There was talk about the sword from the trolls being identified. Has that happened or will it take a trip north to do it?

The sword has already been identified. However, see the IC for a new post.

Draea
Early Evening

The adventurers reach Draea shortly afterwords, and immediately rendezvous with Telemachus. The mage is unusually quiet. "The priest, Odos, has identified the blade. It possesses a moderate enchantment, making it more likely the wielder will pierce the defenses of an opponent and, when they do, inflict more damage. Here are the notes I have taken from the Baron's library, as well. There may be some things of use to you there."

He pauses. "My friends," he says, "the Baron has asked me to remain here in Draea as an advisor to him, and I have decided to accept his offer. Casfrea, you are welcome to join me, or if one of my companions would like to continue your employment you should entertain their proposal."
It is a +2 sword. If any wants Casfrea she is available for offers. Here's what Telemachus learned:

So, we have some new weapons to distribute:

Magical dagger +2
Magical axe +1
Magical crossbow

Masterwork sword +1 damage
Masterwork sword +1 damage

What do you guys think? Newton would certainly like the +1 axe to compliment his current magical axe (as he dual wields I think the pluses will stack) . It would also be nice to have one of the swords for Ribar.

Just to note, in my mind there are a few things you can do with magical items:

*Pass the unwanted stuff down to retainers.
*Keep them to use as incentive to hire more retainers.
*Sell them (this will take awhile, likely, and best to do in a large city, but you'll get both gold and XP (XP only if it hasn't been used) for it).
*At some point I think you'll have enough that you can start fitting your mercenaries out with magical weapons, as well.
*Keep to use for yourselves.

This was part of Ardath's comment. For example, he carries a sword but it looks more functional than magical. He won't say anything, though. Trust needs to be earned.

I think Feargus ended up with that +2 Sword. I'm sure we can find the post but I remember him getting it just before we stopped last year. That's the only reason I can think of that he would no longer be using his "trusty mace".

Yep, that was it. Better for you to get in there and help kill things.

Sounds like a good idea as well. Passing on the magic items to retainers for usage while they are in our employ is prudent. Maybe the lieutenants of the soldiers may need to start getting outfitted a little as well.

Does Gardo have a magical weapon? If not he is welcome to the axe and Newton could take the dagger for his offhand ;)

Actually, thinking about it, Newton using the +2 dagger in his offhand would make him more effective dual-wielding than taking the axe, as the +2 from the dagger and +1 from the axe would stack, making him +9 to hit and d8+5 dmg. (as opposed to +8/d8+4)

VonAlric wrote: Mon Jun 21, 2021 4:31 pm Noted a couple of things that need slight correction. In the big post that The_Wanderer was so awesome in collecting (viewtopic.php?p=486590#p486590), there is an error with the coordinates for Gardo's mine claim. Should be 217.111 (http://www.unseenservant.us/forum/viewt ... 80#p455751).

Also, in checking the maps from the early days to the more recent ones, I think that we might want to update the lost mine listed in the commercial area with an additional hex coordinates saying "(hex 211.138 and surrounding hexes)" unless that is getting too deep in the weeds.

EDIT: Didn't realize I had made a comment on one tab in this thread while I was still typing up the above comment as well. Sorry for the redundancy.
OK - I went ahead and made these updates on the new post. Let me know anything else we need to update!

Gardo has a +1 sword. His fighting style is sword and shield and that +2 shield is such a nice thing to have, he doesn't want to give it up.

Makes sense. Is there a retainer that can use an axe?

Also, Leitz, Rex, don't hesitate to weigh in on any of these questions. You're new to the party, so to speak, but don't feel like your character has to defer to the older PCs.

Absolutely!

If Gardo is looking to recruit a magic user as a retainer then a dagger +2 might help with such recruitment. We could get Madame Fleur look for a mu, it's unlikely we'll find one out here in the Wilds.

(honestly, I'll be happy with the +1 axe)

Would it make sense for Ardath to have the other mastercraft sword?

I'm really enthused about the options and discussions. On the other hand, I'm swamped IRL and trying to make time to make sense of it all. Keep up the great work, I'll learn to swim eventually!

No worries! I usually work on a majority rule (so it takes three votes to decide a course of action).
