Whispers in the Darkness (ooc and questions l)
Here, the players and the DM may converse with each other as their true selves, whatever that may be.

Re: Whispers in the Darkness (ooc and questions)
I'm thinking two clerics might not be excessive in any game with a room titled "haunted house."
OTOH, it could just be the Scooby Doo style of haunted house, where all the ghosts are really Old Man Cheevers in a mask, and nothing can actually be turned.
Not that I'm suggesting I run one of the clerics.

BTW, I'm assuming "no Unearthed Arcana" means all the UA rules? Thus demi-humans can't be clerics, weapons specialization isn't an option, etc?
Re: Whispers in the Darkness (ooc and questions)
Fine by me. I may do the same in the next game I run.

I'm thinking nature boy as long as it's one third outdoors.
He's kind of a cleric.

Seems to me that the DM who does a lot of talking about killing characters is usually the one that never actually kills any.
I know a couple of guys that run games and they would never kill off someones character. Very dull games.

Maybe they turn the characters into vampires instead.

I'm still waiting for my call back in that game........

I don't think the current players are as eager for that to happen, given what it may mean for their characters.

We sure have completely hijacked Inferno's threads eh?
I hope he doesn't mind.

Inferno—do you use the THAC0 progression for fighters that advances by 1 each level instead of 2 every two levels (per "Special Note Regarding Fighters' Progression" on DMG p. 74)?
Re: Whispers in the Darkness (ooc and questions)
Yes. So a 2nd level Fighter (or Ranger) has a THACO of 19.Zhym wrote:Inferno—do you use the THAC0 progression for fighters that advances by 1 each level instead of 2 every two levels (per "Special Note Regarding Fighters' Progression" on DMG p. 74)?

Reminds me of an old saying: 'Sex is like money. People that have it don't need to talk about it.'OGRE MAGE wrote:Seems to me that the DM who does a lot of talking about killing characters is usually the one that never actually kills any.
Sex, wealth and dungeon-mastering. I knew there was a connection somewhere.

That's awesome!

Or this exchange from M*A*S*H:
Winchester (about Hawkeye): Why this constant preoccupation with sex?
BJ: Lack of occupation with sex.

Re: Whispers in the Darkness (ooc and questions)
What is the encumbrance of magic armor? PHB says that magic armor is unencumbering. The DMG is self-contradictory: p. 28 says that magic armor cuts weight by 50%; p. 164 says that "for game purposes all magical armor should be considered as being virtually weightless." Which do you use?
Re: Whispers in the Darkness (ooc and questions)
With the wisdom of Solomon, I'll rule between 50% and "weightless."
All magic armor is hereby 25% the weight of non-magical armor.
Thanks.
