thenewflesh wrote: Wed May 05, 2021 10:28 pm I like the structure of the game. The tone and pacing are unusual to me for reasons I don't quite know how to put my finger on. But that's a good thing. The hardest thing for me is just remembering to check US.

Hey - what sort of range of effects can I realistically hope for with a Local Weather spell? How about a Soothe spell? What range would I need to be in to cast it on a mob?
For spell effects, state what you're trying to achieve and roll. If what you're attempting seems reasonable, and you get a 5+, it happens. If it seems unreasonably powerful, something less happens on 5+. On 3 or 4, either you get full effect with a drawback, or you get less than you asked for. 1 or 2 you better hope not to roll.

That's not what you were asking for ... let's say that Local Weather has an effect of maybe a mile radius ... what can you get to happen in 3.14 sq mi atmosphere? Probably not a hurricane, but maybe a tornado. Snow, hail, rain, wind ... sunshine ... whatever.

Soothe? What seems reasonable to you? Let's start from there and I'll talk you down if it seems extreme. As far as range, I think you gotta be able to communicate with them somehow. There are many modes of communication.

Very reasonable.

As for Stevie's campaign rhetoric - no, not at all, but I think we/I established early on she's a big supporter of digital freedom, etc, which is why Louis is so supportive of her.

Let's say you all were at her rally because you knew her name from the billboards for her architectural firm, and she's good-looking, and she's not directly affiliated with Govcorp.

If she works for an Architectural Practice, GovCorp is a major factor in her living and future. Who else has the final call over the choice of Architect?

Yet she campaigns against GovCorp policies. Interesting, huh?

Should I throw in another pot-stirring event? Should I stay back and let you players work out a next move? What would play well here?

It's a little weird to me that this game seems to be faltering just as we get to the denouement, but I guess that's how it is.

Are people interested in playing this out, or should we shelve it?

I'd like to find out who is framing our glorious android friends for the murders.

Yep me too...but at the moment I'm not sure where we go at the moment. We have no witnesses; no concrete leads; daytime jobs (or not) and a riot immobilising us. I sort of expect this to be a relatively long investigation slowly gathering the things we are missing...unless we stumble across the perpetrator by accident.

We do know where they live, and we have a notion of where they will strike next.

Yeah, in my head, someone should just set up camp (or a security camera) on the outside of the building and keep watch.

Also - if nothing more is required of me today from the investigation end, I think I'll go and check out the technomage event.

Are we after the knife or the wielder?
Can we get a observation together? I can set up some stuff to watch but that costs real cash money (unless it's accounted for as broken teaching supplies) but people (well us) are cheaper.

Before this goes down a rabbit hole I'll interject that in game your characters don't know what XK7 8JR looks like. So what would you be watching with the cameras?

We also need to work out his apartment, as we only know his apartment block, I believe.

Trying to work out how we can identify this person.

It seems that they only post from home. We could analyse posting times to see if they are limited to certain times of the day. It is possible to make a guess at age or gender based on posting style?

We know he's in the block...How many other residents?
Can we find the equivalent of an IP address?
We can watch that and see who is not in the building when it's in use.
We could see if we could find the connection account through which the IP address equivalent connects and get the address from the comms agency
We could burn the block to the ground and see who comes out clutching computers. (OK That's not really a good idea, but we could fake that scenario using smoke and a fire alarm)
We could trip the building's electricity supplies and see when his comms go dead (assuming no UPS)
any sensible suggestions?
