OOC Thread
Re: OOC Thread
Is everyone else okay waiting to see how the one-on-one between the fire elemental and dust thing turns out?

Re: OOC Thread
Zhym, my interpretation of the spell suggests that Zoster need not maintain complete concentration of the fire elemental like magic-users do. Is this your interpretation? If it is, Zoster will suggest a course of action to the others.
But if he knows that breaking concentration could unleash the power of the fire elemental upon the group, he will not speak to them...

Re: OOC Thread
That's my interpretation too. Zoster is free to take other actions (including attacking or casting spells) while the elemental does its thing.

Re: OOC Thread
Well, that was fun!
Good luck all!
I still think putting the crown on the skull's head will work, unless it's a trap to make him more powerful. Though I can scarcely imagine how Acererak could be more powerful.

Re: OOC Thread
forgot about the crown - great idea - who has it?
If we did that and the skull went poof - would that invalidate our quest for the royal family though?

Re: OOC Thread
Would Malibran care at this point?
The crown trick worked on the mummified figure near the throne room (and it worked on poor Worren).
Could be a couple other options, but since Zoster's dead I can only remind you of the ideas he had before he...well...whatever happened to him.

RIP Zoster (x2)
'Raise Dead' is a pretty great option!
Zhym, are the crown and scepter part of the heap of Zoster's possessions that fell to the ground?
What else can we see please?
Before we try the crown, we might need to get rid of the dust (or air) elemental standing between us and the skull. Any ideas?

Re: OOC Thread
You'll have to dig into Zoster's pack to see what's in there. That's where the crown would be. He kept the scepter on his belt (let's say), away from the crown, just for safety.
Other than that, Zoster had his staff of striking, clothes, and some mistletoe out.
There's also the pile of treasure, of course.

Re: OOC Thread
The Raise Dead and crown/scepter ideas seem worth trying.
Remembering a past battle against a bitch worse than her, Elsa is thinking of dropping her weapons, polymorphing into a Type V demon , picking up her weapons, the treasure swords, and the staff of striking in her six arms, and attacking with them all.
While the demon form has none of the magical abilities, I assume its six arms can attack as it normally would?

Re: OOC Thread
Ordinarily, I'd say that getting six attacks is an attack ability and not conferred by Polymorph, but what the heck, a six-weapon-wielding Elsa-demon sounds like grand fun, so I'll allow it.
Polymorphing doesn't confer ambidexterity (sexidexterity?), however. The rules for two-weapon fighting on p. 70 of the DMG would be in effect. One arm can hold the "primary" weapon, which will attack at -2. All other arms would be "secondary" and attack at -4. When you post, please say which weapon will be primary.

Re: OOC Thread
BTW, I'll assume Xale's actions stated for next round still hold unless I hear differently, so all I need to post the next update is Elsa's action.
Re: OOC Thread
Yep; attack with the Rod first; to see if it does anything….if not; switch to hammer attacks at 2 a round….

Welcome to the dead PC dugout, grognard!
Re: OOC Thread
With eight dead PCs, you're one shy of a starting lineup. Who wants to play shortstop?
