They Who Dwell in Shadow (ooc and questions lll)

Sorry, Socratic. This game is hard on pets.

Re: They Who Dwell in Shadow (ooc and questions lll)
The priest is in the doorway, right? Would Grothnak be able to fire at him if Grothnak moved to a southerly spot on the stairs?
Re: They Who Dwell in Shadow (ooc and questions lll)
Unfortunately, no, as per here, emphasis added:
Descending the stairs is faster than climbing them, fyi.

Strangely, it stands before the closed door to the bell tower.
No wait.
It's not a statue.
It's alive!
It's the hooded priest. He could only be Father Abramos (FA), the shepherd of Briarsgate's flock.

Re: They Who Dwell in Shadow (ooc and questions lll)
Thanks.
Is there any point to making an attack roll for Grothnak this round? I assume one cannot charge through a closed door.

Poor Mittens. As they say, the dice giveth, and the dice taketh away....
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

Better them than us!
Re: They Who Dwell in Shadow (ooc and questions lll)
I'll give Avril/ToniXX til tomorrow morning, and then I gotta move this along.

Sorry, ToniXX. Movin' it along.
Also...
Next round, Bo can open the door to allow Pelias and Grothnak to charge through it. And not a moment too soon!

Sorry, OM. With 5 segments per transformation, and some flying movement between them, this can't all get done in one round, let alone opening a door too.OGRE MAGE wrote:Bo foolishly leaps off of the steps and into the shaft one last time. As his huge bear form plummets downward, he changes himself back into a sparrow. He flies towards the battle as quickly as possible, hoping to see that his friends yet live.
edit: If he gets to the closed door before the others, he reverts back to human form and throws it open just as the fighters are ready to charge through it.

No problem.
I apologize for trying to do too much stuff in the same round all the time, I am just an excitable boy I guess.

Grothnak is too busy killing he dead to chat, but I doubt the angry mob is after anyone other than us.

Ya, I'm not sure what it will accomplish if anything. I doubt it will do much good to try and talk to them now.
It might not be a bad idea to have someone behind them as they enter and start killing us though.

Most of them are level-0 mooks. The bigger question is how to stop them without killing everyone in town.

Hi, OM. Does OOC Grothnak count as "hearing otherwise?"OGRE MAGE wrote: Unless he hears otherwise, the druid turns back into a bird and flies out of the window that he previously used to exit the church.
Thanks.

Well, I guess that solves that.

Warren Zevon rocks!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Re: They Who Dwell in Shadow (ooc and questions lll)
So.
We're out of spells, three of us are unconscious, two of those three are bleeding out, everyone but Grothnak is in single digit HP at best, and we have an angry mob on the way.
Anyone have any great ideas?
Idea 1: Bar the door, hope the door the priest came through leads to an exit. But even if it does, we'd have to move Avril, Hoom, and Urdur somehow. Maybe we have time to dump oil on the stairs before barring the door.
Idea 2: Spread oil on the stairs and the landing, find a defensible position (the doorway?) and put Grothnak in front with Pelias right behind for aura benefit. Light the oil when the mob arrives. Grothnak fights until he dies a glorious death. Well, a fighting death. He won't find fighting a bunch of mad villagers to be glorious, but at least he'd die defending the unconscious party members, so that's something.
And...that's all I've got. Unless we can somehow scare the villagers away or figure out the "all clear" signal.
Maybe the priest's body will have something useful?
Speaking of which, Moogeye had a ring of protection +1 we should probably scavenge (sorry, Moogeye).

Hi,
Re: idea 1: Pelias has one "laying on hands" left up his sleeve, fyi.
Here's a handy map of the first floor, in case you need it for your escape planning:
Villagers are at the front door, near "1".
