Sven takes a moment to awaken the others, quickly explaining to them what has happened with visual and audible aids coming from Orgoth, still struggling to keep the door closed.

He has Amos attempt to turn the skeletons away. If that doesn't work, the cleric will join in the melee. (not sure if I should be rolling for that or not)

The young mage cheers on his even larger friend Orgoth for his heroics at the ho-door as he readies one of his precious vials of holy water, waiting to see the effects of the spells and pious banishment before deciding if he will use it or not.

Barrow Maze.

Battle of the (former) tapestry room.
8.16pm. Candlelight (Sven).

The bone-men, disturbed in their rest, assail the tomb robbing adventurers. They breakthrough the door and the first rank of the skeletons raise rusty weapons and hack the living flesh standing in front of them.

On the back front, spells, prayers and defences are prepared. The skeletons prove to be former warriors of excellence, gaining initiative and pressing their advantage, each blade finds blood and the party are brutally assaulted. Sven -2hp, Orgoth -2hp, Gerdal -1hp, Amos -5hp

In reply, Orgoth obliterates a skeleton into seperate pieces, cleaving ribcage from spine, pelvis from leg and chopping a skull to roll across the floor.

Gerdal, being injured loses her spell after taking damage.

Amos, injured worst of all and close to meeting his maker, stands his ground steadfastly and despite the oppressive doom and eerie presence haunting the Barrowmaze, his prayers are answered and his divine wrath this time invokes a holy terror into the undead. They turn, running down the corridor in an uncoordinated rout ... all but one. Before Sven can act, the shattered remains of the dead-again skeleton crack and fracture and then explode in sharp splinters.

You each dive for cover, hoping your dexterity allows you to dodge the shrapnel sufficiently.
each make a 4d6 vs Dex check to take half damage from the bones -2hp, failure means you take the rolled -5hp.

Anyone in scale, chain, banded armour gains a -1 to the roll due to armour type protection.

as this is the first time you have faced such a challenge, the check is a hard one. But future checks vs exploding bones will be at a normal 3d6 as you are forewarned of the danger.

Orgoth

Dives for cover.

Dex check w/Chain bonus (10) [4d6-1]=17-1=16

Takes 5hp damage, I think that puts him a 5hp.

Hard DEX check vs 12 [4d6]=18

Which would put her at exactly 0 (3+3 originally). -1 from the skeleton attack, -5 from the shrapnels.

Retain lv 1 spell vs 15 [4d6+1]=17+1=18

Sven starts to wish he was the one whimpering at the bottom of the pit at the moment.

Hard Dex Check (15) [4d6]=14

Barely able to dodge the bone fragments, the mage dives for cover, glad that only one of the skeletons exploded.

Wait.........EXPLODING SKELETONS??? WTH???

Looking around after the carnage to see how bad the injuries were, Sven starts to wish they would have all left with Steban like the soldier suggested.

He rushes to the door, trying to determine which way most of the skeletons went.

Barrow Maze.

Battle of the (former) tapestry room.
8.17pm. Candlelight (Sven).

Conditions: Sven -4hp, Gerdal -6hp, (-3hp), Orgoth -7hp, Amos -7hp, Isvand -4hp, Steban -7hp

The guys become pin cushions to needle like splinters of sharp bone which stab into them. You have not experienced such before but you can tie this in to the graffiti on the wall
the bones shatter
. They each take -2hp

Gerdal though is not so lucky. The skull rolls by her feet and explodes sending shrapnel into arteries and vital organs. She falls, bleeding from numerous mini wounds.

The amphora of Hurtloam has also cracked under the attack (failing save vs normal blow) and the sticky mud is in a state of 'use it or lose it'.

The skeletons fled down the corridor and by the sound, through door D. There were six of them running. They will not come back for a few rounds, after that, who knows? The door to the ex-tapestry room is splintered and dangling off one hinge, some panels hacked through. It could be closed but certainly not secured.

Your candlelight lantern is unharmed, grazed here and there but still functioning.

Harkazz sneaks in and checks on Gerdal, tugging at her clothes and licking her face in fruitless attempts to wake her up.

Sven is visibly shaken after the attack, unable to hide his anger over the broken jar and its invaluable contents leaking out.

He positions Gerdal in the corner under a portion of broken coffin or something similar before applying one dose of the magic mud to her wounds.

“Orgoth, you should patch yourself up with this stuff too. Make a mud pack over any wounds. Kinda like this.” He finishes up with the woman before scraping up the last of the healing loam. “Amos, get over here. We are going to split this last bit so we both get some help. If it wasn’t for you, we’d all be dead right now.”

After getting everyone patched up, literally, Sven vents for a moment.

“We need to go check on Isvand in the pit, but we need to discuss something first. If those skeletons see us again, or even worse, come back here, we better be ready for them. We can’t afford another attack like that, we will all be killed.”

“We need to come up with a way to fight them back from a distance, without engaging in any melee. We need to figure out a way to do that. NOW! Before we go out there again.”

Orgoth

Orgoth applies mud to himself as Svenn suggested. "Javelins is all I have for attacking from afar."

Barrow Maze.

Battle of the (former) tapestry room.
8.40pm. Candlelight (Sven).

