In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
Re: In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
Cruloc simply lifting the lid may be the way to avoid the greatest number of saving throw rolls for the party as a whole.

I'm back. Thanks for your patience, everyone. New DM post is up.
Re: In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
Cruloc uses his barbarian ability to detect magic.
Detect magic 35% [1d100]=9
Does he sense anything?

Cruloc successfully detects magic within the stone coffer.
Re: In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
Unless others (Zahra excluded, perhaps) are willing to make saving throws vs spore poison to rush at the as-of-yet unmoved sarcophagus, I believe Cruloc is the only one there right now.
I'll post after everyone's positioning is established by Inferno.

Hi.
Below is a closeup of the map I posted in the IC thread. This is everyone's positions before PC posting commenced.
Cruloc and Zahra are both near the coffer. It lies between them, closer to Cruloc. T = Grandfather's torch.
Everyone else is by the door. But some could move to within 10-15 feet of the coffer (standing SSW or NWW of Cruloc) without disturbing the poisonous fungi. This could afford them a view of the coffer's contents.
Hedge, if you want to have Dahinna dip her fingers into the coins, I'll need a Save vs Poison on 1d20+2 please. Or, if the coffer's position was unclear, please feel free to alter your post. It was a nice flourish though. Thanks!

Re: In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
Cruloc understands that the wand may be important to the quest, so he will not destroy it, despite it representing a potential XP bonanza for him.
He'll smash the next magical item we come across. Dibs on that.
If Zahra removes the wand from the casket, Cruloc will move the coin into a pile in a safer area of the room to be divvied up. He will be careful not to release any more spores if possible.

Sooner or later, someone's going to need to bite the bullet and handle that wand directly. I hope it doesn't end up being Zahra.

Not it!
Honestly, it could just as well be Amethu. Does anyone have an 'identify' spell perhaps?

Roger on the smashing rule.
No smashing.
I'll forget again in a couple years.
Thank Crom that Cruloc has a built-in excuse not to touch the wand.

Turn out Amethu is smarter than me - he does actually have an identify spell.
would have to rest again to learn it but may help prevent an unfortunate accident

Likely a wand only usable by a priest, maybe a magic-user.

Kiri has Identify, (not currently prepared) though he's not as smart as Amethu by a long shot. He's is already dedicated to the God of Death, though, apparently, so that's something to consider.ravenn4544 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 5:01 pm Not it!

We could flip a moldy corpse for the honor.
