I doubt it.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Never really an omen of weal. :D
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

For the north door - based on their observation of the shrine, is it likely that there could be a passage beyond that door, or did the waters edge/cliff not make that possible? (I'm wondering if the black that is unmapped is just unknown or is it in fact part of the mountain and therefore a likely passage).

thx

Yeah, it's very hard to tell. I'm assuming that it's a room or a passage that goes directly east. But there could be more stone north and we just can't see it in the dark, if so my assumptions are way off! ;)

I'm hoping it's the treasure where they store all the magic.
Also, if you look to the very edge of the druid's torch, you can see that the passageway exiting the east of this room looks like it goes south-east; which further makes me believe that there isn't too much north of here. Again I'm likely incorrect!

Yes.
The dark edge above the number 3 on the map is a steep rock wall that continues at that angle for a while before circling around the subterranean lake.

For the gaming historians among us, the map I'm using for the Lost Shrine of Ancient Evil is from a 1970s issue of White Dwarf magazine. I'll reveal the title and author when the party reaches whatever end awaits them.

As I mentioned in Lost City of the Pharaohs, I find that full, multi-level dungeons (the stock and trade of TSR modules of the 1970s and 80s) can be challenging in PbP, given how slow the pace is. But these old-school fanzines from the hobby's dawn have plenty of "mini-dungeons" that are just the perfect length for PbP. :)

Just piggy backing the DMs post from the Notes thread, and I don't know if it matters or not but:
Subject: Desperate Struggles (clues and player notes)

Since there are seven names, my guess is these are the seven faces of immensity. Maybe the other things are titles?
  1. Eizethrat Nexx
  2. Gorgulos Nexx
  3. Vorgen Pox
  4. Nazir An-Azat
  5. Aetheldredd Aleph
  6. Aervik Narn
  7. Carnithrax Maximus
Could be that I'm overthinking too. :D It struck me in particular because that last name reminds me of "Circus Maximus" which is supposedly a fun board game that many an old school D&D player has played. I have not, but I've definitely heard of it! :D

Nice job on that, Ron!

And yes, Circus Maximus is a hoot, though so far I have only played it at conventions.

If I had to guess someone here had played it, I would have put good money on you Rob. :D
Also I think what made me do a double take is that in my home (of four daughters and a wife) I would be the Greater Repugnance. :)
