Re: OOC Chat
i think the xp is the prize as well as the titles unless you place bets.

Arena Combatants;
Basically GW is right on the money! The XP is pretty much the main reward for winning in the arena or as I like to call it Glory. Usually arena fights don't give any XP or they only give Half. I made the Arena and the Magic shop into Multi-Planar locations. When you walk into the arena you are basically in the space between space-time/reality. The Gnomes can watch you from the stands surrounding the arena floor like they are watching a megatron at a football game or IMAX theater. This allows me to pick any monster that has ever been in D&D 1-2e and portal them into the matches. When you fight things like the upcoming battle with the Duergar, its merely a case of they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and as a punishment are imprisoned and force to fight in this arena situation. I am currently hand writing up the Evil Duergar team of NPC's. This could take a couple of days as I want them to be equally matched to the team participating in the fight. Please have patients with me well I complete this task and you will be rewarded. The reason I say this is because I use the 1e DMG to calculate each NPC's total XP if defeated and using this method you will gain the most XP possible, also it will be 100% accurate by the book as to what amount of XP they are worth. If I use only the Monstrous manual I will have to guess at how much XP to award the group based on the basic Duergar XP. I don't like to do this as it will jip the group out of hard earned XP and also because I may give too much XP if not careful. This battle will be epic I am looking forward too it.
To the subject of the thieves trying to get the black Falcon Statue;
The Laird has high friends among the Tinker gnomes and thusly was gifted a set of three Autognomes for protection. They are mechanical constructs not golems. They have very rudimentary capabilities when it comes to taking orders. He has placed them to protect his office from intruders of any kind. Only the Laird may enter his office, all others including gnomish guards would be attacked if they entered before the Laird had a chance to go in first and give the autognomes the order to stand down.
There is one way to bypass them though. They do have built in fail safes provided because the Laird is not a tinker gnome so he doesn't know how to stop them should they malfunction.
There is a patch of metal on their right shoulders that is slightly raised. If this patch of metal is pushed downwards then the autognome will go dormant. Basically they have off switches. In order for either thief to notice this they must first make two ability checks and successfully hit the autognomes AC with their base THACO ( As they are attempting to tap or slam the stop button. )
INTELLIGENCE Check ( In order to recognize the patch as an off switch. )
DEXTERITY Check ( In order avoid being hit while trying to turn the autognome off. )
ATTACK ROLL Check (Use Base THACO to hit AC 0 to successfully turn off the autognome. )

Yes roll when you get a chance and post. You will need to do this for each Autognome in order to turn them off.

Thanks. That's awesome.
Where can I learn about Withdraw and Dust Devil? Couldn't find them listed.
Thanks,

Re: OOC Chat
Withdraw and dust devil are in the Unearthed arcana. I believe that GreyWolfVT has a link or a copy of it. Ask him more about the Unearthed Arcana and he will help you out. I have a Hard copy of it at home but that's not going to help you very much.

Re: OOC Chat
A movement/attack question. How far can one move and attack in same round? I've seen half-movement and one attack (e.g. 1 sword or one arrow, but not multiple.)
Also, what is the campaign code to link our characters rolls to?
Thanks.

Re: OOC Chat
the Campaign code is 236
Ive always done movement then action in my games, meaning everybody moves first then preform their actions. Human size characters move 12" or 120' per round, Dwarf sized characters move 9" or 90" a round. If you decide not to use your full movement then that is your choice, But regardless of how far you move you can still preform your normal actions at the end. IE 2/1 melee attacks if you are a 7th lvl fighter an above , cast a spell, etc. . The only way I will limit action after movement is in the case of adding dramatic flair such as jumping over a berm rolling and then shooting an arrow. first you would have to move, then make a dex. check to jump and roll, then if successful you could fire one arrow. Generally anytime there is over the top physical feats being attempted. Just PM me if you want to do something like this and ill tell you what I think. Its really case by case.

Re: OOC Chat
If Ulfang's Barbarian leap to get extra movement creates negatives to his attack, or reduces him from 2 arrows to 1, then he won't do the jump.

Re: OOC Chat
You do know a 5th lvl thief would have more than 3000 xp right? Ad&d 1e Thief xp tableGM
The guild is now without a leader. Dram and GreyWolfVT are awarded one 5th lvl gnome thief henchman to roll up at their leisure and 3000XP for out witting Sten Andropolis the chief thief of Gnome Vale.
5,001 - 10,OOO lvl 4 Robber
10,001 - 20,OOO lvl 5 Burglar

Re: OOC Chat
You guys still have to deal with Wort Andropolis , Sten's son. He was still back at Sten's Gambling den when his father died in the dump.
