Bregalad the elf

Bregalad assists Marodin in fighting his ogre, using his spear and sword.
TK, how many ogres are left? I thought we were down to one, but there may be two of them left.

Round Five

Grey Jake swings at the tendril attacking Tratiln but misses. Luckily, he also misses Tratiln, who chose that instant to backpedal away from the ogre ever so slightly. Meagnor fires an arrow but missiles. Saul is luckier, and sends a shaft to bury itself in the ogre's meaty chest. Tratiln takes a swipe at the tendril threatening him but misses. The ogre is able to evade Marodin's blow, while the sling stones from both Semele and Drudsa fly wide of their target. Semele's prowess is marred slightly by her shot, which almost takes Marodin's nose off.

Lanny directs one of his magic arrows to strike the tentacle menacing Tratiln and it flies true, striking the vine-like appendage in half just below the tip. The remaining tendril jabs towards Marodin but misses as the cleric lurches forward to avoid Semele's misfire. Bregalad rushes in and, displaying the legendary elven fighting style known as Brwydro yn erbyn Dau llaw pierces the ogre's leg with a well aimed spear thrust, then follows up with a sweeping swordstroke that disembowels the monster. The ogre topples to the ground, dead.

Thordin, meanwhile, jogs deeper into the cave. Upon reaching the other end of the narrow passage he looks out to see a horde of elves -- twenty in number at least, and all pale and ragged -- advancing up the cavern, wielding hammers and rocks. They are moving in what seems to be a trance, and perhaps 50' away.

Tratiln quickly cuts the remaining tendrils. Quickly, let's make sure all the tendrils are destroyed and that these ogres stay down! We need to follow Thordin to try to end this threat once and for all!

Upon seeing the elves marching through, Tratiln will ask, "Do we have any sleep spells left? We might need them. I doubt they will follow us outside, like the ogres refused to do.

Looking around, Tratiln will try to find rags or anything else that might burn. One idea, thought it maybe risky for everyone is fill the place with smoke!

"Zombies - I hate zombies" sighs Grey Jake. "Let's finish off these tentacles then get out of here. Draw them into the open, circle around behind them and rush that cube"

Thordin the dwarf will back up, alerting the rest of the group.

"More elves! I can't get away from elves! And these look like they've been at the poppy again!"

Grey Jake has a great idea, I would like to second that motion.

Meagnor the elf agrees: "We should at least try to attract them to the outside. Thinking on Elyenya's behavior when we bound her, I'm afraid some of these elves would die if we fill this place with smoke."

There is one "active" one that will require to-hit rolls. The other is still attached to the dead ogre and cab only be auto-severed if it doesn't have a chance to detach.

Marodin the Cleric says, "Let's try to lead them away from the tendril creature, before we smoke them out or use our Sleep spells on them. Perhaps distance from the tendrils will break the charm?"

Bregalad the elf

Bregalad will sever the tendril still attached to the last ogre. If someone else gets to it first, then he will attack the one that is still flailing.
I believe Lanny also stated he would use his second magic missile on the flailing tentacle.
Makofan wrote:Grey Jake....."Let's finish off these tentacles then get out of here. Draw them into the open, circle around behind them and rush that cube"
Bregalad also likes Grey Jake's plan, but fears a grim possibility for the group. "Let those who face the creature also carry a rowan shield for protection. A charmed Thordin or Marodin or Drudsa could defeat us all!"

Round Six

Lanny directs his remaining missile to speed towards the last tendril. It hits, glancing off the tentacles armored shaft and sending bits of metallic gore flying. Bregalad, with a casual swipe of his sword, severs the tendril still connected to the defeated ogre. Jake and Marodin both attempt to land blows on the weaving, bobbing tendril but are unsuccessful. Tratiln, however, brings his sword about in an elegant arc and cuts it into two sections.

The cavern falls quiet, except for the shuffling sound of the approaching elves.

Lanny the elf

As the last tendril falls and all grows quiet, Lanny turns to Drudsa.

"Thank you for the potion... It is not the the first time my life has been saved by this group, and I don't suppose it will be the last time..."

As the sound of the approaching elves grows louder, Lanny listens to the report by Thordin and the discussions of the group.

"The creature in the cube has likely directed the charmed elves to attack its enemies... But without its tendrils to be able to see into this room, the charmed elves will have only their own eyes to guide them... I suggest that we follow Jake's suggestion and leave the caves and hide in the woods, except for Quinthos. Quinthos, see if you can draw them away from the caves, back towards the village, and then keep moving them in a circle around the village perimeter... Just be sure to move faster than they do, as your life may depend on it... Once they have left the caves, the rest of us can slip back into the caves and confront the creature in the cube. If we can defeat it, it should break the charm and free the elves. What do you all think?"
