Chapter 6: The Evil Queen & Her Fortress

"As it is your spell I will leave that decision to you it was just a thought. I think it is most likely a physical pass, like it will get you buy a guard post as one of the Queens soldiers type thing but I think it is unwise to rule out potential magic when dealing with a magic using Queen."

I will take the short swords if for nothing more than to melt them down and create a masterpiece from their metal. That is why I came here you know to find metal to feed my forge.

"Thank you Egon, maybe when we arrive in town I can see if this amulet has any magical properties. If not, we can sell it for more gold." Safely puts the amulet away.

The short swords are actually in a lot better shape than most of the goblins have had and not too bad compared to the ones the orcs used you can tell in this evil army the lower the status the crappier the quality of weapons and armor.

(Break down, Goblin weapons fairly crude, some slightly rusty or worn. Hobgoblins normal to good quality no rust kept fairly sharp. Orcs good quality weapons sharpened well, no rush or blemishes. Ogre's and half ogre's fairly good quality but you can tell the brutes literally use whatever they can find for weapons ie tree as a club.)

Egon will look around for anywhere to hide the bodies.

Looking around there isn't really anywhere close by to hide bodies unless you drag them way back to the ogre lair, the holding cell area/slave pens or back to the entrance.

"Lets not worry about hiding these bodies, time isn't on our side, we need to keep moving."

Now that we have killed off a couple Hobgoblins they will be looking for intruders. Best to keep moving.

Trist

Trist says, "I agree we should keep moving. I'll send Jivet ahead with Egon or whoever is scouting ahead."

"Jivet move ahead with Egon, please."

Pocketing the talismans unsure of what they are or mean you forge ahead going down the passage the hobgoblins were heading before the distraction of Misha and Krofter. The two decoys return to the group and follow along. Heading down the passage you can see after about 100 yards of travel torch light up ahead flickering on two sides of the passage the light also indicates that the passage widens closer to the torches. You can see two of the half ogre looking creatures standing at guard posts closer to the torch lit area ahead. The distance to the lit area is at least another 60 yards away and the guards appear to not notice your group.

Jivet from her hidden scouting position flies right up to the guards and they indeed are real and breathing she notices that there are no other guards in the immediate vicinity near the two. They both are wielding some sort of polearm that looks like it has a cleaver like blade at the end just on a shorter pole than the standard glaive would have the ceiling also is higher the closer to the guards Jivet notices. She also picks up that things look a lot more chiseled and defined in the stonework. She then looks about the guards just hear a slight noise of her flight but think nothing of it. To the left of the guards is a short passage about 20 feet or so long that ends in a door, the same to the right of their position. Directly behind them is a passage that leads about twice as far to a double set of doors. Jivet then reports back to Trist and the information is then passed along to the rest of the group.

Whispering, "Looks like an ambush point once they sound an alarm."

Therick says, "Perhaps we should see what the other 3 unexplored passages hold, before deciding how to deal with the two half-ogre guards. It may help prevent an ambush, if one is possible."

"I am fine going back and exploring some more, but I think we will need to end up back here eventually."

"Perhaps, we should charge guards before they have the change to sound the alarm"

"If we try the unexplored branch that is on the right side of the tunnel that leads to the Ogre Lair, perhaps that will let us come up behind the to ogreish guards."

Weston nods and whispers "I have spell of Hold Person, but I feel that is best saved for the citadel itself, so I concur."

Looks at the Del and Elan discussing the route. So what if we get ambushed in the side hall? Then we are going to have those two half-ogres on our tail. it is better to take them out now and not stumble into a two front battle later.

Hoist his shield and javelin and watches the corner for movement.

"Which is it then? Guards or unexplored corridor? I agree with Grimnir, but we Dwarves tend to be more direct."

Therick says, "I think we should at least get some idea what is down the unexplored passages first. Besides, unless we nail both guards from behind at the same time, while covering their mouths, unless someone has a silence spell, they are going to make noise regardless".

Trist says softly, "I'll send Jivet to scout and follow any others while we go behind them."

Trist mentally asks, "Jivet please scout the unexplored areas with the other scouts. Be careful my dear."
