Xanlanan peers at the corpse and room objectively, "Hmm... I don't see any rocks in the immediate vicinity that would have accidently fallen and dented that fellows head like that. My immediate conclusion is there are some less friendly sorts around..."
Dead Goblin
Ignoring the goblin body, Unari creeps forward and disappears around the corner to the right, and is eventually seen peering around another corner to the left. Gruuthuk follows closely behind.
The rest of the group files into the room with the dead goblin. Nella inspects it more closely and notices that the head injury that felled the goblin appears to have been made with a blunt object with a sharp, or at least straight, edge.
Lika, while unfurling his wings, happens to notice a bloodstain on one of the shovels left behind. Nella, Lika, and Xanlanan are all in agreement that the shovel is the likely source of the injury -- and therefore, the murder weapon.

Nothing else unusual is discovered in the room, but now that they're there, it seems evident that the current location and previous location were two separate entities, and the more recently mined section was a crude (but successful) attempt at connecting the two.

"Lead on."Lika chirps, clearly disinterested in the current mundane area.
Sleeping in light armor has no adverse effect on the wearer, but sleeping in medium or heavy armor makes it difficult to recover fully during a long rest.
When you finish a long rest during which you slept in medium or heavy armor, you regain only one quarter of your spent Hit Dice (minimum of one die). If you have any levels of exhaustion, the rest doesn’t reduce your exhaustion level.

The Baroness Nella purses her lips, ruminating over the sketches in her book as she's cataloged their discoveries thus far.

"Yes..." she concludes, tapping her sketches with the back end of her charcoal pencil. "I believe this tunnel might be their back way to connect to what was beyond the mirror hallway. While we might not be closer to our immediate need - their source of fresh water and perhaps something wholesome to eat - it perhaps will lead northward to the very place we hoped to discover. Alas, it also likely means a less fruitful discovery for us if these cretins have already visited it, but such is the way of things." She tucks away her sketches once more in their leather case and fixes her hair. Once ready, she nods to Unari and Gruthuuk to continue onward.
Xanlanan follows along with the group. "Nella, my compliments are your diligent map making. That is excellent work!"

Stairs Unari creeps forward, attempting to move silently, and progresses approximately 50-feet forward down the long passageway before reaching what appears to be a set of stairs heading down:

Carefully creeping forward another 10-15 feet, a pillar or column at the foot of the descending staircase enters into the halfing's view:

Having taken a quick glance at the sketch provided by Nella before departing, the halfling suspects it might actually connect with the unvisited but previously spotted room at the end of the hallway lined with niches.

Unari
Unari signals everyone forward and then moves closer to the stairs.
"It looks like your hunch panned out, Nella. Pity all the same. Although it's understandable that others would try to find a way to circumvent that mirror corridor." He chirps more excitedly. "That could mean that any traps may be already dealt with if others have broken in."
She moves forward at Unari's signal, shining the light down the corridor.
The halfling scout from his new proximity can confirm the set of stairs ahead of them descend 10 feet to a room lined with pillars.
The additional details do appear to confirm any hunches the group may have had -- this is very likely the same room at the end of the mirrored niche hallway previously spotted.

Unari
"Lets search this area for secret doors before heading into pillars if we want to try it from this end."
Nella hangs to the rear with Lika, careful with their light sources to give the scouts with darkvision freedom of movemment ahead. That said, Nella aids Unari with searching when requested, bringing her discerning gaze to check the area before they go in. (Still Passive Perception 21)
The Baroness is rather keen on getting a better look at the layout and structure of the room ahead as soon as the others concur...
"Fly lightly. Someone went through a lot of trouble to make a shortcut to this area. I want to know why." Lika hangs back, concerned about pesky floor traps that she can't fly over.
Xanlanan also searches the hallway for any secret doors as he passes. "Those pillars could be hiding something - or someone - with nefarious intent. Beware!"
