Re: OOC Chat III
I've edited my post with dice rolls and the if-then-else logic.
Re: OOC Chat III
Denslow assists with as much luck as needed. Sorry, didn’t realize I was being the log in the road holding up traffic.

I'll get my Round 9 post up by tonight.
Re: OOC Chat III
cool, thanks
Re: OOC Chat III
Howdy,
Still working out the bugs in my understanding of MCC.
Does Farmanus get a free attack of opportunity on #12 because the brute retreated? If so, would that AoO be part of Round 9?

Yes. Please roll the additional attack.Yrkoon wrote:Does Farmanus get a free attack of opportunity on #12 because the brute retreated? If so, would that AoO be part of Round 9?
Re: OOC Chat III
So, Kurot seems to have ended up all alone against all the remaining enemies. Oops.
How quickly can Kurot fall back without opening himself up to a bunch of free attacks?

Re: OOC Chat III
MCC does not have the +4 bonus. It's just a free attack.Yrkoon wrote:I assume these kinds of attacks get a +4 bonus to hit. Please do tell me if I'm wrong.
If he withdraws from melee, any melee opponent gets a free attack. Currently, this is only #5.Zhym wrote:So, Kurot seems to have ended up all alone against all the remaining enemies. Oops.

Re: OOC Chat III
In AD&D, there's a difference between "Run away!" and a "fighting retreat." With the latter, you keep fighting but pull back. Is that something Kurot could do—i.e., not withdraw from melee, but work his way back toward the cart to get away from the other potential melee opponents? Or is that not a thing in MCC?
Re: OOC Chat III
MCC doesn't differentiate. Rules light, I suppose.Zhym wrote:In AD&D, there's a difference between "Run away!" and a "fighting retreat." With the latter, you keep fighting but pull back. If you are moving but still fighting, they don't get a free attack. That would be the "fighting retreat" in my judgement.
#3 is prone with a broken leg, #6 is engage with #13 and #12 is dead.shaidar wrote:Silvestri - round 9
Silvestri focuses his power on #3, #6 and #12 (if still alive)

Gotcha. I've posted an action that I think does what I'm trying to do (but we'll find out!).Norjax wrote:If you are moving but still fighting, they don't get a free attack. That would be the "fighting retreat" in my judgement.
Re: OOC Chat III
Do you / Does MCC use the "set weapon against charge" rule as in AD&D? If so, Farmanus would allow his mates to launch missile attacks while he forms a one-man front line, crouched with his spear set to do double damage to any fool who charges us.
Re: OOC Chat III
No to both. Such a rule is a legacy left over from the wargame mechanics of original D&D. In my opinion, this is only suitable against mounted or chariot charges.Yrkoon wrote:Do you / Does MCC use the "set weapon against charge" rule as in AD&D? MCC does allow a character to charge into combat for a bonus. The PC must move at least half their movement to gain a +2 attack bonus. However, their AC suffers a -2 penalty until the next round.
Re: OOC Chat III
So, on a completely different note, when does a character get new skills slots? I'd still like Silvestri to learn old-onglish.

4th, 7th and 10th.shaidar wrote:So, on a completely different note, when does a character get new skills slots? I'd still like Silvestri to learn old-onglish.
Re: OOC Chat III
Thanks. Hopefully I'll get there one day

Re: OOC Chat III
Ha! This is play-by-post, so don't set your watch - set your calendar!
Re: OOC Chat III
Silvestri is way nicer than me. I would have just put the thought in each of the survivors' minds that the other one was a mortal enemy. I mean, once a person is convinced that someone he thought was his friend is now his mortal enemy, it's not that hard to convince him that someone else—even someone who fought with him against those enemies—is also his mortal enemy. Inducing paranoia is a powerful thing!shaidar wrote:Silvestri keeps his voice low so the beast-men can't hear:
"I've got a bit of healing, and you're at the top of my list Denslow. But first we need to handle the last two beast-men, the effect isn't permanent. Let me see if I can get them to weaken themselves more before we have to finish them off. Everyone be ready in case it doesn't work."
Initiative: [1d20] = 17
He calls out to the two beast-men:
"Mighty warriors! You have proven your loyalty, so much that I have decided that one of you will have the honour of being my primary bodyguard and second in command. But who should have this honour?...In order to prove which of you is the strongest and therefore the most worthy of such an exalted position, you must fight each other until one of you concedes the position or passes out and shows their weakness."
But, sure, maybe a person with ethics and stuff wouldn't kill when unnecessary. It's a lot easier to loot the dead, though.

Re: OOC Chat III
well, with the edict that having them fight to the death might be pushing it I thought I'd get them to weaken themselves so we can kill them easier, so maybe not that nice after all, as they will have to be killed.
I guess I was erring on the side of caution as to what I could get them to do.
