Act IV Mount Everglow
Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
Wyntar decides to examine the cave drawings and then the item found in the box. You may be right Halo, this could be possibly used to stear it. But, we must first find this flying fish sled? Now, I must rest to gain my energy back. We'll search further tomorrow.

Blodget, halfling thief:
20 feet from Xano, Blodget suddenly stopped in his tracks and felt all of his pockets for his possessions.
"Lift from people? Do you mean to say, steal?" asked Blodget in bewilderment. "Oh no, Miss, and no mistake! I wouldn't steal things from the hardworkin' folk who earned them! Giants and Sky Monsters is one thing, but decent honest people is another, beggin' your pardon!" he said as he scurried away.Dram wrote: You need some lessons in our language if you want to become rich in our profession. You will not be able to sell any of the goods you lift from people. She pats the little guy on shoulder.

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
Thomas, watching the exchange of the halfling and Xano gives a slight chuckle, even though he could not understand what was said, the actions told enough of the tale. He gives Xano a glare, softer than usual, perhaps something bordering on friendly sarcasm or banter, "You tease him."
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.
Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
Xano- laughs at the Halfling. In Halfling. I do not steal things from hard working folks either. I acquire items that people have lost or that were stolen from them. You need to know how to talk there language to find some of these things. she than addresses Thomas The little one has skills they just need to be refined.

Ice Cave Camp
Midday
Mira thanks Barak and generously rewards the dwarves for their help by giving away her share of the newly found gold. Barak gladly shows you the tunnel that he is sure leads to the frozen lake. The other dwarves go about the somber business of dealing with their dead and putting their camp back in order. Wyntar and Thomas study the cave drawings a bit while some of the others discuss morality and what to do with the newly found rod shaped item.
Halo does not detect that the item has any evil emanations coming from it. There is some speculation as to its use but it brings forth no decisive answers. It seems that the group is content to rest in the cave under the watch of the dwarves so the spell casters can regain their magic before heading through the tunnel to reach the ice lake and glowing tower.
I would like all spell casters to update their spell lists before you head out so I can keep my own records of what is being cast per day. Please sound off on here when your list is complete.
Feel free to have any more discussion about what to do now or how to handle future situations. I will warn you again that this is a high level adventure and that the giants were just a warm up for what is yet to come. (that is why you got to pick all of those fancy magic items after all)

Halo will take out the ebony fly and begin to experiment with its activation before we sleep.
In the morning he will lay hands upon his person to recover some much needed hps.

Halo searches for the tiny box containing the magic fly figurine.
He then remembers that, the monk was the last person to handle it. Digging through the pile of ash and clumps of dead tissue, the paladin finds nothing left of that powerful magic item.

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
Actually Halo took it and it's been on his sheet for months, didn't the monk already reach his max magic items. It's not a big deal tho so am cool if you rule he had it

No, that's cool with me if Halo had it. Is there any proof of that played out IC?
I could have swore that the monk was fiddling with it last but, I very well could be wrong about that.

Oops! I just found this post so, you are correct.

Is there anything specific that Halo wants to try as he experiments with the figurine?

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
Halo will first try and activate it by force of will with it in his hand, then he will try the word FLY in all the languages he knows, then the word TRANSFORM in all the languages, and as a last resort throw it up into the air as if he was letting go of a bird (but with the ability to catch it if it does not transform.

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
When you say the word FLY, you feel a tiny vibration and hear a slight buzzing emanating from the figurine. Tossing it into the air does nothing except make the thief gasp in terror.
You surmise that a word must be uttered in order to activate it, and that FLY might be one of its commands after doing so.

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
"hmmmm, curious. Anyone else have any ideas what other words might activate this thing?" says the paladin looking around at the group before either taking his turn at watch or settling in to sleep. The cold is chill and the little chevalier is thankful for his magical ring keeping him temperate.
Before sleeping he will say a prayer to the Lord of light over the bodies of the fallen.

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
Thomas looks over the mechanical contraption, commenting in passing, "Have you tried something simple? Activate? On? Awaken?" He turns to Mira, nodding to her as he makes his way towards the wall; waiting for her to follow him towards it.
When/if she does he will nod towards the painting, speaking in his usual gruff tone, "That large thing may be the fish we seek, a flying vessel of some type. It would make more sense than an actual giant fish at least." He then points to the woman flying in the sky, "But look closely there. something off, and something to think on as we move forward..."

She looks to be flying through the sky with something between her legs. You cant see what the item is but, there looks to be stringers or something like them shooting from her backside as she moves through the air.

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
It was said Devral was obsessed with flying, and the air itself, Mira follows Thomas to the ancient cave drawings. She spent many years in research, and if these petroglyphs are to be believed, strange and unnatural experiments. She glances up at the large Priest. It would appear either her work, or the individual responsible for this art, suffered from some madness. Or, she pauses, these monstrous creatures, they may be akin to those flying apes we encountered, evil creations pursuing her.
Does the fish-ship appear to be utilizing a rod resembling that we found?

Blodget, halfling thief:
Wide-eyed, Blodget looks at the little clockwork toy fly! In childlike wonder he says to it, "Shoo, fly! Shoo!"
Later, Blodget trembles once more in the forbidding shadow of Mister Brother Thomas. The little hobbit looks upon the painting that the mighty purging cleanser of evil indicated, and suddenly bursts out laughing, holding his ample belly and pointing at the woman flying via the explosive power of her own backside's magical toots!
"Now that's art that anyone can appreciate, and no mistake!"

XAno- Watches Halo work with the figurine. Maybe to try say "Buzz" or "Fly Away" Xano will go the tunnels to looks for the direction that the Giants or wolves came from. If she cannot determine a direction she will look for a place to rest that is off in the shadows.

Wyntar looks at the cave drawing again...to Blodget...I believe the item in the brown box is what the Mage was flying on. He picks the wooden item up out of the box. Does anything happen when Wyntar picks it up?

Re: Act IV Mount Everglow
Ice Cave Rest Stop
Halo pulls out the small magic box the group found in Zolbak's tomb way back in Fanjyr. He sets the ebony fly in his palm and recites a few words at it, hoping to discover its activation word. He solicits other ideas from the group when his words do nothing to stir it. He tries a few of the suggestions, again to no avail, unfortunately, ignoring some of the others, specifically Xano's. The tiny cavalier will have to keep trying new words before he can attempt to learn how to master this wonderfully advantageous magical item. His determination is commendable.
The childlike Blodget gets a real hoot from the drawing that depicts what he mistakes as gaseous expulsion shooting from the flying mage's backside. Ahh, the simplicity of a young hobbits mind.
Thomas joins Mira and Wyntar in the discussion about the cave drawings. There is much speculation as to their meaning but, Mira does not see the rod shaped item in any of the scenes that show the flying fish. She fills the group in on what little information is known about Devral, mentioning some of her strange ways.
Wyntar smiles at Blodgets comment about the "artwork" and suggests to the thief that the rod like item in the box is actually what Devral is flying on, not flatulence power. He picks up the rod with the carved eagle head in order to get a closer look at it. There is no affect from simply holding the item.
The group goes about their normal business of setting watches and finding suitable places to rest for a while. Xano investigates the tunnels that she can reach and determines that there is no way any of them were entered by the huge giants as they are all too small for them to have been able to navigate through.
