This wasn't directed at me, but I had some thoughts anyway. :D

Every module says something like, "for a party of 6-9 adventurers of 3rd to 5th level." Sometimes it even says something like, "you need at least one cleric." So the entire thing is built at that power level. Most everything in a module (barring bad decisions or bad luck) is survivable for a complete party of that size, or should be. And yes, survivable means running away sometimes.

But once you split the party, almost nothing is survivable. Every encounter has been built at a wildly different power level.

The truism of "never split the party" is probably true for that reason alone.

Sorry if this is super obvious. :)

Based on my reading of the description, we definitely DO NOT want to tangle with those Three. I'm not sure about the other two, but the woman is likely an incarnation or avatar of Shub-Niggurath, The Black Goat of a Thousand Young. Those three, I wouldn't want to tackle with less than a platoon of Heinlein's power-armored Infantry.

Picking up Amity once more, unseen Urdur hurries to the exit with all deliberate speed.
Hi Socratic,
A character may only move 1" when casting a spell. So your above post would operate like this:

This round: Run to the end of the bridge and stop.
Next round: Cast spell and move 1".
Third round: Run.

That said, Mouser and Rudolf may reach the end of the bridge this round and they have a light source.

Just an fyi.

Hey everyone.

Please note: Anyone who is in a melee may still choose full movement as an option. But it means that any enemy you are fighting, or passing, gets a free opportunity attack as you go by.

Also, Scott308: successful turning of undead means another attempt is permitted. Also, PCs may only move 1" in a round when turning undead.

Bo and Jerome are greatly weakened. With their current Strength and Encumbrance, they may move 4" per round maximum.

PC replies are due in 3 days please. Have a great weekend.

I think we are all doomed. I don’t see how any of us make it out alive - maybe Urdur and Amity. If that’s the case then it’s a good TPK in my books :)
But I’ll be honest my first thought after seeing that map was that I hope Telkis and Brevos still have the curse - it’s your only chance unless we can get an undead turning megaphone for Ingrid. Actually my first thought was to wonder if Inferno was chuckling when he was placing all those undead or saying “holy crap”. I swear Telkis and Brevos were second! ;)
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

You guys say that every fight!
Which is good, I guess. Fits the tone of Gothic Lovecraft perfectly. :)

It was the latter, but mostly because it was so much damn work!
wolfpack wrote:Brevos chops away as he tries to bull through using his shield
Bulling his way through, and attacking, sounds like a charge: movement with an attack at the end. You only get one of those every 10 rounds, fyi.

I'll say that Telkis and Brevos advance alongside the wall, close to it so they are only exposed on one side. They are currently in the worst situation; surrounded. At least the others have a battle line and one front (for now).

Good luck, everybody.

It would be funny someday to compile all the posts from Inferno's campaigns where we were certain we were donezo.

Still, this time.... I don't know.... (counts skeletons.... loses count... starts again...)

The math doesn't look good.

What was said earlier about a "good TPK"- Agreed. Better if the characters survive, but our mission was to rescue the girl.

If Urdur casts Dancing Lights this round, he can only move 1", right? Are the undead close enough to be in range of attacks at the end of that round if he does?

If so, are the others close enough this round that Urdur and Amity have enough light to see without casting?

If not, can he light a torch and get moving more than 1" this round?

If Mouser and Rudolf have to hold the pass, sigh, then you might need other light options. Otherwise Rudolf can run ahead with you ;)

Correct.
SocraticLawyer wrote:Are the undead close enough to be in range of attacks at the end of that round if he does?
Sorry, I'm not following you. Who is in range of whose attacks, please?
SocraticLawyer wrote:...are the others close enough this round that Urdur and Amity have enough light to see without casting?
Rudolf has a magic shortsword which illuminates a 15' radius circle. At then end of my last DM post, Urdur and Amity are just beyond that circle. But the sword illuminates Rudolf, Mouser and a half dozen undead, so Urdur can see them.

One square = 5 feet on this map:

SocraticLawyer wrote:...can he light a torch and get moving more than 1" this round?
No. Pulling out a torch from a backpack and getting it alight takes an action. He may move 1" after doing so.
