Could he be the one who "comes?" The name means "there is no peace (rest) at the gate." What would it mean for such an entity to "come to reality?" And what of Selene, the moon goddess? What is her relationship to this Nyarlothotep?
And how does the mysterious crystal fit into all this? Reginald knows now that magick is real, and that Gates can allow for travel between places, but how does this fact fit into Randolph's experience with the crystal? Randolph didn't experience Gate-travel the same way Reginald did.
It seems clear that Carcosa is preparing for someone, or something, to enter this world. How do the cult murders fit into this plan?
Reginald shakes his head. He has more questions than answers. When the time comes, he will travel with the others to the Biltmore, lost in thought.

This could come in handy for when we follow up Carcosa's connection with Ford Real Estate Holdings.

Why "go to jail", though? "Go to insane asylum" is where it's at!
