greetings

#1 Post by Dave R »

New member; had planned to lurk for a while, but don't want to get culled. :)

So... I'm currently interested in old school D&D, Traveller, Fiasco and L5R - currently I GM a real world L5R game. I just joined an ACKS play by post starting on another forum, which will be my first PBP so I've been checking out games here to see how they go. I can imagine running a play by post down the road, but I don't expect to jump into it.

Welcome aboard! There is plenty of old school D&D to be found here. I might be interested in trying L5R or Fiasco if you decide to run those at some point.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Welcome, Dave! Old school L5R player myself, and it still holds a dear spot in my heart. Only ever played the imbalanced first edition of the RPG, but enjoyed all of it! Hope you find just the game(s) you're looking for!

Thanks. At the moment I've got my fix for L5R and I'm likely to end up back in D&D next time I run a game, but I can't rule out coming back to it.

Fiasco is an interesting case. It's a GM-less structured narrative game meant to emulate movies like Fargo, Big Lebowski, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - things end poorly for your character, basically, but that's the point. Face to face its a one shot, maybe three hours for any given playset. Play by post might go much longer, but there'd still be an end point in sight.

Welcome, Dave!

I'm also an old school L5Rer. I've played all but fourth edition (which I've skimmed), but 1st edition wasted years of my life and remains my favourite.

These days, my magic formula is [1e L5R core book] + [2e GM Guide] + [Way of the Daimyo] - [virtually everything else] x [sandbox environment] = lots of fun.

I've never played Fiasco, but it's certainly been on my radar and I'd like to try it out sometime.

Howdy Dave R. Welcome to The Unseen Servant. (late welcome, I know)

Glad to have you aboard. I've never played or run an L5R game before. I've looked at it a few time. I hope you find a game or two to join. I myself run a custom D20/D&D sandbox campaign and a Classic BECMI game. Feel free to lurk or join one or both. If not Maybe we will bump into one another sometime.
