Hi, Jimbo from MN here!
Hi, Jimbo from MN here!
Hi, all my friends call me Jimbo and I have done about 75% of the GMing for group over the past ~15 yrs.
My group is great and they are like family, although many of them have young kids and relationships which take up much of their time, and our sessions have become less and less common.
When I was young I had some exposure to 2nd Ed AD&D and Tales From The Floating Vagabond, but I really cut my teeth on 3.0 after highschool around 2003.
For a long time we played what I called 3.25 (some 3.5 and 3.0 rules) but eventually started playing Pathfinder as well.
We also dabbled in some other stuff like Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, and Deathwatch; usually when the group was short a few members and didn't want to play our main campaign without too many people missing.
Recently I had an accident which was (for me) a near death experience (don't worry I am just fine, just got some hardware bolted to my skeleton) which made me realize holy crap, if I don't make more of an effort to prioritize gaming pen and paper RPGs (my favorite hobby by far) then I won't be able to really play until I retire.
So here I am, I don't know for sure if I will end up in a play by post game, but that sounds fun and I need to start putting myself out there more.
Systems I have rules for and are interested in (some rulebooks may require a trip to storage unit to retrieve...)
DND 1st, 2nd, 3.0/3.5 (NOT 4th or 5E)
Pathfinder (1E only ffs)
DCC (I don't have the MCC stuff but would get it if I found a group)
OSRIC
Castles and Crusades
Swords and Wizadry
Dark Heresy / Deathwatch
Some settings I like:
Forgotten Realms
Dark Sun
DragonStar
Eberron
The underdark (in general)
Dungeonworld
Rappan Athuk
Homebrew stuff based off of AEG, Sword & Sorcery, Green Ronin and other 3rd part OGL publishers.
I haven't used roll20 or other online GMing tools but not opposed to it. I am a software engineer by day.
Recently joined MeWe.
Several years sober from EVE online.
I listen to Tenkar's Tavern, Douglas and Dragons, Spellburn and other actual play or RPG themed podcasts.
For years my town has not had a FLGS, but recently got a fairly nice one.
Sometimes skyrim can't really scratch that itch...

Hello Jimbo!
That's quite an intro there, and we are happy you are here!
Just an FYI, you have to have two Moderator approved posts before you are a full-fledged member. After that you are free to PM, play games and post without delay
Welcome and well met! I'm pretty certain you'll enjoy it here.
Be well,
--Ron--

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Welcome in, Jimbo.
It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

Welcome, Jimbo. I'm sure you'll be able to find a game to your liking here. Or start one.

Welcome aboard, Jimbo! A number of those systems pop up on here fairly often, so you should be able to find a game that you're interested in.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Re: Hi, Jimbo from MN here!
Wow! Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
My regular group is will be meeting next Saturday!
I'm excited because we used to play at least monthly for over a decade (well maybe not around the holidays), but have only played like 2-3 times in the last two years.
In that campaign we are playing Pathfinder in Scarred Lands (loosely) and alternating DM between myself and the other DM. We have finished his first adventure and I will be starting mine.
Haven't decided if I will dig up a module or just wing it. Much of my books are kept in a storage unit, but I will be going there tomorrow to pick up christmas decor and think I will look for the AEG short adventure compendiums I and II ( I forget the actual title, but they are these great collections of little 'one-shots').
I should also hunt for my DCC book and 2e PH, it looks like.
So cheered by the warm welcome!

Re: Hi, Jimbo from MN here!
Hi all!
Thanks for all the warm welcomes!
Sorry I haven't been active on the board yet really, I have been pressed with work IRL and preparing for my groups first pathfinder game in a while. we are in the scarred lands and alternating GMing and it will be my turn I am going to do the first spiragos module I think.
Been listening alot to Glowburn this week and loving it, and got some Swords and Wizadry and S&W Light rulebooks in the mail today (and some other unrelated stuff) and been getting a kick out of it!

Hey, no worries, man. Pace yourself. The end of the year always tends to be pretty hectic so some things (like gaming online) can slip. It happens.
Just ask my players.
