There isn't much to gather. It's like the outback in Australia, only dryer and more inhospitable. A map of the planet made via satellite is about the best you can manage. Though, if you want some recon before you go, you do remember Metz saying he'd been working on something.

Speed update. Now that I'm back at the computer, I can give speeds for your vehicles. The probe drone can run between 800-1200 kph and it has an endurance of 96 hours at slower speeds and 14 hours at the top speed. Plenty to get out there, search around, and get back.

The stealth grav bikes cruise between 300-500 kph and can sprint between 500-800 kph. It's endurance at slower speeds is 4,500 kilometers, but only 3,000 kilometers at the highest speed. That's right at how far you'd be traveling, so you'd want to slow down part of the way to make sure you have some spare juice. Or, you can charge up if you stop at one of the villages and can find a charger. Or eight.

The air/raft can cruise at 100-200 kph and sprint at 200-300 kph. Sadly, it's range is 1,500 kilometers at the slower speed and 1,000 at the higher. That means it would have to be recharged several times on the journey.

It also means that the bad guys likely got a charge en route.

One thing to keep in mind is that it is late here at the downport. The sun is about to set. It's already dark where the probe is headed. With Assisted Ambulation, you can work through without sleep, but I wanted you to have the right scene set in your heads.
