Magic Missile INT roll [3d6]=8

Genaromes grabs his staff and attempts to smash the nearest reptile with all his might, overcoming his fear in the heat of battle.

Staff strike [1d20]=12, [1d6]=5

Add an Intelligence check vs [4d6+1] in order to retain memory of the Sleep spell.

You and Genaromes also need add Intelligence checks for the Magic Missile cast.
[4d6+1]=10+1=11 Yngvar rolls to retain MM in his memory

[4d6+1]=14+1=15 Yngvar rolls to retain Sleep in his memory

Int 15, retained both! Did the Sleep work on the 'bird'?

Trekking to the Barrow Mounds.

The trio of Pteranodons struggle to escape the fury and blades of the group.

Wrathbone hacks into the wing of one. -2hp Fydmar flanks the creature, stabbing it in the back, -7hp

Rickford and Duval combine to adds their own wounds, -5hp

Brother Symeon & Genaromes fight off one, -5hp

Bhelnus hits another, adding another wound -8hp, Durgo further stabs it, chopping head from neck. -6hp.

Rickford and Duvall: Longspear melee: [1d20]=3[1d8]=5 [1d20]=19[1d8]=5Brother Symeon: morningstar melee [1d20]=17[2d4+1]=4+1=5

Yngvar utters a spell to bring the encounter to an end. His Sleep incantation causes the injured Pteranodons to swoon exhausted before they can attack or fly away. It is a simple matter then to slay the creatures.

The group's anti-air flak cover of missiles grounding the beasts and the good hits mean they never get to lift of. Not sure if the Pteranodons are edible, but the 'bushmeat' could be cut, hearts, liver, offal to feed animal companions and each could take a trophy from the critters, a beak or claw, a span of hollow boned wings.

Next actions please

Yngvar

Yngvar slits the throat of the sleeping Pteranodons and begins cutting a trophy, a claw from the beast! He then cuts some goodies off and feeds them to Brutus! He rabidly attacks the proffered meat with gusto!

Bhelnus

Bhelnus is pleased at his conduct in his first encounter with a hostile foe and looks to see if he can recover his bolts which struck the flying lizards, as well as Drugo's arrows.

Yngvar, is there a tiny bit of flying lizard for Bucky here? He loves him a bit of liver.

I am happy to be in the company of such well organized and decisive group. Well Done all!

Wrathbone

I will take some lengths of beak with a view to carving any horn handle implement. Not sure if it could be useful for a stiletto blade. Maybe a basuc cutlery; knife, fork, spoon.

He would pose in front of the dinosaur. (Are many dinosaurs in this setting? Should we expect T-Rex's and the like?).

Once we have had a brief rest, he will be ready to move in. I will make sure too that I compliment the magic output and marrial prowess of the others.

Wounded but not seriously, I will have a go to treat my own injuries using my First Aid Kit (deducted from inventory) asking the good cleric Symeon to counsel any weing diagnosis or poor bandaging.

Wrathbone: 1st Aid Kit vs Wisdom 11. [4d6]=16 healing [1d4]=4

I think he fails a proper medic check and just triages himself for the minimum +1hp back.

Bhelnus

Hoping he can catch [Wrathbone before he confusedly applies his 1st aid kit Wrathbone my good dwarf, it appears that you will be able to apply Moradin's Rite of 1st blood and heal your self. Thanks be to Moradin!

Yes, he can dedicate his wound and be proud of the scar but you can still minister the healing. But completing the ritual, perhaps taking some Pteranodon portion to lay on the Moradin Anvils later, you will get +2 temporary hp in your next battle.

Sweet, I wasn't sure what he was, just assumed he was a dog, Bucky and Brutus can be pals and play then! ;-)

Fydmar
Well done all! That's showing em what for.
Wrathbone, next time, I'd recommend asking the good brother to use the kit on your injuries. He's more skilled at such work than you or I.

Fydmar will cut off some hollow wing bones to bring back to Helix. These could prove useful for distributing lubricating fluid in the golem.

Durgo

Durgo gathers some of the better parts of the beast for food using some skin from the beast as a sort of sack. Heart, liver. He takes a couple beaks, talons and wing bones and puts them in his backpack.

He says, "A very good effort my friends. While that proved our skills let's not get overconfident in our abilities. We must continually work as team and focus our attacks to best handle any encounter. That may not always be on a single target and might be to attack a creature overwhelming a fellow party member instead. If we keep our heads about us we will have a successful expedition. Unless we run into something beyond or skills. A fighting retreat to fight another day is better than not making it back to Helix. You have all proven your skills today. Great work."

Durgo looks to recover his arrows.

Durgo goes and pulls out his arrows from either the beast or muck and adds them back into his quiver once cleaned. He wipes his blade and shield off.

Durgo

Rickford has the Large Pick, Duvall has the Sledgehammer and Durgo has the Spade/shover. Donkey is stabled.

Durgo takes off his bear cloak and puts it in a sack with the temperature it'll help so he doesn't over heat.

Bhelnus

Will Roll to collect his bolts:

[1d100]=66 vs 1-50 = Bolt Recovered otherwise lost

[1d100]=98 vs 1-50 = Bolt Recovered otherwise lost

It appears that both my bolts were broken as the flying lizards fell to the earth.
-2 bolts

Ygnvar Bucky appreciates the vittles. We had a cete of badgers back in the Moon Peaks who once took down a whole cow. It was an ugly sight.

Bhelnus decides that a claw from one of the "flying lizards" would be an appropriate memento from his first adventuring battle. Durgo if it isn't too much trouble and if you please can you cut a claw off of that beast you are hacking at so I can keep a trinket of my first lizard bird fight?

Should we "table talk" in the threads to sort out strategy using OOC? I wasn't sure of the mechanics

Well done, comrades. Standing together we are a force to be reckoned with.

Durgo

Durgo replies to Bhelnus, “Certainly.” Durgo cuts one off and hands it to him.
“Here ya go.”

“Probably can’t tell we’re these beasts came from but we could get a direction in case we wanted to find the nest on a different expedition. Gen and I can work on cartography skills to map things out once we get into unknown territory.”

Durgo stows his blade and shield in favor of his bow for initial attacks.

OOC guidelines might best come from the DM.

anything the character wants to say or do should happen in Expedition threads. A player can also express 'expedition' ideas and preferences here. 'I prefer going into the tower not the dungeon' 'we should camp now so Fred can learn spells'

But ooc Player talk, memes, planning not directly related to current or character actions can use the OOC, Expedition Planning or Player to Player threads.

A few eyes on the skies is a good idea. In case there are more flying beasties hereabouts.
