A World Apart (ooc and questions lll)
Re: A World Apart (ooc and questions lll)
I have to say that I'm enjoying Pulpatoon's posts in particular. Where does he come up with that archaic, sibylline prose for Tjoruy?
As for playing a Cimmerian, just read a couple Savage Swords of Conan and, boom, you're full of barbaric inspiration and one-liners.
I am almost afraid to ask where Pulpatoon's comes from.
Regardless, well done!
p.s. Help with pronouncing 'Tjoruy'?

Same. Loving these posts.
Not sure what’s correct, but I, personally, pronounce it “Jerry.”

My god, man, are you mad?! Never grapple in AD&D! Down that path lies madness!ChubbyPixie wrote:Kiri always wanted to wrastle Garrin! What rolls do you need for this complicated move?
Thanks! Cruloc's speech is fun and flavorful, too!Yrkoon wrote:I am almost afraid to ask where Pulpatoon's comes from.

I'm basing the structure of Tjoruy's speech on a Victorian translation of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, but the language and the fixations of his insanity are mostly off the dome. It's worked well so far, when all the poor man has had to do is decry his pitiful circumstances. If we ever end up in a position where he has to make polite small talk, the entire character might fall apart.
"Tjuroy" is a name from the 18th Dynasty, which got its spelling shuffled a bit to fit with the naming scheme of those who follow Osorus. I guess I'd pronounce it "Tuh-Johr-oi."

Whew! Never been so happy to have my character roll a one for damage on a backstab!
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Cruloc will hang back from the doorway (his spear is 7' long) just enough so that allies on either his left or his right (or both) can participate in the slaughter. However, he will not allow any enemy to pass through beyond the threshold. In other words, he is stationing himself so that it'll always be either 2-on-1 or 3-on-1 at the doorway (good guys vs. bad guys) while the others try to clear the escape out the back.

Please post something to that effect in the IC thread, along with dice rolls to hit and for damage.
Thanks.

Is Garrin able to attack from his current position? Or from a position he can move to this round? It looks pretty tight....
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

Yes, next to Cruloc. He'll need a thrusting weapon, or a small or medium sized weapon.SocraticLawyer wrote:Is Garrin able to attack from his current position? Or from a position he can move to this round? It looks pretty tight....

So, not his longsword then. Roger that.

Re: A World Apart (ooc and questions lll)
If you get out of the hovel, you'll have room to swing a longsword.

Sorry Pulpatoon. It's been four days. The surreal mayhem can't stop won't stop.

Hey,
I may be slow to respond for the next few days.
Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!

Re: A World Apart (ooc and questions lll)
A couple questions:
1) What is the situation with Mako? Is he conscious or not? Does he need to be carried out of the hovel?
2) Can a character attack and then move? Move and then attack? Does the order matter?
3) Does running away invite an attack of opportunity?
4) Is a fighting retreat possible, thereby cancelling said attack of opportunity?
I suppose the wisest course of action would be for Cruloc to shuffle backwards, keeping the masked ones at bay while the other 4 in the hovel (Garrin, Amethu, Mako, and Zahra) make their way out the back. Cruloc will be the last one out.
Or would it better just to turn and run?

I’m also not clear on whether Mako is effectively a zombie (dead) or unconscious or what, but I guess we probably wouldn’t in the circumstances? At any rate, as he feels a connection to his fellow Easterner, Kiri will try to pull him out.Yrkoon wrote:A couple questions:

On a related note, I just calculated, perhaps incorrectly, that Kiri can press/lift 540lbs. above his head. (!!!) So if it comes to it, he’ll one-handed bench press Mako right out of there.

Re: A World Apart (ooc and questions lll)
FYI - Amethu can't move on his own - he's still trapped in a nightmare.
For the overhead press, the version of the 2e PHB PDF i have shows this for OH press, if you were interested. Practically speaking - you're calculation is close enough
18/00 - 480lbs
19 - 640lbs Hill Giant
20 - 700lbs Stone Giant
21 - 810lbs Frost Giant
22 - 970lbs Fire Giant
23 - 1,130lbs Cloud Giant
24 - 1,440lbs Storm Giant
25 - 1,750lbs Titan

From Inferno's last post:
Behind them, Zahra slaps Mako awake! And sleepwalking Amethu tries to murder Garrin from behind but crashes his weapon into a wall in the tight confines of the dilapidated ruin of a home.
