[003] Into the War Camp
Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Ha moves to put the fire behind him, to give him the best chance to see whatever is out there. If he can get far enough to see the bakemono, he will fire an armor piercer at them, if possible.
Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Sorry, there was an error on Toshizo's sheet. His BAP should be 9 (partially encumbered DFT 18.87 / 2), rather than 5. No secondary AP, it's lost because of the encumbrance. (Actually I need to check and confirm that).
Toshizo's adjusted BCS 11 kyujutsu roll of 9 didn't hit? I guess because of the bakemono-sho's AC.

If Eiji catches up to a Bakemono he will whop it with his spade trying to make it drop the corpse.

Souta:
Souta is going to hold her second action.
Taka:
Taka is going to emerge from the building after hearing the stray's growls and the recognizable sound of the bowstrings loosing arrows. She sees the light of the fire and the two bushi with their bows drawn. The darkness outside is hiding what is going on to her. What is going on out here?, she says quietly as she steps out of the building to join Souta and Toshizo at the corner of the building and out of the firelight, where her eyes will begin to adjust.
Souta is going to hold her second action.

Re: [003] Into the War Camp
This is correct. I think Souta has the newest version of the Bushi sheet if you want to transfer to that template. The "encumbrance" toggle at the top figures all that automatically.jemmus wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:15 pm Sorry, there was an error on Toshizo's sheet. - Manually: When partially encumbered, his Deftness is 25 *.75 = 18 which gives a BAP of 9. His speed is 20 *.75 = 15, which is the minimum needed for a second action (1.5 rounds up to 2). So, you have a basic/primary action on 9 and a secondary action on 4. If unarmored, he acts on 12 and 6.
- He still suffers the -1 BCS to all rolls for encumbrance.
He missed because of both AC and cover (for being in a hole). It's listed out in the spoiler of the post.
Ha is unencumbered and takes 1 action on phase 5, but has amazing Strength and Health.
I updated the turn order below.
Turn Order:
Ha emerges from the building and moves to put the fire behind him, to give him the best chance to see whatever is out there. He draws his bow and an armor piercing arrow.
Toshizo has a secondary action, but as noted, this is not very helpful to archers.
(Round 1, Phase 3)
Souta said she's holding her secondary action.
(Round 1, Phase 2)
Taka emerges from the building after hearing the stray's growls and the recognizable sound of the bowstrings loosing arrows.
Jīva gives a warning growl low in his throat, hackles raising as he stays at Eiji's side, eyes fixed on the bakemono-sho ahead of them.
With the rear-most of them squealing as he is stuck with an arrow, the three bakemono-sho redouble their efforts, trying to hurry north still dragging their ill-gotten corpses. The one at the front turns and scolds the squealing goblin harshly, at which he silences.
Pausing here for Souta's primary action.
Toshizo then goes on Phase 9. Then Eiji (if he charges the goblins, I will use the rolls above), Souta again, Ha, Toshizo again, Souta again, and finally Taka.

Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Souta flips her katana free of the saya with her thumb and casts aside her bow. She charges in the dim light and strikes at the bakemono-sho she hit with an arrow only moments ago.
(BCS 10)[1d20]=12; Damage [1d6 +2]=err12 Lethal
I think I am counting 20 hexes allowing a charge with a strike at the end. I mucked up the annotation for the damage roll and I didn't look at the environmental modifiers to the attack but will take a look at those rules in the morning.
*Edit: I would like to make a case for the attacker being at the target's side facing +5, unable to see (-9-1 = -8), charging +1 and the target is passive +5, unable to see attacker +9-level of target = +12-level of target
Here is a redo of the damage roll with the correct annotation, Damage [1d6]=4+2, Lethal
(BCS 10)[1d20]=12; Damage [1d6 +2]=err12 Lethal

Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Turn Order:
(Round 2, Phase 10)
Souta stows her bow and flips her katana free of the saya with her thumb. She charges in the dim light and strikes at the bakemono-sho she hit with an arrow only moments ago. Her blade slices downward hard on the rear of his shoulder, making the small creature cry out in pain again as his haori split open and soaked in blood. (-6)
(Round 2, Phase 9)
His first arrow thudding into the ground, Toshizo draws and fires again, still hoping to protect Eiji as the goblins clamber from the open grave. His arrow arcs upward in the darkness and then comes down, the broadhead plunging deep into the chest of the bakemono-sho, the feather fletching sticking upward at a sharp angle. (-13) The creature squeals in agony.
(Round 2, Phase 6)
With Jiva pacing at his side, Eiji steps forward and smacks the squalling bokemono-sho with his monk's spade, knocking it unconscious. It collapses forward onto the mound of grave dirt as its two companions look on wide-eyed and prepare to abandon and flee.
Pausing here for Souta's secondary action on Phase 6 and Ha's action on phase 5 (plus any other declarations, since the bakemono-sho don't go again until the top of the next turn.)

