Despite his companions lack of reaction to the noise behind them, Elnaerel will keep her ears more concentrated in that than at whatever is talked. She assumes for the time being that the movement is cause by any of their two companions, so she will try not to look into that direction, feigning distraction.

Can her pointy ears discern if the sound is cause by a two legged creature walking, various of them, or if it/they is/are heavy or light?

Rumors And Things
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy

When Darklin blurts out his warning about the sea monster on the beach, the faces of the other party show honest looks of concern. They ask to be shown exactly where the creature might be hiding on their rough map of this area.

Feanol and Elnaerel try not to bring attention to the noise they hear in the jungle behind them, wondering if it is their 2 missing members trying to sneak through the bush to catch up to them. Listening intently, they both become more convinced it is them the louder the noise gets.

Keg tries to diffuse the loud sneaking noises with a question of his own. The group seems amicable enough, willing to trade off information with fellow adventurers. The half-orc continues. "We crossed over the shallows where the river meets the sea, because we heard about dangerous natives on this side of the river. It was rough going, I'll tell you that. The jungle is unforgiving and almost impossible to traverse over there. We didn't see anything dangerous at first, but there is a dark cave in the black cliffs that we haven't investigated yet. We stayed close to the river, where it was a bit easier to move through, and after a few hours of exploring, we came across a small camp of huge yellow skinned ogres. Have you seen these things yet? They look a lot like the ones on the mainland, except......they're yellow."

TK continues to slog through the nearly impassable jungle with Cealwyn trying to remain silent behind him.

The half-orc pauses to listen before speaking again. "Are your 2 friends trying to sneak up on us, or what? You know we could all see you from a distance, right? Just like you could see us? We all watched both of them slip in there." The rest of her group all nod their heads simultaneously.

Keyon

The elf chuckles at the half-orc's comment. "True enough." He grins from his position in the bush. "But I figured that if you lot turned out to be a bad sort, this would give me a fair chance to escape while you occupy yourselves murdering my companions."

He slips free of the entangling jungle, picking leaves from his hair and sending his mates a rogue's grin. "I mean...I like you all, but not that much."

Elnaerel looks at the half-elf with suspicion, not taking a joke of this sort lightly. "Hmmm... That's good to know." She turns to the group now. "Dangerous natives and yellow ogres? Then that's something we have to take into account now. That cave you speak of is also worth investigating. We plan going to the other side of the river, to see what's there."

Keg

has his interest piqued about the news of ogres and a spooky cave. That's some good info. Thanks for sharing. How many ogres were in this camp? I assumed you didn't walk up and have tea, but an estimate would be great.

When his companions in the trees are brought up he turns and seems to notice for the first time and scowls at them. Come on, fancy folk! Too good to speak and make yourselves known? Do I need to have a Harold announce you and play a fan fair? he shakes his head and looks apologetically at the half-orc. Help these days, am I right?

The Knife

"WHAT DID YOU SAY? IS IT SAFE TO COME OUT NOW?

There's a distant commotion in the bushes. Then another shout. "BE RIGHT OUT!" A bit more crashing in the bushes, followed by "WHICH WAY ARE YOU? I'VE GOT A BIT TURNED AROUND!"
In my defence, I only said TK was moving closer to the trees, not actually going in  Casts "Shift Blame", points at OM :D

Feanol

The young Elf Maid hears and then watches Keyon emerge from the trees, and rolls her eyes. Then turns back to hear more about these strange Ogres and the mysterious cave.

Keyon

He shakes with silent laughter at TK's shouted response and slides a hand over his mouth, half-turning to obscure a wide grin. After a moment, Keyon clears his throat and attempts to put on a straight face as he replies in a somewhat quieter tone. "Yes, my friend. We fancy folk are declared safe."

He wanders back to the edge of the trees in an attempt to catch sight of his comrade. "This way, mate," he says. "Why must you be so blasted short?" he mutters more quietly, squinting his eyes to peer through the brush.

Darklin

Ogres? And a cave. Keg, I think Paul said something about a cave being the ptevious hideout for the pirates we chased. Was there a waterfall too. I think he said something about a waterfall near the cave.

Feanol be ready. If there are ogres we will have to make sure you stay at a distance. Ogres are bad news in hand combat.

Rumors And Things

The half-orc speaker shakes her head and tries to hide a smile at the antics of the not so sneaky thieves, agreeing with Keg about his "help" comment with a nod. She continues giving out information freely, with a question of her own for good measure.

