OOG Chatter
Re: OOG Chatter
Looks like "light" darts, "heavy" darts and shortbow all exist with different advantages per gear slots but the bow wins out in the end on better range and by carrying more available ammo.
Re: OOG Chatter
Actually, the Western Lands "heavy dart" has the same range (Far), unlike all other Thrown weapons. So the shortbow's ammo count is its only advantage over darts, and only bards and thieves would have any reason to carry one (fighters and rangers preferring the larger bows, of course).
Re: OOG Chatter
He could be a Tiefling (also from the Unnatural Selection supplement), in which case I'm guessing not since that is an ancestry. Or he could be something "other." Either way, the GM might not want to tell us what he is
Speaking of which, that spell is on Vurna's character sheet but on second thought I want to switch it to Cauldron. Since I'm past the character generation stage, I'm not sure that's kosher. I felt that Oak, Ash, Thorn would be more useful to take after first level (the Red Man notwithstanding!)ateno wrote:There is a spell that makes fey demons and devils not see the one the spell is on. ash, oak, thorn.
Re: OOG Chatter
You don't know, but it is a reasonable assumption. ;O
However, Oak, Ash, Thorn it doesn't make you invisible. What it does it is...
For the spell’s duration, faeries, demons, and devils can't attack you. These beings also can’t possess, compel, or beguile you
...so you are immune to attack, possession, compulsion or being beguiled, but they may still see you. It also requires you to make a concentration roll (11+) each round to keep it up and you can't cast other spells while doing so.

I moved the Equipment list to the Resources for Shadowdark thread.
There are armorers, weapon smiths, and various sorts of smithies in town, but you haven't sought them out yet. On the market square you know that Mazie Thistledown has potions in her Apothecary and there are a few very minor magical items in Ye Old Curio Shop. The Wizard in their tower probably has magical artifacts, as do the Temples, and (now you know) the Duke's Treasure Room. There could be hedge wizards, witches, and such around the area. You'll have to go looking for them to find them, though.

Re: OOG Chatter
You need to go have some more Adventure now, and yes, a quick delve into the sewers and a short Carouse would level you up.subaltari wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 3:56 pmWell done, y'all!
I feel Vesper was cheated by the d8 considering she was the MC for the whole affair. Tinu too. On the other hand... I'm not gonna feel sorry for anyone that made half a level with almost no risk!
Speaking of which, it could have gone a LOT worse for Elizabeth. I was kinda cringing until about halfway through the story. As for Galreth he gets an open-ended favor: depending how you use it, that could be a LOT more valuable than a +1 dagger!
Alas, the rule says we have to go back and do something hazardous before carousing again. I'd say if things go bad at the Warehouse, Zberač could fly back to ask you guys to help, but you won't be available for another couple of days.Tiglath wrote:Fortunately we are now only a "heavy lunchtime session" from levelling up!![]()

If there's something to follow up on, you could join us in the future.

I also need to deal with Ferd's and Robin's Carousing...

Re: OOG Chatter
You guys should hash all that out in character. All of you go over to In The Guild Hall ONLY and tell each other your stories over breakfast.

Re: OOG Chatter
Important!
I messed up and didn't make a post I intended way back before the Carousing began.
The two groups that started the game: Mazie's Journey and Into the Sewers, should have been awarded XP for finding Treasure during their Adventures. Both were in the Normal range, so each member of those parties gets 1XP for that.
I was surprised at the "1 xp short" posts, because I thought you'd have enough to go up to Level 2...I see why not now.
Oh, and I want to make it clear that when you level up your XP goes back to 0 and you work toward the next Level. You need 10 to go from 1 to 2, 20 to go from 2 to 3, 30 to go from 3 to 4, and so on.
I was generous, overly so, with your first Treasure finds because I wanted you to have enough for a good Carouse. That done, expect the treasure you find to drop in future Adventures to more normal levels. By normal levels that means ~20 gp per Treasure find and fewer treasure finds per adventure.

Cool, thanks. I'll update his sheet tomorrow.

Re: OOG Chatter
Well good news there for Vesper too!
Thanks Eris for the clarifiction on XP totals per level - I found I could read the relevant passage two different ways!

Re: OOG Chatter
RAW, you can still cast non-Focus spells while maintaining a spell of Focus duration (p.56). You just can't focus on more than one Focus spell at a time.
So for instance, Galreth casts oak, ash, thorn and keeps it up by making his focus check every round. He could then cast charm person in a future round, because its duration is 1d8 days. But he could not cast hypnotize because it's another Focus spell.
Re: OOG Chatter
Okay, thanks! Remind me if that comes up as I'll probably forget it.subaltari wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 8:32 pmRAW, you can still cast non-Focus spells while maintaining a spell of Focus duration (p.56). You just can't focus on more than one Focus spell at a time.

Quick note: I got a couple of details wrong here on purpose. This is Elizabeth having hazy, confused memories of the whole thing, plus perhaps a bit of deception.archolewa wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 9:25 pm {Elizabeth}
"I don't know what he did." Elizabeth frowns in confusion. "Oh wait, yes I do. He was throwing coins at the wall with Galreth. Dunno why. Men are weird. Don't think it was the Big Man who like, controls the city or whatever. Some other rich guy who lived with him, I guess. Of course I'm alright. I mean, the maid walked off with my dress or something I think. But they got me another one, so it's fine."

Re: OOG Chatter
I've lost track of how many XPs Tinu has. I searched the forum and only found the latest reference for +5 XP.

Re: OOG Chatter
That's okay. You could also say that Morvith found a library in town and has had his nose buried in books for as long as you want until you want to put him back into play. It would be one long Learning Downtime. Up to you.Morvith is just MIA for now, I think.

Re: OOG Chatter
Tinu got 1XP for the minor carouse in Jesselton and 1XP for the Into the Woods Adventure, so she had 2 XP upon returning to Slateholm and just gained another 5 XP for a total of 7. She is still 3 short of Level 2, so another Adventure and probably another short Carouse is required for her to advance.
