Lerrick
The cleric takes moves to the cave entrance and scans the area as well.
The paladin proceeds to take the 10' pole and make the notches as suggested by Andron. This is quite an elaborate plan to open a scroll tube. Looking forward to seeing if it works.Quonundrum wrote:Andronichishche"Sir Crestbrook? Do you still have your bamboo pole? I suggest making a series of cuts, length wise, a few inches at most, on one end of the pole. This should allow us to slide the scroll tube into the shaft ... the pole can expand if the tube is too wide. Then we tighten the cut bamboo slats against the tube with some rope. We can twist the pole from the other end, and there is a statue a few feet away back along the north tunnel we can secure the screw cap under."

"Thank you, Sir Crestbrook. Mr. Maag, would you be so kind as to secure the scroll tube in the pole with a length of rope? I suggest using the statue just to the north for securing the cap end. We can use the curve in the tunnel to minimize our exposure."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Back To Work
Freeday, 19th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Partly Cloudy, Warm, Humid
Saracen doesnt see any traps with his magically enhanced sight. Alordan doesnt notice any new tracks or scuffs along the ground. Outside looks the same as it did before, though the sun is slightly higher in the partly cloudy sky now. No new minotaurs are there to attack the group and no killer trees are spotted inside the stone circle. The only new revelation learned about the stone dais is that it definitely looks like it was built here with a purpose. There is clear stone work done around it, so it was not something that was added later or melded into the floor or anything like that. Perhaps once this "wizard" is finally found, he can reveal all of these answers to the group, but until then......
After a bit of alterations to the end of Cresty's bamboo pole, he, Maag, and ol' one boot are able to secure the tube inside of the bamboo slats. Tipping the closest statue back a bit, the screw top is placed under its weight well enough for the experiment to take place. The statue is gently set back down on the tube without it being crushed, allowing this test to commence.
Actions?
I need everyone to confirm their positions on the map in your next post. I also want to know who is twisting the pole. What I dont want, is for one player to dictate that another player should do it.

Tlachtga
Tlachtga's position is good. Cu should be next to her. She is standing watch.

Maag
Having learned from his experience with the falling ceiling in the Spider Maze and the exploding amulet, Maag retires to the entrance cave.
"If it blows up an' brings der roof down, you will need someone to 'elp dig yer out", he points out.
He takes out his mirror once more, alert for Brutus and any minotaurs that might come running when if it explodes.

Alordan stands puzzled at the dais. He wonders if someone should stand on it and see if works both ways.
Reading the scrawled messages again, he wonders aloud, "Would be great if we can get that stone guy to talk - maybe we could help him with his revenge. Assuming it's him that wants revenge."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andron was thinking of positioning the pole along the east tunnel wall, as each square is 5' that should allow him to turn the 10' pole partially concealed by the wall. Since it's 'ole one boot's idea he'll also do the twisting.
Andronichishche begins to move into position to begin the experiment. "Sir Crestbrook, may I borrow your shield for additional cover during the test?" Before proceeding he replies to Alordan's musing. "Agreed, Mr. Alordan. I am not entirely convinced Brutus is evil in nature. Just very, very insane with grief and anger. He certainly hasn't afforded us the opportunity to parley, though."

Saracen remains at the entrance, watching the inner courtyard for any signs of attack.
I wonder if there isn’t a way to destroy the Dias. Perhaps it is what constrains and powers the stone creature. Maybe.

Cresty
Nay Andron...let me do this. Cresty strikes a majestic pose. I understand the procedure to be followed. Everyone back. When ready let me know and I will attempt to unscrew the scroll case. The paladin holds the pole with his right hand and hides crouches down the best he can behind his shield.
Lerrick
The cleric quickly moves to the entrance of the cave

Oh, the fun typos in this game.
Whoever is twisting the pole can give me a Save vs. Breath, just in case we need one.

save vs breath [1d20+2] = ??? would someone please do the honors. I can't use the dice roller while at work. Why I'm still allowed to post text I have no idea? If no one does roll for me I can make the roll myself in a couple hours.

Andronichishche hands the end of the pole to Crestbrook and moves east along the tunnel twenty feet before crouching down. "Thank you, Sir Crestbrook. You are a credit to the Brotherhood of the indeterminate number of Silver Circles."
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Gramble just stands back near the entrance watching outside for signs of anything coming this way
