The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Re: The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Robin nods in return to Calif. "I've always had a need to wander." He looks at the others. "I can guide you to the best spots for herbs."
Re: The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
"I'd love to explore the Gash, Morvith chimes in, "but it's likely to be dangerous, and we don't have nearly enough information. A little more coin for picking herbs sounds like a good idea."

Re: The Delivery 6/22-24 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin 6/22 through the afternoon of 6/24
This focuses a bit more on Robin than the rest of you as he's never left Jessleton and all this is new to him, but what he sees and hears you all see and hear...
Mazie has the wagon fully loaded and the group leaves Jessleton with cheerful waves and goodbyes from the locals. Robin, especially is sent off with much ado, and wishes for his safe return...for the majority of the locals can't imagine why anyone would leave Jesseleton without quickly returning, or even leaving it at all!
Having been ambushed by Kobolds on the way in, everyone is watchful on the way out, but no Kobolds or other dangers appear as you cross the bridge, pass through the high grasses and enter the dense forest. The wheels of the wagon occasionally squeaking and the donkey's occasionally grunting are the only sounds other than birdsong that accompany you all that day. You reach the ruins you first camped at and find the remains of the young bear have been dragged away into the forest.
The night on the trail passes with no disturbance, this time, and although you see Barklings on your way back they don't approach other than to wave the party along. Twice they speak to Mazie, saying, "Safe journey Mazie!" and "No signs of those Goblins up this way."
Robin has never seen Barklings before, nor has he heard of them at all. They are creatures his size and a bit taller with furry faces that remind him of dogs, but stand upright and wear clothing. All the Barklings he sees are carrying short bows and have what look like long daggers in their belts. Their clothing consists of leather breeches and jackets. Their feet are bare, as are his, and are even more hairy, and are shaped like the paws of a dog, but their hands, though still furry, are shaped more like his own than those of a dog. They speak common to Miss Mazie and seem both intelligent and friendly from what he sees.
After a second full day of traveling the party reaches the open Western Gate of Slateholm. Robin sees the high stone wall, 20 feet high, almost like the walls of the gorge back home, but built of stone blocks, though not nearly as high. As the group passes through the gate and enters the town he is amazed by the size, the hustle, the bustle, and the number of people going about their business. It's like Jesselton, but 100 times bigger and much, much more crowded with humans and dwarves, the occasional elvish ear, but he spies no Halflings like himself and Mazie as the wagon wheels clatter over the cobbled surface of the road...street...and into a plaza marketplace larger in size than all of Jesselton!
On the western side of the market he sees a building bigger than any he has ever seen, four stories high, with a slate roof and glittering windows. Uniformed guards stand at attention outside its doors. On the other three sides he sees buildings of stone that are mostly two stories high containing shops of all sorts. Paved streets lead off from the Market toward the south, the north and he can spy at least two that leave the Market heading down to the east. Looking east, he sees glittering gold across the horizon out beyond the colorful roofs of tile atop buildings that block most of his view.
Is that the sea? He's read about the sea, but he's never seen it!

Re: The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Keeping his crossbow at the ready, Ferd is otherwise a jovial companion as he walks aside the front of the cart and chats-up Mazie throughout the journey. His natural presence is bouying as he makes the trip more enjoyable.
Getting through the gates, he helps unload at Mazie's shop. If Robin is still there, he puts a hand on his shoulder next to him and asks, "so... what do you think?"

Re: The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Robin asks about the Barklings when they encounter them. "What kind of creatures are those? They look like dog men in a way but seem very friendly."
When they reached the outskirts Robin is wearing a look of perpetual shock and awe as they approach and enter the city. His eyes are as wide as platters as he takes in the crowds and the buildings and the noise. His head is on a swivel as Robin strives to take everything in at once. As Ferd addresses him Robin looks up with someone of a catatonic expression. After a few moments to collect his thoughts and voice Robin replies. "I could never imagine someplace so grand and chaotic and crowded. No one back home will believe me when I describe this place. What is that grand building with the guards and am I seeing the ocean over there?"

Tinu walks along beside them, listening as she looks around. "We should check prices on healing potions before I use what we saved to make them."helvorn wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 10:39 pm Robin asks about the Barklings when they encounter them. Re: The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
Mazie drives the loaded wagon down the alley beside her shop and stops the donkeys in the small open area behind it.
Alighting from the wagon seat she grins at the party that gathers around her, "Well done everyone! Help me unload the wagon and I'll pay you each the 7 gold I promised you and Robin for your help on the way back I'll give you 3 gold."
After you unload, Mazie hands over the gold and says, "I won't be going back to Jessleton for a couple of months to get more supplies and deliver goods to them, but I'll be sure to post another notice on the Job Board in your Guild Hall when I do. Thank you all for coming along with me on this little journey."
And so your first adventure concludes successfully! As you walk away from Mazie's Apothecary you have gold jingling in your pockets and a desire to celebrate, but first you need to go the Guild Hall and report to the Guild Master.
Go to IG: In the Guild Hall
Maybe something could be done to help Robin, who isn't in the Guild, get situated here in Slateholm, as well.
Does he have a desire to join the Adventurer's Guild and continue to associate with these folks and others of their ilk?

(Adding +7 coin, plus the coins and potions from herbs. What XP did we earn?)
Re: The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
(Did we pick up any potions? I know we have the coins and gems from the box we found)
Re: The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]
I tallied it in the other thread.
From the Bear: unknown hide and meat.
From the Kobolds: Nothing, but we evaded them.
From selling herbs: we each got 20gp and 1 Potion of Healing.
From the gnome box:
From Mazie for the job: 7gp each
From the Bear: unknown hide and meat.
From the Kobolds: Nothing, but we evaded them.
From selling herbs: we each got 20gp and 1 Potion of Healing.
From the gnome box:
one platinum coin, four gold ones, and 11 silver ones, three diamonds, two uncut rubies, and those four other pebbles
From Mazie for the job: 7gp each

You sold the bear meat for 1 gold and the bear skin for 3 gold in Jesselton.Marullus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 10:55 pm I tallied it in the other thread.

You'll have to see a jeweler it you want to appraise and sell the gems, but both Ferd and Morvith have a general idea of their worth. The diamonds are small, but they don't have any obvious flaws in them, so each is probably worth in the range of 300 to 500 gold. The uncut rubies are probably worth a couple hundred each. None of you have any idea if the pebbles are worth anything.

Tinu speaks up. "I will need some time to make the healing potions from the plants we collected. We should consider buying better equipment using the gems we found."
