Re: Chapter 6: The Evil Queen & Her Fortress
Smashing through the door Egon enters the room sees a lot of things all at once but the most pressing is the big owlbear in the room, that has now reared up on his hind legs and lets out a very loud noise. Owlbear noise https://www.google.com/search?q=what+do ... hwEgQIBDAB It looks at the dwarf and drops back to all fours and makes for him as the others come in behind him this does not deter the owlbear one bit. To the left of the door you see at the end of the blood drag trail a dead male human by the looks of it quite dead and bloody a pool of blood under the body. There is a fairly large mattress on the floor in the back corner of the room and a woodne chair that flew out from behind the door. Behind the owlbear is a bit iron metal pen with it's door left open, which to most of you screams that something or someone else is down here that let the creature out of it's pen. In the pen are three dead wild game birds probably from the area nearby, there is also straw. It's almost as if something is keeping this owlbear as it's pet. Another thing happens as the owlbear charges towards it's "foes" the other door in the stairwell landing room bursts open and a big ogre enters lumbers in carrying a big sword.

Zylore
Seeing Egon miss, the ranger whistles loudly and clangs his weapons together to get the owlbear's attention. He then spreads his arms and begins to speak soft, non-threatening words in Elvish. He is hoping he can calm the creature enough to keep it from attacking. He knows this is a slim chance, but he's willing to take it.

Animal Empathy - When dealing with a wild animal or an animal trained to attack, the animal must roll a saving throw vs. rods to resist the ranger's overtures. (This table is used even though the ranger's power is non-magical.) The ranger imposes a -1 penalty on the die roll for every three experience levels he has earned (-1 at 1st to 3rd, -2 at 4th to 6th, etc.). If the creature fails the saving throw, its reaction can be shifted one category as the ranger chooses. Of course, the ranger must be at the front of the party and must approach the creature fearlessly.
Winter is coming...

Weston
Seeing the sudden appearance of the Ogre, Weston tries to think on his feet.
"Oh my, let me try something..."
He steps forwards towards the Ogre (just to bring himself to the front of the group) and casts Colour Spray at it.

Re: Chapter 6: The Evil Queen & Her Fortress
Trist
Trist from her vantage point will watch the two areas. The ogre to the south and the owlbear to the east. She'll hold her actions to see how the fight goes with the Ogre and how the Owlbear reacts. She'll attack the Ogre unless it falls to her friends attacks before she fires her arrows. If the ogre falls then she'll pivot to fire at the owlbear if it chooses to attack her friends in that room. If the Owlbear become friendly she holds her attacks.
If needed. No bonus applied for blind ogre.

Zylore
Realizing the beast is reacting to his calm tone, the Ranger tries to get the owlbear to calm down and to back away to its den. "Do you have any meat?" he asks Egon, speaking softly. Moving to his right, Zylore slowly eases off his backpack, removes a pack of rations, unwraps them, and tosses them toward the back corner of the room. All the while he keeps eye contact and is speaking softly to the beast.

Looking towards the pen that the owlbear came from you can see 3 dead game birds of some sort that it hasn't yet consumed.hedgeknight wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 3:20 pm Zylore

Re: Chapter 6: The Evil Queen & Her Fortress
Ogre drops his sword and puts his hands up before any further fighting occurs. "I don't get paid enough to die here. Please don't kill my companion, I am smart enough to know when I am beat. But my owlbear may not." he says not being able to see what is happening in the other room so well from his vantage point with injuries and the pain from them.
Owlbear cocks it's head at Zylore like a curious dog might do listening to it's master's talking to it.
