Gus, Hol and Tut left directly from the Camp in one of the large trucks that you had rented until Y2157.01.01 at the request of the owner that just wanted his trucks out of Brulantfort during the trouble. You were in a 30 tonne truck (20 tonne cargo capacity) and had driven 16 hours, taking turns at the wheel. As the day progressed, dark clouds rolled in and you were just waved through the checkpoint in a torrential downpour. The last half hour of the trip had been the most difficult as rain reduced natural visibility and the road had become a small stream.
Driving between the trees as the only visible way to identify the road, the giant tires plowed through water nearly a foot deep that seemed to flow gently across the roadway. Ahead, surrounded by total darkness, was the bright glow of the 100 meter glass cubes elevated on stilts 15 meters above a broad River of water flowing across the narrow strip of land that separates the giant inland lake from the ocean. The truck made its way towards the elevated community of Decuir through knee-deep flowing water.
From your prior visit, you remembered a giant elevator near the Industrial Cube and headed towards it. Fortunately, the ground near Decuir was a little higher and the water was less than a foot deep (tending to flow around the support pilings). The truck entered the giant elevator and was lifted upward, water pouring down through the open grate floor, and exited in a giant parking garage on the lowest level of the elevated Industrial Cube.
“Helluva night to travel.” greeted the Security Officer as he assigned you a storage space for your vehicle and inquired about your business. You didn’t sense that he was prying or interrogating, but rather, that part of his job involved directing people how to get to where they were going. Part Police Force, part Tourism Council.
You are advised that Decuir has four shops (which will all be opened about 0900 tomorrow), three restaurants/cafes (only 1 of which is presently open) and a 17 room Hotel (if you need a place to sleep tonight).
[You will ultimately want to contact “Felix Bellinger”, the Factory Manager that Tut made friends with on his last visit … the man who “knows somebody” selling Textiles.]
