OOC and MIA

Re: OOC and MIA
Tourmaline's up front offer of gear comes to:
Five TL 9 4cm RAM grenade launchers 600 x5 = 3000 Cr
Fifteen HEAP (Pen 28) RAM grenades (included above - three shot mags)
One case of Twelve TL 9 HEAP (Pen 21) hand grenades 1500 Cr
One man portable laser cutter (Contact Pen 20) 12.5 KCr (Weight: 9kg)
I believe this was a loaner?
Three TL 12 TDX breaching charges @1kg TDX (Pen 46) 1500Cr
Quote: "I will also supply three breaching charges with contact and remote detonators sufficient to breach iris valves..."
She understands what a trial losing your keys can be!

The charges will be with your magazine aboard the Liner but could come down with the "HQ Train" if required.
Re: OOC and MIA
Of course you don't necessarily have to settle for what you are given...

Aaand a couple of IC posts tonight should help matters a bit!

Re: OOC and MIA
sorry for the MIA, had a two day migraine on my days off. I'll be out of touch a little longer, I'm finally getting out of here tomorrow and it's a 19 hour trip. see you when I get back!
Re: OOC and MIA
Migraine, ouch!. Safe trip!
Re: OOC and MIA
Safe trip, Shrike!
Tiglath, I removed most of my post in the "Inchin" thread. The post where I misunderstood the thread's role. I can't figure out how to delete the post though, can you?

It's maybe a Mod super power!
Cross icon top right in the text field (appears next to the edit icon) - if you have it.
I've deleted the stub for tidiness.

Re: OOC and MIA
Is there a particular language I can use with "Google Translate"? Some of these posts are leaving me a bit confused.

Re: OOC and MIA
The criminal natives of Collace speak with strong London accents and use cockney rhyming slang and urban slang references.
Think of it as a sort of a D&D "Thieves Cant"!
They also drop aitches like they're hot! I'll post a translation!
I believe Fast Eddie may be the worst offender:
“Ever heard the phrase “settin’ yer stall out” phrase: to show your intentions , Miss Prerna? Behave one way once and yer you are labelled – all mouth and no trousers slang: to be boastful and without substance. Carry on in that style in yer business dealings an’ no one’s surprised – predictable see?”
He continues “Punters disparaging term for customers - "marks" might be better will always bet on a dead cert racing slang: certainty / sure thing because people like the reassurance of reinforcing’ their own beliefs - now don’t they? I mean, if I let on I was actually a bit nicer than you think and brickin’ it slang: terrified / very fearful running the game a possible reference to a "con" or criminal deception? I am ‘ere, might you look after me a bit more? Maybe think of me as a better actor than an entrepreneur?”
He smiles quickly “Well, we’ve ‘ad enough back an’ forth for me to have said something bang out of order slang: wholly inappropriate to you. I ordered the lemonade so you'd have somethin' to chuck it over me but that’s really a move for posh totty slang: an upper class and educated attractive woman and not soldiers and I’d rather not spend the rest of the week with a sore boat race cockney ryhming slang: boat race = face – if that’s alright wiv with you?”
Hopefully the above helps a bit.

Only an idiot would send someone who really was "Fast Eddie" on a mission like this, so Prerna decided to run a little recon mission of her own...

Re: OOC and MIA
Thanks! I got some of it, but enough was not understood that I didn't want to act on a mix-up.
Re: OOC and MIA
No problem at all!
Being a little concerned it would "translate" myself I have to admit to being rather reckless in posting it without better translation. The mixing of alternate slang could only have compounded the issue!
However, IC the use of a broad London (Collace) accent might speak volumes as to the owner's pedigree...

Re: OOC and MIA
If yer not careful we could end up in a right two and eight or accused of taking the michael.
I might not know much about firearms, but at least I can understand the locals without a dictionary
It's like a Guy Richie movie.

Re: OOC and MIA
Well, I'll take that to the bank!

The indicator for things all going Pete Tong will be if Frank has to use "Could everyone stop gettin' shot?"

Re: OOC and MIA
Now there's a translation guide I might be less restrained in Jess's use of vernacular
Jess may sound similar to the locals, but her accent is different. Not Cockney/London. More regional. Home counties/Midlands working-class.
Jess's regimental Quick March would be something like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AxBZOnSPpc

Re: OOC and MIA
"So, I was covered neck to ankle and wrist in a shapeless work suit, with me tool in me 'and, and everyone else was in just their knickers, chasing each other 'round a pool in the Garden of Eden and drinkin'."Jess sees Prerna is sat nearby and now realises no one else is wearing a boiler suit. It’s all a bit like some strange dream she should tell a shrink about.
Sectioned on the spot, no need for the second Doctor.

Re: OOC and MIA
That's why Jess is setting up the stile and vapourator, generate some spare capacity.(OOC: NB Water rations. It might well be that water is a currency on Inchin. However, as to value assume you’re giving away something in the order of gold sovereigns in a bottle of water. Also as to availability any excessive “donations” on any scale by the unit will force you to go into “desert survival mode” even in barracks where water is available but distribution is still “controlled”.
You are all by now aware of the vast number of ducts and vents throughout the palace focussed on water reclamation and atmosphere management. Even though pools and fountains are a grand excess there is much effort going on to retain and reuse water at every opportunity).
Jess is used to desert living, she can easily reduce her own ration slightly.

My laptop died on me, and I'm using an ancient backup - one that went crazy two machines ago. It runs very slowly and freezes/crashes occasionally, so I may be slower to post than normal.
