Harborside, Ground Floor to the Mausoleum

Moving down the gore-strewn corridor causes Yarl to yak up what little breakfast he ate before the attack on the Lantern, spewing the wall and leaving him weak in the knees. Tommy likewise hacks up a hairball as the pair reach a set of stairs leading down. The sounds of battle - was that a human scream? - echo below. Taking the stairs, the pair come to a landing and another long hallway. This one looks like it was burned recently and Yarl remembers it well from his previous visit to the hospital.
Lets get yer' friend and get the fuck outta here... he growls, trying not to retch again.

Tommy moves forward and the pair come to a large room that looks to be a place where the dead are prepared for internment. The sounds of battle are close. Men are shouting and something is snarling and growling...and then...silence.
A few seconds pass and Tommy hears Ambergris' voice.
"We secure this chamber until the men can rouse themselves, then move on. The dead do not rest, neither should we."

The pair move ahead quickly, past tables of the dead and a large pile of rubble and there they find the aged sea captain, a lizardfolk shaman and five members of the Flaming Fist. Two other guards are on the ground; one paralyzed, one not to get up again.
"Big Cat!" Lesh says, coming toward Tommy and grasping his forearm in greeting. He has a toothy smile on his face and Yarl can't tell if he's glad to see them or if he's hungry.

Three pale, emaciated creatures lie on the ground around the feet of the men. Ghouls of the grave, returned to the state of the dead.
Down the long dark passage there is nothing but silence...and the far off sound of dripping water.

Back together again!

Tommy greets Lesh with the grasp of the forearm and a slap on the shoulder, he can't hide his smile and gratitude to see him even among the macabre scenery
then with a nod to the old and salty captain says

looks like you've been busy...
steps back making a circle to introduce his friends to each other

you know the Vanthampur family is behind all of this, not only were they working with the dead three but they also have dealings with devils, Amirk had devils protecting him, we (he nods to Yarl) just had to fight through that but he escaped the damned little bitch he is, eventually that cesspool will need to be drained, i know where their house is in the noble district and i intend to go as soon as im healed up, think about it while we settle what's left here

then slaps his hands and rubbing them together as he continues
so what's going on down here, looks like you made good work on the way down, there's people already cleaning up what's left but at the yard there also a lot of injured who need help, there's been a lot of activity in the city and the wounded keep coming

He signals to Lesh to give any last rites to the dead guard and we can wait an hour if needed for the other two men to regain their feet.

Ambergris Wisdom check vs 12 [1d20]=13. Would I know how long the ghoulish paralysis lasts?

"A dread thing this news. A man gains power then gets corrupted by it." he says in regard to Amrik. "It seems our calling is but to serve the city and the gods."

He pops a few pills for his migraine and enjoys the respite from any undead horde. "Caffeine and mandrake infused sugar cubes. Special order from Jopalin's. Here take one."

not being one to shy away from new experiences he takes the infused sugar cubes
there's a lot of people hurt outside, thought there's some healers they are having to make hard choices and some won't even make it out an hour, if there's a need to rest it's better to do it outside, it's just a minutes walk
he gestures to the way out

lets block the door and return to methodically clean the building, if anything we'll just need someone with a horn to let us know if there's any more activity here and we can come back to hold them back before the rest is done

if there's no objection to resting outside and blocking the door Tommy braces and starts carrying one of the wounded or paralyzed soldiers

as he walks he asks the soldiers if anyone has a horn to call for help if needed, if no one has a horn he takes a signal whistle from his back pack to hands it to the manip
can you have someone guard the position?

Yarl doesn't correct the Cat when he is introduced as a friend. "Who the hells does this guy think he is anyway?" Yarl thinks to himself "Don't know where he came from or what his game is but he sure moves from person to person right quick". I ain't got shit to do with fuckers like the Vanthampurs. I do got people outside who need healing.. He looks at the group. Which one of ya is the healer? he says anxious to get out of this place.

Tommy's arrival and revelation about the Vanthampur patriar family gets more than one stare from the guards of the Flaming Fist, especially the Manip. Thinking fast, Ambergris says, "Guards of the Flaming Fist. These men are my crewmates. So you can rest at ease."
While Lesh begins performing last rites on the dead, Ambergris muses about the paralysis and what he knows about these ghoulish creatures. After a few seconds, he realizes the guards could snap out of it any minute.
(They get a saving throw every minute.)

While Ambergris and Tommy pop pills and infused sugar cubes, Yarl makes it plain he has no love for anyone but his own. Figuring the lizard man to be the healer, he watches as Lesh performs last rites on the dead. The Manip's sudden question causes him to flinch.
"You're with the Rats are you not?"
"Yeah, the same who sent some good men back to the mud with those Faithless fuckers." This from another guard (Keever).