The immediate triage of the battle casualties are seen too. Gerdal smothered in the pungent loam. Her injuries are more critical and she cannot be moved very far. Cloaks are laid on the flagstones as a very minimal blanket. Her chameleon familiar stays close by and as the loam dries you can see the crust take the colour of the stone and bone rubble which is against the wall. With the candle dimmed, even infravision only picks up the slightest of highlighted warmth though she lies just across the room.

The other three apply Hurtloam also, walking wounded with a leg or arm in plaster, Amos has a helm of mud applied to his bald head. You are as covered as the victors of Maydays mud wrestle.

The brief respite from the skeletons renewed attacks give you chance to whisper strategy.

Amos has a sling and two egg shaped stones which have an unknown boon. He has a spell, Sanctuary which may provide a temporary ward to one person. "I agree we should locate the skeletons. I felt distinctly that the atmosphere is oppressive and crushes the holy words of faith. My rebuke turned them but it was much harder to vocalize that divine wrath than it was against the skeletons we met at the Barrow Mound. I fear my faith weakens which each command."

figure a cumulative penalty for each 'Turn Undead' attempted.

You can close the battered door in place though it will not hold anyone back who wants entry.

Give me an action: stay in the room and hope for the best, check out Isvand and the hallway, check out the north corridor or anything else?

Orgoth

Orgoth will take watch as everyone rests, once he thinks its been long enough for the pit trap to reset he will go and try and trigger it to open without falling in and have the rope ready to pull Isvand out.

Whispering into the hole from before. "Are you OK Isvand?, I am going to try and get you out."

Sven shakes his head at the bad news from Amos, urging the others to follow him back out into the hallway now, before they settle down to rest.

"I guess running away is our best offense against the exploding skeletons then. If they come back here while we're gone, Gerdal's lizard will be forced to protect her."

He closes the door as best he can before heading back towards door D and the pit beyond. Making sure the coast is clear, he moves to the edge of the pit with Orgoth and Amos, hoping Isvand has snapped out of his fear.

Barrow Maze.

Rescuing Isvand.
9.10pm. Candlelight lantern (Sven).

After a short respite, the trio agree to rescue Isvand from the pit sooner rather than later. Going collectively and trusting in fate and Harkazz' to shield the recuperating Gerdal from any dangers that would intrude.

You make it to the hallway, a few steps past the door to unknown wonders. Orgoth triggers the trap and lowers a rope to haul out the recovered halfling from his pitiful oubliette.

Ever watchful Amos indicates a commotion further down the east end of the corridor where the grazing fire beetles, their red pituitary glands softly glowing, try to scuttle away from three bone-men who stab and hack at them with abandon. One beetle is caught and rendered asunder by the rusty blades, a second climbs up the wall and takes to the tomb ceiling to be out of reach. His skeleton assailant stands and reaches to impale the critter but missed. However, in doing so he notices the trio of gawping adventurers on the other side of the pit.

actions for Sven and Amos and group initiative please. Isvand may climb out this round as Orgoth hauls him up.

As discussed earlier, Sven deals with the skeletons to cover the extraction, but ONLY from a distance. “Everyone stay on this side of the pit! Hopefully it will act as a barricade between us.”

He wants to cast a spell to aid the rescue but turns to Amos instead. “Maybe it’s time to find out what those magic stones do. Why don’t you fire one of them down the hallway at the group before they get too close.”

The mage stays near the corner of the hallway, ready to dive for cover, in case any of the skeletons EXPLODE! “Get ready to turn them if they figure out how to cross the pit.”

Barrow Maze.

Rescuing Isvand.
9.12pm. Candlelight lantern (Sven).

ooh! this might go well ....

Orgoth braces himself with his spear in one hand, belayed rope across his shoulder and held in the other. Isvand climbs out of the pit. Seeing the trio of skeletons charging, intent on leaping the pit and assailing the group, Amos grabs a random magic stone and puts it in the sling cup, twirling it and releasing it with tremendous power but absolutely no accuracy at all. He completely fumbles and the stone ricochets off the wall of the pit where it cracks like an egg, shooting a stream of thin sticky strands in a myriad of directions like a starburst.

The skeletons all athletically leap across the pit only to be snared mid flight by the eruption of the magic web. They dangle, teeth chattering and flailing. The spider web stretches from wall to wall and from the pit floor to the ceiling.

next actions please.
Amos slings stone B or G [1d2]=2 [1d20+1]=1+1=2 [1d4+2]=4+2=6
Skeleton run to leap pit vs10 strength [3d6]=10 [3d6]=10 [3d6]=11

the fumble I ruled would go in the pit which actually worked much better than scoring a critical hit!

Sven looks around at the others with saucers for eyes.

“Wha….coul….can you believe that? I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

He stops Isvand before he moves in to attack the vulnerable targets.

“Don’t get to close to these things. They can explode. See all this mud? I’ll explain later, but right now, I think it’s time for some target practice, boys.”

Sven stays at his position near the corner, but starts picking up any nearby rocks from the rubble and throwing them violently towards the chattering undead.

Thrown Item [1d20+1]=18+1=19

He encourages the others to do the same, saving their real ammunition for another fight.

Couple more rolls if you need them:
Thrown Item [1d20+1]=18+1=19 :)
Thrown Item [1d20+1]=8+1=9 :(

Isvand shakily grabs his bow and trebles as he looses his first arrow. He settles down and does better on his second shot, though it still likely goes wide.
