Greetings Forumites!!
Greetings Forumites!!
I am new to posting in forums and new to play by posts or chat games. I find myself having more free time than I expected and thought I would give this a try.
My gaming cred:
*In 4th grade my friend invited me to his house after Christmas and told me his mom got him a cool new game. When I arrived I found an odd blue box with a picture of a dragon on it. My friend hated to read so he handed me the rules and told me to teach him how to play. This was my first exposure to D&D and I had to learn the game from scratch and guess who has been a DM ever since.
* I then found myself heading to Southern CA from Oregon on a long train ride so I bought the coolest hardback book, which looked like a textbook to read on the 24 hour train ride to LA. I had graduated to AD&D. And guess who had to be the DM. Yep, it was my job to find friends to play and get them hooked on our new drug.
* In college, I found that everyone was playing the "new" edition and I had to relearn again, this time 2nd Edition. I was not a big fan and with looking to graduate and find a career I left my beloved D&D behind for20 some yrs.
* I am now back into D&D with the OSR and find myself drawn to older editions and clones. My favorite is Moldvay/Cook B/X which I never ran across in my small town in OR. I love the simplicity and how quick it is to play. I do not like long drawn out tactical combat and prefer exploration and story. Of the clones my fav's are Swords & Wizardry, B/X Essentials. etc...
Can't wait to get in on some gaming!
All the best,

Welcome Cougbeav!
While we welcome all editions, and both roll players (Ron raises hand) and role players (
) here, if 2E is the "new" edition for you, then you are probably in the right place. As one of our other esteemed members of this forum is fond of saying - "welcome home!"
Be well, and be welcome, hope you find a game soon!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Hello! You'll fit right in. Always good to meet another player!

Welcome!
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.