Yarl squares up to the Manip. Yeah, Im a fucking Rat.. He looks from the Manip to Keever. Ask around, the only men Rats sent to the mud was the Faithless. They fucked with the Fist, the Rats and Brampton all in one night. Cost them all their fucking heads.

He looks away from both. A few of us was here at Harborside when all the shit started. A kid of ours went missing in the sewers, we found her in a bad way and got here fer healing. Then the Faithless blew up shit outside and started killin'. We hid inside until the dead came up from below.
A young priest Tobias, a Doctor and me tried to hold em back but the dead just kept comin'... They didn't make it so all that could, ran for it. Got back to Rivington to find the Faithless burned out me home and killed me friends.

"These men are the enemies of the Undead. Leave them be. Your enemy's enemy might not be your friend but unless you want his sword to be your enema ... let them pass."

Ambergris proficiency with Intimidation [1d20+2]=8+2=10

He sort of mimes with his hook hand some buttock scratching to the guard.

"Ah, exploring the back passage.

We should be going."
he says and walks into the other section of the room.

There is a bit of posturing and threatening glares and stares, but in the end, the Fist stands down at the order of their Manip, and the two paralyzed guards are able to move again.
Save: [1d20]=18 [1d20]=19

The group moves out of the corridor and into the preparation room while the Manip posts guards at the door leading into the chamber. They have a supply of torches and arrows, and a whistle (given them by Tommy).
(I'm assuming you are leaving the room and returning to the ground floor...for now; if I am mistaken please say so and I'll edit my post.)

Up the stairs and onto the landing at the top...and things are already beginning to look a little better. The dead have been cleared from the hall and three acolytes are wiping down the walls and floors. A young man dressed in a fresh smock and pants walks out of a room, shaking his head. Upon seeing you, he straightens a bit and offers a slight smile.
"Ah, how are the under caves? Did you find any evidence of where the horde of walking dead came from?"

There is a loud ruckus in the room he just came from and he clears his throat and turns red-faced, glancing back and forth at the door and your group.

Yarl does not want to be invilved with the dead. Yarl doesn't even like most of the living.

He turns to the lizard man Errrr are you the priest? The Cat said you could heal some of me crew? A few of them are in bad shape...

Tommy sees the tension between Yarl and the guards dissipate a bit and then as Yarl goes on to talk with the priests, his attention turns  to the young man with fresh smock, seems to be trying to divert their attention and of course does the total opposite for Tommy :)

we'll they are mostly cleared but we needed a bit of a respite and reassessment, make sure to keep an aye on the door down there (he points down the hall from where they came from and when the man turs to look he slips in to the room he was blocking and continues talking) let us know if you hear strange noises, this looks like a place to rest a bit

he walks in to the room and to inspect the happenings

Yarl gives the cleric his full attention. Yeah, I'm Blacktongue and yeah, I'm here with Diamond.. He takes Chess's offered hand. Good to get a fucking response from someone. He looks around before continuing Yeah lets get in there an' see me crew.
Hope you and yer Ilmater boys can help em. Gods know most of us have suffered enough.

Once pleasantries are exchanged, the hospital room is open and Chess leads everyone inside. It is packed with injured men and women, some beyond saving, some where acolytes of the Crying God hold their hand and sit with them as they pass on to the next life. There are several young acolytes and clerics wearing bloodstained smocks walking around the room. Many are carrying water and bandages, some are carrying hot tea, all overseen by a woman in plate mail who looks like death warmed over.

"Lady Wen!" Chess calls to her. "These have come to help. They have people in here, friends, maybe family."
Yarl's hard heart skips a beat as he beholds the holy warrior of Torm again. She recognizes him and walks over, sure and confident.
"Kingpin! We meet again. Similar circumstances, yes? You have friends in here?"

Yarls heart is a flutter. "Gods, what a woman." he thinks to himself while gazing at the warrior woman before him. Ahhhh well met my lady... errr Lady Wen he says while stretching out his arm for a warriors handshake. Inwardly he winces, "Stupid fuck, she aint gonna touch yer grubby hand you fucking gutter rat."

The mausoleum is eerily quiet. Bobb and Keever offer to stay with Lesh and the trio stand on the platform just inside the door. The lanterns continue to burn, driving back the darkness of the tomb. For several minutes, the only sounds are the breathing of the guards and the distant dripping of water. Then...softly at first but growing louder...comes a rustling sound somewhere past the rubble in the southern corridor. Lesh is the first to hear it, but soon it is loud enough for Bobb and Keever to make it out as well.

Appearing around the corner of the rubble are creatures of darkness! Two of them, possibly more, hover for a moment and then move forward, jumping from bier to bier. They are coming for you!
