Another Forever DM
Another Forever DM
Hi, I've been playing ttrpgs for 30 years. I started with 1e Earthdawn and AD&D 2e in the 1990s and especially ran and played a lot of AD&D 2e. I took a bit of a break from actually playing during college and graduate school and just read stuff to keep up with the industry and collected books for a few years.
I would say I'm primarily a worldbuilding and map-making hobbyist who also sometimes runs games for fun and to prompt my worldbuilding imagination.
I know this is a controversial point for some, but I've absolutely loved using the AI art makers to generate thousands of pictures of weird things and places for my imaginary worlds. I've been developing a 'sword and sandals' world for a few months based on a combination of influences from the new Trench Crusade miniatures franchise, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, and similar properties like Theros, Arcanis: World of Shattered Empires, and Glorantha. I'd like to try running a pbp in this world with the Fantasy AGE system.

Re: Another Forever DM
Greetings.
Just an observation, but frequently “who you know” matters. Specifically, people often join games with someone they have played with or under (as a DM) in the past because they know who you are and what to expect.
It may seem trite, but a lot of games start and the new player/GM/DM vanishes and all the promise lands in the dead-game file. After being burned once or twice, some people become more comfortable with someone that they suspect will still be around in three months.
Which is just my long-winded way of saying that JOINING a game will allow people to get to know YOU and increase your chances of recruiting them into a game that YOU RUN. They, in turn will know and persuade people to give it a try. [at least that was my observation about how things often work],

Welcome!
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

While I agree with this, perhaps I am an outlier. People join my games despite knowing me.

Oh, and if you like world-building games, look at Rex's Harn game.
