'Astro-Medicine' Chamber, Castle U.S.S. Enterprise
The Barren Wasteland, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Four. Night. March 28th, 912 CY

Image

The ferocious barbarian's blood-soaked ax sings a song of death, decapitating the black horror at the threshold in a spray of burning blood! (A1 is dead. Ko-Nan, please make an Ability Check vs Dex on 1d20 to evade 5hp damage!)

Seeing an opening, Monique lets fly her javelin with deadly aim, impaling the chest of the last heinous creature! (A2) It shrieks with hateful rage!

Behind the narrow battle-line, Chaka, Fiefo and Tullia try to navigate the crush and join the fray, to no avail!

Hans calls upon his god to smooth the unsightly gashes in Monique's glimmering skin. (+7hp) Likewise, Adrock and Jack shower Ko-Nan with sacred blessings of health. (+2hp, +1hp respectively)

From a distance, Maskelyn studies the eastern door, trying to discover a way to close it. The gnome conjurer realizes the magic doors of the Castle Enterprise part before any approach. Perhaps the corpse in the doorway similarly holds it open?

Outside in the dark corridor, the last frightful thing (A2) pulls Monique's spear from its chest and drops it to the floor with a clatter. Then it disappears into the shadows with a venomous hiss!

As sudden as it erupted, was the savage attack over?!

Jack

I see now why McCoy and The Kirk were so terrified! There is at least one of those creatures out there, but we have to assume there are more, not to mention those little things that burst from McCoy. Who knows how many of those may be around. We need to be very careful and stay together. I would hate to have one of those aliens find me if I was on my own exploring a room.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Hans the Shrewd

"Prevalent peril... rampant risk..." the wrinkled cleric/thief whispers. "If pursuit be our aim, Iithius - may blossoms grow at her feet - will guide us to the source of evil." He fidgets with his holy jar of face cream.

Ko-Nan stands over his defeated foe and stares into the darkness at the fleeing thing. "Do we have light?!? It will be back - and probably with help!"

Maskelyn
Maskelyn moves to the doorway, struggling to push the dead thing outside without touching its blood. Hey, Mac. A little help, huh? he says to no one in particular.
Once the beast is outside the door, he'll search the interior of the doorframe for some way to lock the door.

Tullia

She lowers her sword, but keeps it out.

That Thing is still out there. And how many more hatched from the staff? She indicates the squished "baby" alien on the floor.

Monique Quan

Monique thanks those who helped heal her and will quickly move to help Maskelyn to drag the carcass out of the way, doing her best to not touch the burning blood while doing so.

LL quickly scambles to search McCoy for the jewels to power the wand, then searches around the rest of the room looking for more.

Image

Suddenly, the savage attack on the chamber of the "astro-medicine" is ended.

Victorious, Ko-Nan the barbarian stares into the dark corridor and growls, "Do we have light?!? It will be back - and probably with help!" Tullia gravely concurs. Jack quietly counsels that the questers of The Kirk stay together for their own safety!

Monique advises, "I think we need to move somewhere else, QUICKLY on this ship in case those.....monsters...return." Then she helps Maskelyn carefully push the monstrous black cadaver through the eastern door. The gnarled gnome cannot find a means to lock the portal but while searching in vain, the door magically swooshes shut of its own volition!

Nearby, Adrock the historian-priest searches the strange chamber and discovers five crystal jewels with which to power the magic wand of the celestial healer, McCoy!

Hans the Shrewd

"A-a-assume we can that from the east they made their approach. By nature, a moleman is circumspect in the face of self-evident danger."

His beady, yet oddly soulful black eyes search the group for approval.

"Suggest I do th-that our legs carry us to the north or 'round to the west. There is nothing here beneficial to our skins." Briefly assessing Jack's hirsute self, he pauses prior to adding, "Or pelts."

The dread memory of the ghastly creatures looming over them, the questers realize they must flee before more of the black horrors descend upon them.

Ko-Nan frets in the small cell of a room - eager to be moving. A place more open for fighting. "Back the way we came or forward?!?"

OOC: I don't think there are other exits in this room from the map? Sorry to hold up the post - thought i had already :?

Hans the Shrewd

"The b-barbarian must've seen the direction in which the injured one f-fled," Hans stutters. "The opposite way we should go. Qu-quickly now. These halls may be full of lurking devils."

The oscillating high-and-low pitched gurgling sounds emanating from inside his ivory armour is the moleman releasing pungent fear pheromones.

Jack

Since we really don't know where the creatures may be lurking, I agree that we should search deeper into the castle. If invaders were attacking a castle I was in, I'm sure we would fall back as the invaders breech the outer walls. I believe this is where The Kirk would have taken shelter.
