Thumper wrote: Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:05 pm Alright then, Walt will want a quick surface scan Tech World and this world. Then he’ll take a running leap into the water fall and gin his grav harness for a quick transit of the falls with an upward vector just before hitting water.

He’ll send out the two grav bots to search the local area for later retrieval.

Once he has bearings and a surface coordinate, he’ll reverse back to his man cave then reluctantly move off to find his friends.
You fly into the waterfall with an upward angle, full power to the grav harness... and are smashed down with unimaginable force. The tons of water bear you down for a seeming eternity, even as you attempt to extract yourself, and then smash you into the water below like a rocket-propelled meat puppet. The suit's armor and your own keep you from being instantly killed, but you take damage and are somewhat disoriented.

The suit is going crazy, red warnings luridly blaring that just about every system has failed and suit integrity is comprised. Your faceplate is badly cracked, and you're sinking. The grav harness offline. Is that water flowing into your suit? Sure feels like it.

I'll make a vacc suit roll for you.

Only Vacc Suit 0 and no wafer skills to back it up. Ouch. You get a DM +3 for stats. I'm looking for a Formidable 14+ result.

No success in righting yourself. It's dark and you don't know where the surface is. The interior electronics short out, plunging you into darkness and the water is up to your neck.

You have one action to avoid getting a pretty certificate that says Death by Misadventure. What'll it be?

Walt reaches into a fold in the suit and pulls the manual release chord which blows compressed air to separate the Rexwell Suit from its wearer. He knows it all sinks to the bottom.

You find the few gems I mentioned earlier. They seem theoretical and created for a master. Lots of high-end theory, few practical tips.
Arkar will study anyway as best he can.

Why would there be anything like that in a vacc suit? Um, no.
Thumper wrote: Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:57 pm He’ll use Athletics 3 and his strength to swim on the surface.
Looking to see how well Walt swims in a water filled vacc suit. Looking for an Impossible 16+ success.

Wah Wah Wah. You have died. Good thing you're backed up. We'll see how long it takes them to find your waterlogged corpse since you didn't tell anyone where you were going and were alone. ;)

Hmm, so no quick release on a Rexwell as per the first quote? There was NO attempt to swim IN a vacc suit, just an attempt to quick release FROM the suit.

Either way, oh well. Bruised ego…eventually a respawn with no memory of going back into Tech World…

No release and you did attempt to swim in the vacc suit. Poorly.

If they recover your body, all the memories are in the continual backup implant.

At least now you can prove to Ciencia that it works. ;)

Ok. If you had said there was no release, he would have teleported.

Truth be told- I was actually very much looking forward to a Naked and Unafraid scenario on wherever this is. Probably woulda (now gonna) take forever for the gang to come looking and find him and eventually think to respawn him.

Teleportation requires pre-knowledge of where you are going. You don't even know which direction is up or down, much less what is out there. You would have figured that out in your final moments.

You can be naked and afraid next time. ;)

Tell you what. I will give you a final chance. The odds against you are high. Let's see if you can use clairaudience under serious pressure. No skill in it, so only a DM +3. Looking for an Impossible 16+ success.

You feel like you ALMOST saw something, but failed to get a useable view to teleport.

SO CLOSE! And now you die.

It was an impossible situation. You really had no idea what the waterfall would do. No experience to judge. Lots of ribbing incoming once they bring you back.

I don’t want your second chances. 🤣 But just for the record, Walt would have mentally imaged the spot next to the holo-globe in the man cave. The attempt to “blow the hatch” on the suit and then swim was the naked and afraid scenario.

Sorry…I shouldn’t referrence “blowing the hatch” with NASA guy!

You are disoriented and somewhat mentally confused and under severe pressure. I am requiring a Formidable 14+ teleportation roll. I will waive the mandatory rule's lawyer DM of -10 in this case.

And you have worked this situation like a rack of ribs, but only ended up with BBQ sauce all over yourself. Glug Glug.

Garvin checks his chrono again "Right now 'e's really overdue! Bollocks! Oi, Majordomo, show me where my missing mate went an' what 'e did during his time in this 'ouse but first confirm there are no others here except us".

He meets William's gaze and says "Look, I know the Scout Service has "I'm not Lost I'm Exploring" T shirts and its excitin' an' makes the Princess squeak but I think we all agree 'ow close we came with the girls an' that Ancient booby trap. All these new places are the very definition of "unknown risk" an' we've not really been too professional explorin' 'em. 'Ands up - I took Aster off on a bike ride but at least there was the two of us. Walt must 'ave been on 'is own!"

He asks "Doc, if 'e 'ad any bots with 'im can you contact or recall 'em?"

"Your companion went to a different area of the home and exited via an exit using his grav technology," Majordomo said. "I can escort you there. There is no one else in your home."

"If he's elsewhere, then no, I won't be able to contact his drones," Metz said. "Once we get in range, I can do so."

Assuming you go to the cavern, you can read the description of what you see in the earlier post. What is new is that your HUDs in the Neural Link pop up red warnings that his suit is compromised and there are no life signs. The HUD has location information that he is somewhere outside the big waterfall.

There are two spybots in the cavern and one of them saw him jet straight into the water and vanish in a downward direction at great speed.

He turns to the Majordomo "We need to get to this location (Walt's suit's last known) show us how we can do that without entering the waterfall".
