Ko-Nan recoils at more cowardly wizard creations! He attacks!

Attack: THACO (20): [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3 / Damage: (S/M: [2d4+1] = 6+1 = 7 / L: [3d4+1] = 6+1 = 7)

OOC: You sure I can't close that door!? ;)

Beneath the Dead Wizard's Skyscraper
Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Three. Midday, March 27th, 912 CY

The explorers of the dead wizard's skyscraper hesitate for a moment and the strange machine-man amalgams seize the advantage, brutally savaging Garamond with crude blades of sharpened steel! (-9hp!)

"...fresh parts..." they groan, trying to push Garamond back or cut a path through him!

Chaka the ape-boy scampers away from the fray, joining Tullia as she peers down the eastern corridor, looking for a way out of this! Her half-elvish eyes find no warmth within the thin hallway's dark shadows.

Maskelyn the conjurer weaves audible deception out of thin air, causing the low sound of a muffled explosion to erupt amid the rank ranks of clockwork flesh! BOOM! As the eerie half-humans scan for the cause, the gnome trickster darts away!

Adrock holds forth his holy symbol and calls upon the power of his lord Tee-Eme-Zee as he sings a sacred psalm from blessed scriptures. But his holy invocation has no effect!

Fiefo the ratman lunges into the fray, stabbing his scimitar diagonally through the open door, piercing rotten flesh and hitting iron bone!

Ko-Nan the barbarian also charges into battle but his huge ax doesn't clear the doorframe! KRASH! And Garamond retaliates against a fellow cyborg, but his buzzing hand drill cannot penetrate its breastplate!

Garamond emits a shriek of electronic pain, and attempts to bring his drills to bear against the nearest cyborg.

Maskelyn

Having used his spells, Maskelyn sheds his pack behind an egg and readies his staff. He begins a prayer to The Grey One.

Hey, Doc! We're kinda in a spot, here. Any chance you can pay some special attention to The Tin-Pants gang over dere? Or maybe gimme some kinda idear to beat dese guys? Gee, Thanks, Doc!

Even as he speaks, an idea is forming. Fall Back! Let 'em come to you! All of you- fall back! he shouts.

Tullia

...is going to step into the hallway and look around. She assumes that if there is something alive down the hall her vision will pick it up. Otherwise, she will light a touch.

Unwilling to confront another enemy in his dilapidated condition, Chaka the ape-boy follows behind Tullia as she searches the next passage for a possible escape route for the others.

Beneath the Dead Wizard's Skyscraper
Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Three. Midday, March 27th, 912 CY

"...fresh parts..."

On the battle's front line, the adventurers get a sense that the eerie, rotting figures are in fact corpses propelled into motion by their rusting, jury-rigged machinery; cadavers made into ghoulish clockwork marionettes! Having outlived their symbiotic hosts, the strange machines continue on with relentless determination in their mysterious purpose.

Maskelyn prays to his sacred trickster god, the Grey One, and cries out that they should retreat! Believing they've found a way out, Tullia the ranger and Chaka the ape-boy step into the darkened eastern corridor to scout it. But Tullia is soon in total darkness, blind! Her half-elven eyes detect no warmth.

Adrock the sorcerer-priest of antiquity chants another hymn from long lost 'Earth That Was' to ensorcel their foes in an enchanted slumber!

Suddenly, in their rear ranks, where the spell was directed, four of the macabre things groan in unison in a detached monotone: "...entering hibernation mode..." Their inhuman eyes dim and they stand completely motionless!

The attacks of Fiefo and Garamond are spoiled by the white doorframe that limits the aperture of their violence.

But Ko-Nan the barbarian lands a fell handed blow! His fearsome great ax amputates an enemy's arm at the shoulder (C2)! Rotten blood sprays rhythmically from the sheared stump but the unnatural creature fights on unfazed, stabbing at Ko-Nan and slicing only air!

But another cogswheel corpse (C1) brutally impales Fiefo's chest with a shard of iron! (7hp damage!)

Tullia

Finding she can detect no life forms, she steps back to where there is enough light. She gets out a touch and lights it. Afterwords, she will look down the corridor again.

Maskelyn

Maskelyn can't contribute much, being in the rear ranks. He holds his staff in a combat-ready grip, prepared to step in if the warriors fall.

Ko-Nan sees and hears nothing but the corpses of the dead continuing unabated. He smashes down again against these abominations!

Chaka waits for the torch to be lit and follows along with Tullia once she is ready to explore more of the side hallway.

"Maybe we sneak up behind them from this passage."

Tullia

As she starts down the corridor, she quietly speaks to Chaka.I don't know about that, Chaka, but that room was getting too weird. With luck, we won't find something else that wants us for dinner. She will cautiously move forward, examining the hall as she goes. It is odd that there are no witch lights here, given how bright the octagonal room was.

Now, if we could only convince folks to think first before doing stupid things, we might survive this trip.

The unsettling fusions of rotten flesh and rusted steel murderously stab Garamond without mercy! (-6 to hp)

In the rear ranks, one eerie half-man awakens another from its hibernation state!

To the east, Tullia the elf gets a torch alight and illuminates a long white corridor that ends with a white door. 'Strange that it's so dark here,' she thinks when suddenly the tile beneath her foot drops an inch! Instantly, Chaka is swallowed up by the floor behind her! The trap door is in poor working order, and sticks for a second, giving Chaka a fleeting chance to grab its edge before he plummets through! (Roll Dex or lower on 1d20)

Behind them, Jeojand emulates Adrock's success and purrs magic words to send more of the mechanized cadavers into a catnap! All of them but one murmur, "...entering hibernation mode..." and cease all motion.

In a grisly harvest of crimson, Ko-nan the barbarian savagely buries his ax into the half-iron face of the last creature standing, and the battle is over!

Scowling, Fiefo pants with exertion and pain. If it seems possible to “coup de gras” the remaining sleeping freaks, he will begin doing so. “I don’t want to have anything else to do with these goons. They’re unnatural!” says the small, fur covered rat man, tail quivering as he sets to work.
