Re: Interest check - Stars Without Numbers (revised version)

OK, so the Codex of the Black Sun is in play.
I'd like you guys to throw out the type of character you want to play and we'll see the kind of group make up we have

I was thinking of playing either a techy or a pilot.
I also just read the rules on playing a VI. For some reason, the thought of playing a sentient hoverbike or gravcar is strangely alluring.

I was going to let the dice decide, I can honestly play anything.
Re: Interest check - Stars Without Numbers (revised version)
I was thinking of some sort of frontier doctor, but I would be ok with rolling.

This is stuck in my head now!
If the Codex of the Black Sun on the table, then I might play play a Space Witch/Astrogator... probably the Pacter class.
If we lean toward harder sci-fi, that is cool too.
Also, I would love to let the dice decide. WIll we determine our own homeworld? Sandbox #2 has sweet Travelleresque lifepath and BG tables.
Re: Interest check - Stars Without Numbers (revised version)
You can base yourselves from a home world if you like.
My original thought was you were heading to a newly discovered planet to explore and gather loot.
If you'd prefer to know each other as say a group of friends or mercenaries I'd be fine that way as well.
Basically I'm giving you guys the chance to set it up.

Gerrin: How long till we have a dedicated board for the game? It might be a better spot for us to figure out the specifics of what kind of game this will be.

Here are my first thoughts on character, ranked in order of interest:
1) Expert
2) Arcanist- Arcane Expert: Arcane Scholar
1) Technician (Engineer)
2) Scholar (Scientist)
3) Spacer
4) Barbarian
5) Vagabond
6) Soldier
I'm also open to rolling for a character, and any and all ideas about character and party background. Lots of options I'd be willing and enjoy playing.
Looking forward to jumping in and brainstorming with the group.

Here is a link to the free Sandbox#2 with one roll lifepath. It is good for a backstory at least.

The Life Event Generator is on Page 4, for the curious.explosiveghast wrote:Here is a link to the free Sandbox#2 with one roll lifepath. It is good for a backstory at least.

The rest of the book is based on the first edition of SWN, so it might not be completely compatible without some minor conversion.

There was a thread on reddit on this subject! Kevin Crawford, the author, had some interesting insights/suggestions on how to make Knight Rider in Space work in a variety of campaigns.personalpariah wrote:I was thinking of playing either a techy or a pilot.

This cannot be a coincidence! Is this someone from this game that posted today?
Someone else is asking how to play a VI vehicle and surrogate body.

This is so great! I really love the ideas being thrown around in that thread. Can't wait for the game to start and see if this is ok with the GM.Liaozhai wrote:There was a thread on reddit on this subject! Also interested if there's still room. I've run revised for my tabletop group so am familiar and am happy to fill gaps with any of a variety of concepts.
