With starting the game off tomorrow still the intention, I gave everyone's sheets a once over and found a couple of things that need adding:

Enoch
  • A roll of 5 on the Merchant background is Know, not Notice
  • Choose a Homeworld for Vyrner.
  • Choose 1-2 short term goals and a long term ambition. These will be worth varying amounts of experience points when achieved, with harder goals earning greater rewards.
ybn1197
  • Choose a Homeworld for Benedict.
  • Choose 1-2 short term goals and a long term ambition. These will be worth varying amounts of experience points when achieved, with harder goals earning greater rewards.
eirei
  • Choose 1-2 short term goals and a long term ambition. These will be worth varying amounts of experience points when achieved, with harder goals earning greater rewards.
explosiveghast
  • Select an equipment package, or roll credits and purchase gear.
  • Roll your HP.
  • Choose a Homeworld for Agnahr (I believe you already said Sarokoulo, I just wanted to confirm).
  • Choose 1-2 short term goals and a long term ambition. These will be worth varying amounts of experience points when achieved, with harder goals earning greater rewards.

Marullus
  • I know you may be changing your build, but if not the only thing missing is a short term goal for Damian.

Even better! I'll update the character sheet.

For short-term goals, I think I'd like:
  • Recover my starship (if you think this is short-term enough; if we don't start with a ship a small merchant vessel might be just what we need)
  • Find a cargo/seller
For a long-term goal, I'd like to found a merchant company.

Are those the sorts of things you had in mind?
Morvith, Human Wizard, The Western Lands
Ekene Orjee, Xenologist and Imperial Agent, Shadow of the Storm (Traveller MgT2e)

Those are all perfect. You won't have a ship to begin with, as I had assumed you would want to track your own one down.

(I'll keep my build as-is and we can get started.)

Short term goals:
  • I must recover the artifacts I left on the ship - the Ithilien Cortex cannot fall into any hands but my own.
  • That art dealer didn't know what he had - his painting contained the map to the Artificers Vertices and I will get it one way or another.

eirei - I noticed you are rolling the bonus damage from Gunslinger Level 2 and your sheet also has Starfarer Level 1. I can't figure out how you got to choose three Foci?

He's an Adventurer Expert/Warrior; he gets one free Foci for being level 1, one non-combat Foci from Expert, and one Combat Foci from Warrior. He effectively trades the guaranteed hit ability from full Warrior for a bonus Foci.

Yeah they're really strong especially at the start, but sometimes you really miss the expert re-roll/ guaranteed hit/miss from the other classes.
Odo is actually an Adventurer too, but he went expert/psychic.

Yeah, like Funk said, I get 1 from both of my Adventurer subclasses.

Romer is a disaffected youth from Kakimedes (a younger member of one of the major families there, with lots of cash at one point, long since burned through, and few worries) who has no intention of going back to live in that hellhole, especially with the war that is breaking out there. That said, he considers the troubles back home to be atrocious and wants to help the psychics who are being downtrodden by the horrible anti-MES types (his family, may they rot, being prime examples of this). Screw them, vive la resistance!

Short term goals: Help smuggle refugees

Long term goals: Establish a pipeline from Jodhild to Eusarre Erria

Wei Xuan is a lawyer from Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia, LP, who provides affordable legal services on a long-term non-binding contractual basis. He was born on Daiphon but has lived on Mejo for some time, or so his speech, dress, and manner suggest.

He specializes in arbitration.

Short term goals:
  • Find a client (or clients) and help them resolve a dispute
  • Uncover and evaluate an instance of corruption
Long term goals:
  • Raise enough money to buy sister, her husband, and three children passage off of Daiphon
  • Total cosmic harmony between sentient individuals

Hi everyone,
Had a quick look through existing characters, interesting crew! You seem to be missing a dedicated skull cracker, so I think Im going to play a warrior.
Most likely be former soldier turned mercenary after some shenanigans on Kakimedes - that seems to be a recurring theme.

It looks like the site update has taken out the ability to roll dice in the character generator, so I'm going to roll them in this thread and write the results into the sheet manually if that's ok?

Roll strength [3d6]
Roll int [3d6]
roll wis [3d6]
roll dex [3d6]
roll con [3d6]
roll cha [3d6]

Clearly, that doesn't work the way I thought it did :?
Strength [3d6]=14
Intelligence [3d6]=12
Wisdom [3d6]=14
Dexterity [3d6]=10
Constitution [3d6]=13
Charisma [3d6]=14

Pick one to change to 14? Id pick Dex. I'm happy to keep it at ten if you'd rather I did, they look like quite good stats to me?

Background - Soldier
Free Skill - (Any Combat) Stab
Rolled skills X3 - Roll Soldier, Learning: [1d8]=1 Administer
- Roll Soldier, Learning: [1d8]=8 Survive
- Roll Soldier, Learning: [1d8]=4 Fix
Pick Class - Warrior: 1 Free combat Focus, Warriors Luck, +2 Hp/level
Pick Foci - Free Choice: Tinker (+ Fix)
- Warrior Combat Focus: Gunslinger (+ Shoot)
Hobby Skill - Exert
Roll total hit points: [1d6]=3 +2 (warrior) = 5
Base Attack Bonus - +1 (Warrior)
Choose Equipment Package - Soldier: Combat Rifle (1d12 damage +3), 80 rounds ammo, Woven Body Armor (AC 15 +1), Backpack (TL0), Knife (1d4 damage +1), Compad, 100 credits
I think I just need to total skills, decide name determine goals and write background. Hopefully tomorrow. Look ok?

Edited - Changed free combat skill to stab

Usual order is STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA, but that shouldn't matter.