Re: [003] Into the War Camp
I assumed side facing because the bakemono-sho is dragging a body along behind it. That is also why I assumed passive - it isn't actively engaged in the fight, it is passive as far as the encounter because it is focused on its task of dragging the corpse. That is where my thinking was on it at any rate.
Souta slashes again at the Bakemono-sho and returns her katana to a defensive position to leave her body less exposed to any retaliatory strikes.
(BCS 5)[1d20]=12; Damage [1d6]=3+2 Lethal
Parry (BCS 10)[1d20]=18

Perfect, that's exactly what I wanted Toshizo to do, down to using the watakushi bowel raker.

Can I see anything?
Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Yes - thanks for asking. I clarified in a spoiler somewhere above that both Ha and Toshizo were now aware of both groups. They are in dim light beyond the fire. You see Souta engaged with the rearmost goblin of one group, Eiji engaged with the other group, and Toshizo (behind you) shot an arrow.
Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Okay. I'll shoot at one of those in the front group.
Kyujutsu BCS- 12+1(level)+1(AP arrow)+2(point blank)= 16
[1d20]=15 I assume a miss between AC and any sight modifiers.

Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Taka peers across the light of the fire vaguely aware of the dangers as her companions head in different directions away from the hideout. Her unanswered question hangs in the air behind the twang of bow strings and the thudding sound of a spade. She looks deeply into the heart of the fire to distance herself from the activity taking place directly around her, empties her mind of distraction, and attempts to send her mind from the utsushiyo to the kakuriyo. Her body grows cold with the attempt, the utsushiyo darkens around her, and her body remains planted firmly with her eyes gazing into the fire Souta prepared. The fire crackles and spits embers into the air and Taka's mind wanders back unsuccessful in the attempt.

Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Toshizo drew a willow leaf arrow from his quiver and loosed it at a warty bake near Eiji.
If the first bakemono-sho is still alive, he'll shot it. If dead, he shoots at the one next-closet to Eiji.
BCS 12, +2 (point blank), +0 (willow leaf), -1 (partially encumbered) = BCS 13.
[1d20+1]=19+1=20[2d6+2]=8+2=10
Damage is wrong, a willow leaf arrow shouldn't get +2. Actual damage is 6 HP instead of 10.

Souta's third action is a parry (rolled in the previous post)
Re: [003] Into the War Camp
Turn Order:
(Round 2, Phase 6)
With Jiva pacing at his side, Eiji steps forward and smacks the squalling bokemono-sho with his monk's spade, knocking it unconscious. It collapses forward onto the mound of grave dirt as its two companions look on wide-eyed and prepare to abandon and flee.
Souta slashes again at the Bakemono-sho, but the warty little creature ducks under the swinging blade, still gripping its corpse-prize. She returns her katana to a defensive position to leave her body less exposed to any retaliatory strikes.
(Round 2, Phase 5)
Ha launches an arrow at the goblins ahead of Souta, the arrow sailing past them and into the dark, clattering against the stone cliffside.
(Round 2, Phase 2)
Taka peers across the light of the fire vaguely aware of the dangers as her companions head in different directions away from the hideout. Her unanswered question hangs in the air behind the twang of bow strings and the thudding sound of a spade. She looks deeply into the heart of the fire to distance herself from the activity taking place directly around her, empties her mind of distraction, and attempts to send her mind from the utsushiyo to the kakuriyo. Her body grows cold with the attempt, the utsushiyo darkens around her, and her body remains planted firmly with her eyes gazing into the fire Souta prepared. The fire crackles and spits embers growing from a physical light into a spiritual one, the warm glow expanding around her. But equally, the mouth of the cave opens and expands, pure spiritual blackness, an enveloping mass of anti-light rushing forcefully towards her. Taka is startled and loses her concentration, blinking back into the real world, her breathing rapid.
(Round 3, Phase 14)
From the darkness of the cave, a watakushi arrow with tremendous force whirs past Souta's head and into the night beyond. In the dim light, none see this but her.
(Round 3, Phase 12)
Taking their cue from the errant bowshot, the three bakemono-sho turn in unison and leap to attack Amano Souta! They each hold a wakizashi, which they had been hiding in their hand beneath the corpses they were dragging. The first two turn to face her, rushing her with their short sword blades. She deftly maneuvers the first blade, but the second catches her with precision (-6). The third goblin, heavily wounded by Souta already, sidesteps and lashes out at her with all of its hatred and malice, plunging the sword deep into the side of her abdomen (-18). Even in the dim light, the others see Souta buckle as the three bakemono-sho converge.
Seeing their companion taken down by the arrow and the monk's shovel, the other two goblins turn and flee, running towards the cave mouth past Souta. (They 'turn' on Phase 12, breaking Eiji's engagement of them, and will run 4 hexes on phase 6.)
Pausing for Souta's choice/action. Others may also amend their actions.

Souta collapses.
I'll opt for the unconscious option - did the rule get house ruled so that I don't need to have ki to spend to bring the damage back to 1, per 1061.3 on page 22?
