It doesn’t sound like that for me. It sounds like one of the nerves was damaged and will likely heal over 3-6 months. They’re still looking for the root cause.ateno wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 8:51 pmHey, recent veteran of that, I did not have double vision, but I was told my vision would shrink from top and bottom, luckily mine was caught before and symptoms. I had a benign adenoma on my gland was pushing on my optic nerve.terrymixon wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 4:08 pmFingers crossed. Might be a small lesion by the pituitary gland pressing on my optic nerve. If it really is there, it’s likely benign and surgically treatable if that makes the most sense.
Easy surgery, headaches for a 3 weeks and off for three weeks, nose bleed and done, at least for me.
PM me if you have any other questions.

They dilated my eyes and blinded me, so it may be a few hours or even tomorrow before I can answer game posts on my phone. Feel free to plan and plot and declare actions and intents and list things you want to do. I’ll get to them when I can see again.

Will do. Sounds like a very small a diabetic related intuition to the blood flow to a nerve. 60% chance it recovers in 1-3 months with no intervention. Another 30% it takes 4-6 months. 10% chance they have to do something surgical or special glasses.

They just came back in and dilated my eyes again so I didn’t immediately see what you did there.

Re: The Starport Dive
On the subject of eyes my gaming pal had the very disturbing experience of suddenly going blind in one eye. Having suffered a nasty bout of imagination he was delighted (relatively) to be informed that his retina had become detached and needed gluing back in. Apparently this happens a lot in refined gentlemen of a certain vintage and is about as alarming as it is badly publicised (hence this public service post). So he was more than happy to trade discomfort and a day case surgery for being entirely fixed with a dab of glue (clearly they don't call us the "Airfix Generation" for nothing).

I hope to avoid that. Still good to know. They looked long and hard at my eyes. They look good.Tiglath wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 4:16 pm On the subject of eyes my gaming pal had the very disturbing experience of suddenly going blind in one eye. They gave me a likely diagnosis of optical myasthenia gravis. My wife, by odd coincidence, has had generalized myasthenia gravis for two decades so I have an idea of what that means, though it only affects my eyes, if that is what it is.
They’ll cut me loose later today, but I can again see well enough to answer posts. Here we go.

No updates yet. The last tests they did are still percolating. Maybe soon. Until then, I'm taking meds that have been making it better and wearing an eyepatch when I have to drive. Road pirate!

Random thought - or one finally came along after a long wait...
.
We now have a fabulous array of guns but I fear we won't be able to use some of them due to their telltale "forensic signature" advertising in no uncertain (and possibly radioactive) terms that we're toting Ancient weaponry.
Upgrades of existing tech e.g. plasma rifle (PGMP with no power pack/requirement for battledress) just leaves plasma burns and the same's true of a laser (or equivalent) whereas meson weapons might leave evidence behind that might put folk on our trail / compromise our hiding in plain sight.
We might well need the big guns if we "load for bear" but should perhaps get more technologically "mundane" weapons (not that expense is any issue for us) for regular bounty hunting use. Skillswise I believe all of the "exotics" fall under "Energy Weapons" in any event.
Just slinging this out there... might be my paranoia showing!

Hence, Terry is setting us to be the bounties with a Billion Credits on our head!!
I agree in part, in that some of these weapons are clearly Ancients’ weapons. Those weapons of TL above 15 need to be used in times and at locations with extreme discretion.
However, some, are TL12-15 weapons…just exotics. Cartridge laser weapons are ready available throughout the Imperium, though they are banned on most worlds. Hence several previous requests to get a Imperium-wide legal basis to carry and a Merc 5 license. But these weapons would not leave behind a tell-tale Ancients’ signature.
But that begs the question, which of these TL 12-15 weapons are of such a construct or finish as to be recognized as Aancients’ vs just advanced versions of exotic weaponry? Or all they all recognizable as Ancient? Or are some of the origin from the 15,000 year old tomb raiders?

Almost all of Mad Dog's stash are from the wreck. The video evidence he made proves that. The disruptor rod was not. The problem might be that the meson weapons and the advanced but not Ancients disruptor will certainly draw the eye. Heck, most will draw questions. How you answer them is key. And whether you are believed or not.Thumper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 10:30 pm Hence, Terry is setting us to be the bounties with a Billion Credits on our head!!

Also, that fusion pistol you found in the Ancients city doesn't really look like it is of Ancients manufacture. It looks like something a human would make, rather than a Dryone. Maybe one of the servitors cooked it up. Or maybe someone else built it and it made its way there. You'll likely never know.

I think we're very much on the same page.Thumper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 10:30 pm I agree in part, in that some of these weapons are clearly Ancients’ weapons. Those weapons of TL above 15 need to be used in times and at locations with extreme discretion.

Your point about the Merc 5 Licence is entirely valid

There's the "pure Ancients gear" with no excuse for ownership/how it got there and then there's the "alibi weapons" whereby, conveniently "We're rich" is a get out as much as that the tech (albeit superior) is within logical reach (stretch?

The grav weaponry is a good example of this. The contemporary military would use it but it's expense precludes anything like general issue. However for Bounty Boys' (and Girls but that wrecked the alliteration) Bling (now you see it) they're great "alibi weapons" per se.
We might not quite need to fit wooden stocks/grips but a "tech down" in furniture might throw off any unwanted prying at the stage of a visual test. Here I suggest checking the art work for the plasma rifle. It manages (to me) to look so beat up and Orky that it couldn't possibly be "super tech".