You are free to change any attribute to 14 seeing as you rolled instead of choosing the array.
You seem to have rolled an excellent all-rounder.

Evening Gents, just had a few questions to help me with my backstory;
Is their a list of planets in the United Systems and / or any cultural description for each? Or are we free to get creative with that part of the lore?

From what Ive read on the forum, there is no foreign military presence on Kakimides, but there could be govt or civilian humanitarian missions. Is that an accurate reading of the situation?

How extreme are Humanity First? Specifically would it be reasonable for my back story to mention a Humanity First assault on a civilian camp that was sheltering MES sufferers?

Cheers

This Sectors Without Number page has overviews of each world, with population estimates, a brief description of the society etc. If you want me to go more in depth regarding governments and cultures for a place, let me know; it's something I've been meaning to do for a long while.

There is a growing number of Sarokoulon Clans sending troops to sell their services (and take part in some genuine combat), a few agents from Aers representing the Reformists, and several rogue elements like the current crew. There has been no fullscale movement of military to the planet by any other polity in the sector though, no.

This varies wildly. Some are ruthless, outspoken detesters of psions who are revelling in their newfound authority to harm and even kill anyone with MES, others are grudgingly with the movement thinking it's for the greater good, or that they're helping those with a dangerous illness. Kakimedes has a long history with psychic terror, so even some genuinely good people have been caught up in the movement.

Could you tell me some more about the Sarokoulon Clans and the Reformists please? I'm fairly certain I'm going to use them

Spykee wrote: Sat Feb 06, 2021 11:59 pmCould you tell me some more about the Sarokoulon Clans and the Reformists please? I'm fairly certain I'm going to use them
Sarokoulon Clans:
These guys are kind of like Mandalorians (of KOTOR, I still haven't seen the new TV series) crossed with the northern tribes from the First Law series. Strength and honour is what the value the most (more that they honour the terms of their mercenary contracts than they 'spare the weak' as a race, I wanted all races to run the gamut of human personalities instead of tying everyone from a planet down to a fixed set of ethics), due to having endured post-Scream life on an incredibly inhospitable world which led to generations of constant tribal fighting.

They have no official planetary head, but the most powerful regional leaders meet regularly at what they call the Assembly of Clans, which functions as the de facto ruling government. The exact membership of the Assembly changes constantly with people gaining and losing territory, or as new clans branch off from larger ones or are absorbed into others, but generally life on Sarokoulo is far more stable and less brutal than it used to be (they have spaceyards and are a T4 planet, even though a lot of the older folk may prefer a good honest hearth and an iron hammer to a thermoglow heater and a hydrospanner).

Reformist Faith:
The Reformists are founded on the tenets that those who survived the Scream are in some way chosen. Some believe that the Scream was God(s) cleansing those unworthy from the galaxy, and that those who remain have a divine blessing to continue humanity's expansion, others believe that the Scream was God(s)' final attempt to wipe all of humanity out, but still some survived, proving that they have surpassed the heavens, and others believe many others deviations of these types. The basic tenet of the Reclamists is that "Humanity is still here, and we always shall be, so be good to each other" and is less of a devotion to any higher power than it is an affirmation of how awesome people are. It's incredibly widely spread because "Humanity, fuck yeah" combined with being the best you can be is something a lot of people can get behind, no matter where you're from.

The Faith is ostensibly decentralised, though in recent generations many of the more devout and pious (old habits die hard) gathered on Aes, where the psychic founder of the Faith lived after the Scream and who united the planet together to survive the post-Scream ages. Much like how Mejo is the unofficial capital of the Unified Systems, Aers is the unofficial seat of the Reclamist Faith, and the current head of the huge Reclamist Temple on Aers is effectively the head of faith. The current "Luminary" is a man named Jaya Sato.

The planet Pavis, in the same system as Aers, is home to a huge conclave called the Reclamist Academy that trains psions (kind of like a cross between a Jedi Temple and a huge university). Because the Reclamists believe that MES is the next step in humanity's evolution and is basically humans becoming even more awesome, they champion it and strive to help those with MES develop their powers safely.

tl;dr The Faith doesn't worship any specific divine power (though many believe in a God that has chosen them) and more of a belief that humans are fucking great, let's keep going and become more awesome together.

I started rambling a bit there, hopefully I got across some of what I intended.

Thanks, thats helpful :)
Ive got name and description:

Greyson Carlisle
Description
Slightly over topping six feet tall, with a Sarakoulons usual athletic build and a career soldiers slightly battered face, Greyson has dark hair cut back to fuzz except on the top of his head, a short beard and moustache beginning to show flecks of grey and pale, icy blue eyes. He appears to be in his mid to late thirties and is heavily tattooed around the arms and upper body, the tattoos both decoration and covers for scaring and skin grafts resulting from a vacsuit failure earlier in his career.
Greyson dresses in military surplus gear or practical outdoor clothes, often decorated with clan Carlisle badges and the knot work patterns and cultural makings of his family’s region of Sarakoulo and only dons more formal wear with great reluctance. His right ear is pierced with several small rings of various precious metals, each one representing a completed campaign.
He is rarely far from his old, but religiously maintained and personally customised ‘Fenrir’ combat rifle.
Although his size and build tend to make his presence intimidating, Greyson personality is reserved and stoic rather than aggressive and he is surprisingly genial in conversation about his favourite subjects; technology / engineering and (paradoxically) the wilderness.

I've worked out backstory and goals but ill post them tomorrow, I'm out of time just now. I've kind of taken the Sarakoulons, or t least the Carlisles as realistic vikings in space, and invented a clan at the same time, hope that's ok?
