Odderick:
Halberd: To Hit [1d20] = 10 Damage [1d8] = 5

Sad halberd.

Gus and Clem Try Not to Suck

Gus swings his sword at #4 again:
To Hit [1d20+1] = 6+1 = 7 Damage [1d8] = 5

Clem attacks with the mace:
To Hit [1d20] = 17 Damage [1d6] = 3

And Gus' mind is already on looting corpses.

Results of Player Actions for Round 4:

Rondoel agains keeps a look out for anything else that may appear.

Luna, jovially to Odderick: "Ahup, friend - thanks for trimming some of me old ear fuzz, those parts can be really difficult to reach."
and pitifully shows Gnoll #4 some more useless kendo: Staff, quarter, to hit: [1d20] = 8, damage: [1d6] = 3

Odderick misses with his Halberd: To Hit [1d20] = 10

Gus swings his Short Sword at Gnoll #4 again: To Hit [1d20+1] = 6+1 = 7 only to miss!
And Gus' mind is already on looting corpses.

Clem attacks with the mace: To Hit [1d20] = 17 which finds it's target for [1d6] = 3 damage!

Luna's Horse: Tries to Bite: [1d20] = 8 but misses Gnoll #4

Odderick's Horse: Tries to Bite & hits Gnoll #4!: [1d20] = 12 for [1d11+1] = 6+1 = 7 hit points of Damage & the Gnoll falls to the ground a bloody mess!

End of Combat with the Gnolls!

Confident that Gus will make a thorough examination of the bodies, Odderick rides a quick circuit around the party, making sure no one is injured, and then conferring with Rondoel and the military contingent. "That is our third encounter with Gnolls just today. This forest in lousy with them. They aren't shy and they're taking risks, venturing so close to the Keep. Whatever is going on at the Tower must be pretty far along, if they're being so reckless about being discovered."

Gus does a thorough search & finds various Electrum & Gold Pieces & finds that the
armor & weapons appear to be ordinary in nature.

See the Loot Log for details!

MS3 switched places with MS2 & tries to restring his bow with a new string, as the party goes forward once again.

I take it this time you will leave the Gnoll weapons & armor behind or perhaps remove & relocate items for later recovery???

During the time that the party gathers the gnoll armor & weapons, Odderick chimes in about the Gnolls:

Confident that Gus will make a thorough examination of the bodies, Odderick rides a quick circuit around the party, making sure no one is injured, and then conferring with Rondoel and the military contingent. "That is our third encounter with Gnolls just today. This forest in lousy with them. They aren't shy and they're taking risks, venturing so close to the Keep. Whatever is going on at the Tower must be pretty far along, if they're being so reckless about being discovered."

Rondoel to Odderick:
"Yes, the Gnoll activity has certainly increased, it is well know that they quarrel with the Orcs, & now it seems there is a rift between the Gnolls & Banditry that roam the Borderlands."

"I will guess this party discovered the previous one slaughtered, moved their bodies & hung around."

The Adventurers travel 2,250 yards without incident & with Rondeol Successfully tracking & make it to the pathway that Fr. Tenebaum had told them about & can see the Lonely Tower to the south & the activity going on around various siege engines around the Tower's base.

You are along the west side of the pathway. Rondoel can not find where the first group went across the path! Just that various human bootprints end along the path's western edges.
State your actions here!

Side Note: Whenever you want your horse to go at full running speed, & the terrain permits it, it is 37mph. This is 3,256 feet per minute/round.
This can be sustained for about 2 minutes straight.
The terrain through the Borderlands forest is such that the horses top speed is 85 feet/round.

Gus and Clem

Gus and Clem make a stash of the weapons and armor, attempting to hide them well. Perhaps they will be there to be picked-up later.

At the path Gus suggests going further up where crossing would be less likely seen from the clearing.

With the dim light, Gus leans on his infravision, looking for any warm glow obscured by foliage. Gus moves north looking for a less visible passage.

Clem follows his brother. Clem's infravision also being depended upon.

Gus has kept the halberd in case Oddrick breaks his.

Combat with the Gnolls took about 4 minutes & another 20 minutes searching & gathering the Gnolls items.
Another 10 minutes was spent hidding the gnoll armor & weapons.

The pathway extends some 350 yards northward before it starts to slope downwards towards the banks of the Shrill River.
Note: that area is off the map given to the players.

It is 9:05pm when the party reaches the path.

It is here that the Military scouts & adventures split.

The Military scouts go back westward into the woods before they will dismount & try to have a closer look at the Lonely Tower area.

The Adventurers continue northward on horseback staying just out of sight of the Pathway.

The sun set around 7:54pm. The Moon is Waxing (89.6% full) tonight (April 11, gametime) & was visible since 4:33pm & will set around 4:43am.

If the elves are unable to find any evidence of the other party, Odderick suggests continuing towards the caves.

Rondoel did track the parties bootprints up to the pathway then they disappear. Perhaps they wiped them?

So now you are heading northward looking for a place to cross out if sight of the goings on at the Lonely Tower!

Gus Whispers Logic in The Dark

"Gentlemen, I can only see a warm blooded creature from between 1 & 60 feet, I believe now that it is dark, we will not be detected by humanoids in the clearing. We are too far away. Let's get across, and stay in formation - - lead on Rondoel."

"Like Oddrick says, if you can't find their trail get us closer to the caves."

Rondoel says:
"They probably crossed the path right were i last saw their boot prints & wiped them."
"A bit foolhardy perhap as that was; being they could have gotten caught; or maybe that is why the prints end there & the group in the Lonely tower area wiped it clean?"

"If we cross the path farther up we will come back down to the opposite side of where the tracks were & see if i can pick up their trail again."

Rondoel to Odderick:

"Yep, the horse tracks then spread out in different directions while, bootprints went up to the pathway."

"We could get our horses across now thanks to the darkness & it would be wise to try & get a couple horses as near the Caves as we dare."
