Hello all!

#1 Post by RossN »

Hi all! :)

My name is Ross, I'm 38 and from Ireland and I've some experience with PbP games over on RolePlay onLine and the Giant in the Playground forums (which is where I heard about here.)

I played D&D 3/3.5 back in college but I'm much more fond of 1st and 2nd edition AD&D (I have whole bookshelves full of sourcebooks I started buying long before I rolled a dice in anger and the thought of playing Al-Qadim or Arcane Age Netheril or one of the other incredibly evocative settings from this era) and 5e (I really like the feel of the game and its simplicity and it is maybe the system I have the best handle on.) I also have a soft spot for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, King Arthur Pendragon, Talislanta and the West End Games Star Wars, though my experience with some of those is more limited. I've also had a lot of fun with some the retroclones like Flying Swordsman and Mazes and Minotaurs.

I'm more of a player than someone who could really set up his own game sadly. I have briefly tried GMing but while I love the idea of it I'm not sure I quite have the attention span or patience for it.

Hi Ross!
Glad to have you here. Sheesh that's a game list that just fits perfect here. I'm sure you'll find a good game to play in.
As for DMing, this is the best place I've found to do so, if you decide in the future you want to give it a go again. The folks here are the most supportive and understanding folks around the web, and if you wanted to you could really learn to DM a game as you go. Of course if you just want to play, plenty of folks do just that and don't DM games. Whatever you decide is cool beans for us.
So again, welcome Ross, well met!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I enjoy WEG Star Wars, but Pendragon is my favorite system! Glad to see someone else that is a fan!
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.
