Southern Hool Swamp, Later Afternoon, Cool and Foggy
Leaping Lizards!
In the heart of the Hool, the companions struggle against a foe way more familiar with this environment than they. Caught by surprise, they are not prepared for the onslaught!
On the hill leading to the upper entrance to the tomb of Sakatha, there is a struggle which is not going well for the human combatants.
Gordansk tries to fend off his foe, but the lizard man has no trouble in the mud...and jabs the doom priest in the belly again! The man beside him fares little better, but with a cry of desperation, he slashes his reptilian foe in the neck, hacking through scale and flesh, sending the creature back to the mud!
Hissing and clacking the Lizard Men swarm the companions, jabbing and stabbing!
Sai's armor protects him from the deadly spears of his foes as he digs into one of his pouches for a bit of sand.
Vilana ducks and moves as the big lizard man attempts to skewer her.
Zan gets jabbed in the shoulder, even as he is trying to unfurl a scroll of communication. He ducks as another lizard man attempts to stab him in the face, and the spear head strike the bark of a cypress and snaps in two!
Lizard men rush past to find Roan, Fahima, and Cassius waiting on them!
Two lizard men pair off against Roan, the first one's spear deflecting by the Dwarf's own weapon...but this allows the second lizard man an opening and it rams its spear deep into Roan's ribs! (Crit x2 dmg)
The Dwarf grunts in pain, pushes off the tree and smashes the lizard man which stabbed him right in the head! The lizard man goes down hard, hissing and snapping its broken teeth, trying to get up again.
Fahima narrowly avoids the same fate, even as two more lizard men close in on her.
Keeping his foes in front of him, Sai manages to cast Sleep on them, dropping both and the one hanging back from the others (L12).
Blood on his fingers, Zan manages to unfurl the scroll...invoking his magic ability to read it. Then he shouts:
"I have a gift for Sakatha, the Great Lizard King of the Hool Marshes. It is a blessing from Count Tydan of Port Torvin!"
The lizard men pause for a few seconds, confused that the Elf could speak their language. Then the one attacking Vilana, the only one with a shield, speaks back. "We no serve Sakatha. We serve Aulicus the Black! Kill them all!"

Uses her staff sling as they approach and then switches to her scimitar for melee.

As the charging lizardmen close for melee, a Halfling and an Elf unleashes hell on them! Fahima spins and hurls a sling bullet, striking L11 in the face and momentarily staggering the creature. Cassius draws steel and promptly guts L8, spins and slashes L13 from neck to...erm...tail.
The Lizard Men of the Hool continue their assault upon the companions.
L5 attacks Vilana, and the Elf almost avoids the spear meant for her face; the jagged blade leaves a trail of blood running down her cheek. She drops and rolls with the attack and comes up with a sword in one hand and a dagger in the other! She cuts L5 to the bone with her sword and jabs it in the thigh with her dagger.
"How'd that feel?" she growls with a smirk.
L6 and L7 stab and jab at Zan, as he tries to cast a spell. The nimble and quiet Elf ducks, dodges and dives out of the way of the attacks, but L6 manages to ram its spear deep into Zan's back, leaving him face down on the swampy ground.
L9 attacks the stout Dwarf hissing and clacking its jaws. Roan is caught flat-footed, but his armor barely saves him from more than a bruise. He responds with his mace, driving the lizard man in the ground like a tent peg!
L10 leaps over the bodies of the dead lizardmen and comes at Cassius with a spear, and manages a deep stab wound to the Elf's ribs! (Crit!) Twin blades whirling, Cassius is a blur of steel, and even though L10 holds its own for a few seconds, the better fighter wins out and the lizard man's body falls in one direction while it's head flies off in the opposite direction!
L11 limps up to Fahima, a deep gash on its face from her sling bullet, and drives its spear into the Halfling's shoulder!
Dropping her staff, she draws her scimitar and hacks at her foe, but her blade is turned aside.
A few feet away from Roan, L14 leaps atop the lone Bugbear and rides the furry creature to the ground, ripping and clawing the Bugbear to death!

Continues to melee, using my third posted macro I still fail abysmally though he has a premonition that if he can survive another few rounds he might get in a killing blow himself.
"Great hack my valiant meat-shield. Lunge and riposte. The Raven Queen bless your soul. Go get him." he encourages the man to keep up his efforts to keep us both alive.
