Maskelyn
Maskelyn joins Draupadi on the rope. He counts cadence, trying to ensure that the rope handlers are in rythym. Pull..and Pull..and Pull..and Pull..

Ko-nan waits with his axe held high - ready to cleave anything else but Finver that should arise out of the darkness!

Mungo eyes the hideous god at the stairway with a lot more than a little alarm. He joins the others in hurriedly pulling the rope.

Caveman Dwelling at the Starfall, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Morning. Saturday, April 14th, 912 CY

Image

The Slime God is coming!

With all their might, the adventurers pull Finver out of the chasm in the impact crater moments before the rippling, writhing abomination of eyes and mouths finds him and bends him to its hideous, alien will!

They all retreat from the rim, lest they be seen, and Finver reveals what he recovered: two etched iron fragments of the fallen star. When pieced together, they form a strange symbol!

Image

None of them recognize the otherworldly motif. But Draupadi and Mungo both believe they know what it is. A Glyph of Warding!

In urgent whispers, they share their insight with their friends.

Finver clambers over the lip of the chasm and collapses on his fellows. He raises himself from the pile of bodies and staggers away from the edge with caution. "Thank ya, all! That was close, but now what?" in between labored breaths. He removes the fragments from his pouch to show Draupadi and Mungo with hands still trembling visibily. He shows his fellows the strange glyphs and tries to match the broken pieces back into a whole.

"There's got ta be a way ta put this djinni back in its lamp! What do we do with it?" he wonders aloud. "We should get somewhere safer ta figure it out!" as he looks for any options to escape.

Ko-Nan eyes the fragment suspiciously as they emerge. He keeps his axe raised and his senses alert for more slime to follow behind them.

Anticipating the end of Connak's sentence, Fiefo has already turned and started walking away. After a few steps he looks back over his shoulder.

"Look, I've got a good ten or twelve years left til I die of old age. Some of you maybe even more than that. How fast does this thing grow? We could just hide out and avoid it for a decade. Then it's the wizard's problem... let him figure it out...," he says.

Mungo doesn't at all mind putting some distance between himself and the slime god. He goes along with the others. He says to Draupadi, and the group in general, Any ideas about how we can glyph that thing? It looks like somebody managed to get it into a container and sealed it with a ward. I don't know how we can do that.
Or something like that.

Maskelyn
Maskelyn shoots Fiefo a dirty look as he hurries along. Sure, Doc- that's fine for you. What about guys like me? My grandmother remembered The Poc'lypse. I got maybe a hundred years left, and I don't wanna be playing footsie with Tall, Dark, and Slimy forever.

Draupadi

To Mungo, "Perhaps if we can get it all underground, cave in the caverns on it. Not easy and then we would have to figure out how to seal it with Glyphs. Not sure it would work but the only thing I can think of at the moment."

Caveman Dwelling at the Starfall, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Late Morning. Saturday, April 14th, 912 CY

Image

Bearing away iron fragments of the fallen star, the adventurers flee through the slime-coated jungle, away from hideous Slime God!

Some half mile from its lair, they discover the creeping edge of the radiating slime blight. So far, it has not infected any of them. Fiefo counsels that they continue on and don't look back. But none share his opinion.

They examine the shards and begin to form a plan. They believe the strange glyph once imprisoned the Slime God. Tomorrow, Draupadi and Mungo can create more glyphs like that one. The adventurers know of three exits from the slime caverns; the way they entered, the way they left, and the rift at the bottom of the impact crater.

Connak will volunteer to take first watch, while the magic-wielding folks talk about wards and the like, keeping an eye out for the expansion of the Creeping Green Doom.

Maskelyn
Maskelyn reluctantly takes a guard shift- he's just lazy that way.

To Draupadi: It ain't my kinda magic, so I'm not sure- but making the caves into a bottle to store the thing in sounds good.
