Sorry Elnaerel, but its been 2 days here.

Sea Monsters And Exploration
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy

Keyon slips back into the foliage at the first sign of the approaching party up the beach. The Knife assures everyone that they are likely just a small group of adventurers looking to slake their thirst in the tavern, before he too moves a little closer to the tree line.

Keg and Darklin dont seem concerned about the approaching group, the human presses the others to continue despite two members moving off to hide.

Elnaerel stays silent while Feanol takes a studied look at those approaching. She sees 4 humans, a fellow elf, and a smaller member, possibly gnome or halfling. They all wave in a friendly manner as they get closer, but she can see the apprehension on their faces just like on those of her friends.

Keg checks his location, seeing that they are currently about half way between Beachtown and the river, the approaching group still a good ways off, but getting closer by the minute.

The Knife

The Knife looks at the oncoming group. Then he looks at his own companions and does a head count. Five big, one small. "I know they seem to be a bit different, but they're also rather similar, aren't they? I mean, if you were going to pretend to be us, from a distance, you might look like that, right? You know, if you couldn't make out details." He looks around to see if anybody agrees with him.

Feanol

Chuckling at the gnome Feanol answers "I guess you would at that." To the others "Five returning and look a bit worried to see us so I think we can assume they are probably just trying to get back to Beachtown." With that she gets up and starts moving forward again as Keg and Darklin are urging.

Keg

The big man stands a moment and then gets impatient and begins boldly walking towards the other party. One could imagine he probably had only two settings: stand your ground and onward. He chooses onward.

HAIL! WHO GOES THERE? he calls out in what might pass for "hello, how do you do?" In his native culture.

Keyon

He remains motionless and watches the proceedings impassively. Keyon wraps his hands around the hilt of his hand-axe and readies it for a surprise attack, if such a thing becomes necessary. If the approaching party turns out to be friendly, he will discreetly stash the weapon and consider emerging to greet them. After he's had a moment to assure himself that they haven't mirrored his caution by placing scouts of their own in the trees. He glances around them, finding himself victim to an over-abundance of caution after his recent misadventures.

Elnaerel

The elven cleric gets a hold of her shield just in case, but does it in a casual manner, as if it wasn't meant for anything in particular. "They look friendly, but that doesn't mean they are. Like Keyon said, probably going back to town, but be weary." She'll start walking towards them with those of her group who are doing the same and stands next to Keg.

Sorry, for some reason I thought I had already answered the previous post

Now it appears that Darklin has gone AWOL. I will press the action along anyway.

When Keg and the others advance, they leave Keyon and TK behind in the bush.

As the other party approaches, they wave back while their largest member hails your group from shouting distance.

"Hello there! Are you another group of explorers heading out into the jungle?"

Darklin

Darklin waves to show he is un armed and keeps himself between his charge and Feanol.

They are not pirates so they must be adventurers returning.

I think the marching order is working fine :)

Keg

Keeps boldly walking up to them, displaying no fear. Yes, we are. his voice lowering a bit as they near and easier distance to communicate. Where have you come from? Any luck out there?

Keyon

The thief crouches motionless, axe in hand and eyes roving for threats. Ears open, senses alert. He figures nothing is lost by remaining cautious in this lethal place where the most mundane of creatures might decide to murder you at any moment.

He puts eyes on TK, if possible, to make sure he knows where his comrade lurks in case of trouble.

The Knife

The Knife tries to move carefully, quietly, a little deeper into the trees. If all is well, he can remain hidden. If hostilities break out, he plans to be behind the other group.

Feanol

After her initial wave of greeting is content to let Keg lead this meeting. She will continue to follow at the same distance she was from Keg. Hand still on a knife hilt.

Continuing to close the gap between the two parties, and leaving Keyon and TK a long way off now, their leader appears to be a well spoken female half-orc. She is dressed in sweated up leather armor and armed with sword and dagger. The others stay behind her and don’t intervene on the conversation.

“We have explored to the north, along the river, but we didn’t find much. Are you just heading out from town?”

Keyon is so far away, he almost can’t hear the conversation. TK bushwacks through the tangle of jungle in front of him, trying to outflank the other group. He will need several more minutes of conversation if he hopes to get around them.

Darklin, Feanol, and Elnaerel all start to hear a feint rustling noise coming from the jungle behind them.

Darklin

Darklin will move to keep between the noise and Feanol. Just in case.

Keep your eyes out. A large octopus or squid has taken up to hiding its tenticles in the sand trying to catch those that pass by.
One villager for sure has been eating so keep your eyes open. About an hours walk toward beachtown. Keep your eyes on the sand for it being churned up.

The Knife

The Knife continues to move stealthily through the foliage. He steps quietly. He breathes quietly. He even thinks quietly. He's a silent black hole moving through the jungle.

Keyon

Calling upon the elven grace of his ancestors, Keyon moves slowly and carefully forward to prevent being completely separated from his party. He remains thirty feet behind The Knife and makes every effort to remain concealed, gently and quietly untangling or slicing vines and brambles that would otherwise catch on his clothing to slip through the brush. For once, he is thankful for the insect noises that he hopes will assist in concealing his progress.

Feanol

Hearing Darklin's words she speaks softly to him "Thanks I will". And she is now watching both the sand and the approaching party.