"We saw 4 of the beasts, biguns too. They were camped along the east side of the river, about 2 miles north of the sea. We didn't get real close once we spotted them, for obvious reasons." She looks back at her less than heroic party members. "So I'm afraid I cant tell you much more than that about them. We didnt see anything dangerous outside the cave, but there was no waterfall. Must be a different cave your friend was talking about. We would have gotten closer, but the whole place had a really creepy vibe to it, if you know what I mean. We decided to head back and try looking around on the other side of town instead. Maybe we can find something a little less......deadly."

"So, have you guys heard about these obelisks everyone in town has been talking about?"
She looks directly towards the female elves. "What about it girls? You see anything along your travels that we should know about?"

There is a skinny human dressed in robes in their party that gets a really pissed off look on his face when his leader mentions the obelisks.

The Knife

The Knife emerges from the bushes covered in a mixture of dirt and leaves. "...care what you say, 'Watch Out!' is only a warning if you say it before I fall over the tree root". He looks up at the group of strangers. "Oh, hello! So you aren't bad after all, then? That's nice."

The gnome turns back towards his group. "Did somebody mention Ogres? Stupid beasts. There's an old gnomish trick. Wait for them to fall asleep. You can hear them snoring for miles. Then sneak in and kill them." He taps the side of his nose.

Feanol

Hearing her comrades remarks she says quietly back to him "Thanks Darklin, I will do my best to stay out of that."

Then she listens as the conversation goes on. When the talk is so pointedly turned toward them, she looks at the Half-Orc "No mention of it since we arrived a day ago."

Elnaerel

"Sorry for our companions, what we didn't know what we may encounter, you know?" She points at Keyon and TK. "Thank you for your warning." The elf nods at the half-orc, she then turns to Keg. "I think we must heed their words. Maybe going to the other side of the river might prove way too dangerous for us. We're lucky that we came across them. We should think of something else or a better way to approach this."

At the half-orc's questions, she says: "What about these obelisks? I didn't hear anything of them, like shes said," She points at Feanol. "I also came a day ago. Well, actually, two days ago, and haven't gone out of town until... well, today.

The only thing I can advice you on, is the dwarves, the Stoneguts. Be careful with them. They were in Beachtown as whe arrived while they were picking stones and bothering the people there. Be careful with them, as they are many and... ill-tempered."

"What's your name, by the way? I'm Elnaerel, priestess of Elenestra, the Lady of the Woods." She extends her hand and will let the others introduce themselves if the so wish.

Darklin

Well met fellow adventurers. I am Darklin, a Warrior Wizard sent here to investigate these monoliths, by the Greyhawk Mage Guild. The Monoliths hold great power. I have much more information about them but that is for another time. Any of you who are interested can meet me at my tent near the HiLo on my return. We thank you for your information and wish you luck on your safe return to Beachtown.

Keyon

Since introductions are being made, the erstwhile pirate offers a crooked grin and a half-bow. "Keyon. The charming and irrepressible foil to these serious faces you see before you." He deftly plucks a twig from his hair and drops it behind him.

Keyon notes the agitated human's expression without comment. His mind begins chewing on the possible importance of these obelisks.

The large female nods her head at all the replies and introductions.

"Oh, I am sorry. I should have said something sooner. I am Gretchen, leader of this band of miscreants. It is our pleasure to meet you all." She waves her hand behind her at her party, who all nod as well, but remain silent. "Well, you are greener than we are if you just arrived yesterday. And I though we were fresh off the boat."

She looks back at the skinny human when the questions are broached about the obelisks, but once Darklin speaks, she stops.

"Oh? You know more about them but are unwilling to share that with us right now? I see. That is typical of most wizards I suppose. So secretive. Well, it was nice to meet you all. Take care and good luck out there!" She crosses her large arms across her leather armor but continues to stand there for the moment.

The Knife

"Nice to meet you Gretchen", says The Knife. "And friends. We're The Knife. Masters of stealth and cunning."He brushes a few more leaves from his hair. "Mostly".

"Now then, if we could just switch back to the ogres, which are a bit more dangerous than large rocks that aren't going anywhere, I'd like to make a suggestion".

"What if we all teamed up? Twelve of us would be a lot more effective than six. And it wouldn't mean dividing up any treasure too much, since at least a couple of us are bound to die at some point...you know I'm not sure I should have brought up that last point. Probably should have let them all figure it out for themselves. I'm mean you never think it's going to be you that gets it, it's always going to be somebody else."

"Anyway, what does everybody think?"

Feanol

Watches the antics of Keyon, and rolls eyes and sighs. Then at The Knife and just shakes her head. Noting carefully what Darklin said. Then when The Knife starts in on combining to fight the Ogres "Well Knife that's a good idea, but maybe we should see if there's anything worth coming back up here for before we take on that task."
