Andronichishche slowly rubs his chin, deep in thought. "The wizard obviously intended this tunnel to be found." He points to the sign mounted next to the double doors.
He continues speaking, as much to himself as to his companions, "Seekers of knowledge. An odd phrase to use. What knowledge?"Congratulations seekers of knowledge! For you alone have solved the puzzle of the Medusa’s treasure and are now the rightful owners of her many magical wonders. Insert the proper key to claim your rewards.
Andron glances down at his left hand and removes the magical golden ring he is wearing. "The kobolds had taken five of the objects on the pedestals. Two were missing. A small cube ... and a ring." He holds the ring up to examine it again. "If what Mr. Gramble used was indeed the Chime of Serpent's Desire, this must be the Band of Fools."
He changes tone to that of one analyzing a crime scene. "I found the ring in the junk room, along with a large brass key that appears to fit the keyhole. Now, we know from his writing, Marquees was enraged and grief stricken by the death of Melania. I had thought his erratic behavior and that horrible smile and laughter was due to insanity. However, such behavior could also be ascribed to a Fool. That may be the effect of wearing this ring. If so, I had fortunately resisted it."
He carefully places the ring into a belt pouch and retrieves a huge brass key from his pack. "The doors were open to the kobolds. I suspect this is not the proper key and was used by Melania or Marquees to open that false vault. The wizard did warn her not to try using them against him." He shrugs. "Only one way to find out."
Andron pivots to face the doors, but then raises an index finger as he remembers something else. He turns back around and procures a large copper cube from his pack. The same that was found in the junk room. Upon closer examination they learned it wasn't a solid cube, but more like a large copper sheet folded on itself many times. He hands it to Gramble. "Mr. Gramble, would you be so kind as to attempt to unfold this?"
He then pulls an old and heavily used book from his pack and hands it to Lerrick. "Miss Lerrick, I did not have the opportunity to ask you earlier about this book. It appears to be a very old hymnal to Pelor. What can you tell me about it? I found it in the junk room. An odd book for a medusa to have, I think."
Finally, he turns about again and walks back to the double doors. He carefully closes them and inserts the brass key into the keyhole. He will try turning it, if able, then proceed to open the doors and peer inside.
