Caveman Dwelling near the Starfall, Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Nightfall. Friday, April 13th, 912 CY

Image

Triumphant, the adventurers cautiously move past the repulsive, slime-covered cadavers and edge deeper into the tunnel.

With a sacred miracle, Draupadi heals Connak (+5hp). Maskelyn's fiery illusion and Draupadi's spectral hammer wink out of existence.

They descend more steps cut into the rock. Finver surmises this area to be a natural cavern that was further carved and crudely. There is no stonework evident at the level of his dwarf clan.

Draupadi's and Mungo's lights push back the darkness, revealing a great cavern devoid of life. It must be the living quarters of the friendly caveman tribe they "remember." To the north are two channels out, one with stone steps descending.

Undisturbed here are sleeping nests, a cooking area, dead torches planted in the ground, and cave paintings, two of which appear new:

Finver examines the cave painting on the wall and suggests, "Looks like tha path of that fallin star goes that way, let's follow it..."

Maskelyn
Maskelyn rummages through the cooking area. I think the artist is one of those folks the killer spiderweb ate.

Can we wait till morning to chase the falling star? I mean, we've got a dry place here, maybe we ought to use it- rest up and get ready for whatever crazy The Trickster throws at us next.

Ko-nan grunts, "If they come back. They aren't here now," and continues to search for food.

Mungo
I've got plenty of Altrusian food, if anybody's hungry. The vermivore doesn't especially care for Altrusian food, he wouldn't mind offloading some of it.

Connak I agree, it is getting dark, this seems a good place to rest and heal up a bit. But we had best post guards in case those things come this way again, or worse, have friends. Maybe a quick exploration to see where this other passage goes? I hate the thought of being trapped in here.

Mungo perhaps ill-advisedly, splits off and pans his headlamp around at the entrance to the passageway to the left.

Caveman Dwelling near the Starfall, Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Night. Friday, April 13th, 912 CY

Image

In the dark caveman dwelling near the starfall, the adventurers have found no life except the gruesome, living slime-cadavers.

Ko-Nan and Maskelyn move toward a cold firepit and see fresh berries, and smoked meat hung nearby.

Fiefo and Mungo peer into the two natural caves that range from this cavern. They too are eerily devoid of life.

Finver strokes his beard in thought aloud to Connak and any others within earshot, "Somethin' ain't right here, fellas. Tha fire pit and tha food tells me there's more than slimies livin' around here. I'm gonna check tha rest of these walls fer cave paintin' that might tells us more." He'll carefully move around the perimeter of the room clockwise checking the walls for any indications or clues.

Maskelyn gulps down a handful of the berries, then Found some food over here!
He scrounges around for something to bundle the food in- a pouch, a clean pelt, whatever.

Mungo says, When we're done here, there's another empty cave of to the left. But don't take my word for it about the "empty" part. He walks around the room with Finver, shining his headlamp on the walls.

Ko-Nan hacks off a mouthful of meat and stuffs his face. At the mention of more cave to explore he too heads north to make sure they are all indeed empty - or at least without threat.

"Glad ta search with ya, old fella! Too bad their foodstuffs don't include any worms fer ya, but I imagine ya may find a few in this moist earth." Finver observes aloud to his mole-man companion as he prods the walls with his war hammer's haft. "It's odd, though, I don't see any signs of water.[/dialog]"
