Trying to remain hidden, Sky stays as quiet as she can. She starts mentally preparing a sleep spell for the remote possibility that the goblins would see through her excellent illusion.

Is this an official 'Ready' action, where being spotted is the trigger?Monsieur Rose wrote:Sky

The sorcerer will keep an eye on the goblin patrol. If they notice him or Sky, he will cast Magic Missile, sending one bolt at each goblin. If he and Sky remain unnoticed, he will allow the goblins to go past.

Re: Session 2: Return to the Citadel
Initiative Order
Round 2
Sky attempts to remain hidden behind her masterful illusion, but begins to mentally prepare her 'Sleep' spell, which she would release if the goblin bandits spot her, just in case.
Kelben reminds Meepo of the two goblin guards behind them, in case the freed kobold prisoners are looking to escape, then quickly turns to Erky. "Do you wish to flee, or stick with me and my companions?" he asks the newly freed gnome prisoner. Erky eagerly accepts the offer to join, and the two daggers from Keblen. The two gnomes return to the two fallen goblin archers and perform a quick inspection which reveals two short bows, 12 regular arrows, and dozens of practice arrows. After previously taking the key off of one goblin, the only other item of note they discover is a full, silver flask of dwarven make. "Any idea where they put your gear you had?" Kelben asks Erky, but the gnome shares that he was bound, with a bag over his head, so he has no idea where he is, or how he got here, or where any of his possessions are.
The goblin bandits slowly creep into the haze filled corridor, their pointy ears twitching as they intently look all around them. "Dar daan dhon?" the lead goblin says in the familiar, but not understood, goblin tongue. "O maar tuulkaakhec, kec? A maar tuulkaakhec." They stop, and wait, and don't appear to notice those hiding behind columns. Each of the three continue to look and listen, but from their current position as their progress halts where they are.
While Sky and Klilxuac still have the impression their respective hiding spots remain undetected, the tense moment of hide-and-seek may be nearing an end as the lead goblin reaches for a thin rope necklace and, grabbing a whistle suspended at the the end of it, brings it to its mouth and issues what you suspect is a single, shrill alarm or message of some kind.
Klilxuac keeps his eyes peeled on the goblin patrol, prepared to unleash his 'Magic Missile' spell if either he or Sky are detected. They don't appear to be, but, seemingly in response to the goblin whistle, additional activity is heard from behind him, somewhere. As the dragonborn is pressed against the far corner of the current chamber, he suspects there are adjoining rooms behind them.
To complicate the situation even further, his 'Light' cantrip, which he has been keeping almost completely hidden in his hand, expires leaving the dragonborn sitting in almost complete darkness.
Meepo and the kobolds begin chirping at each other. Kelben, the only one close enough to hear, sense the exchange grow angry, but is unable to understand what is being said. Meepo seems to be pleading with the trio of freed kobold prisoners, but the three turn and flee, back in the direction of the goblin guards.
Hargrem remains ready, standing quietly and as hidden as possible.

Kelben grabs the bows and the arrows that are not for practice then goes back to Meepo "Where did they go?" he asks on alert then hands over a bow and the arrows to Erky. "We'll likely need these soon." the other bow he offers to Meepo. daggers have been removed on DNDBeyond.

Though, he thought stealth was the best plan, it seems that Tymora had other plans for the group. He heard the whistle emanating from the chamber that Sky and Klilxuac had entered. The cleric needed to get in there and help the others. With his shield raised and his mace at the ready, he entered the fray. He yelled to the others, Get me some light!

Round 3
"Where did they go?" Kelben asks Meepo as he passes the kobold guide one of the goblin bows and half the arrows. "They leave," Meepo replies as he accepts the weapon. Kelben passes the second bow and other half of the arrows to Erky suggesting that they'll likely need them soon.
Almost as soon as the words are out of Kelben's mouth, the door behind them is thrown open and a trio of goblins bursts in! The first goblin bandit finds an exposed area in Hargrem's armor (-8) with its scimitar before the cleric can even wheel around to take in the unexpected attackers. The remaining two goblin bandits double team Erky, slicing him repeatedly with their scimitars, nearly killing the freed gnome prisoner.
The original trio of goblins, inside the hazy corridor, spread out slightly and take a few steps towards the the storage room. After each step, the whistle blower in the lead stops and listens, and smells, and strains its eyes as it attempts to locate the suspected intruder... but somehow both Sky and Klilxuac appear to avoid detection.
Klilxuac, without sight after his 'Light' spell was extinguished moments earlier, does not have visual contact with the goblins any longer. Careful to leave the pebble he has been illuminating hidden almost completely in his grasp, he re-casts his cantrip.
As the goblin bandits converge on the group in front of him, Meepo cowers behind the makeshift 3-foot wall and hides.
Hargrem, wincing from the pain in his side after the goblin bandits ambushed them from the back, spins and reflexively releases his 'Sacred Flame' cantrip, causing a flame-like radiance to crash down on his goblin foe; its skin begins to melt as it succumbs to a splash of devastating radiant damage.
Elky, heavily wounded, disengages from his goblin adversaries and leaps to the top of the 3-foot wall before tumbling over to the opposite side in a controlled manner. He pins himself against the back of the wall, and spies Meepo doing the same across from him.
Once Elky vacated the area, Kelben springs in with his rapier and provides the third goblin bandit a new hole it wasn't born with, killing it. The obvious sound of the new conflict springing up attracts the attention Sky and Klilxuac, plus the other goblin bandits in the hazy room.
---
Because of how things played out with the initiative order being what it is, quite a few actions needed to be modified. Sky keeps his bolt and Klilxuac retains his spell (again).
Kelben's sneak attack damage wouldn't have applied... but it didn't matter.

The cleric was surprised by the door flying open. He fully expected the fight to be in the direction of the whistle blower, but he thought wrong. The whole camp must be on to us by now, he said to Kelben. He lifted his shield and made a small incantation on the remaining goblin in the room. It was much smaller than an elephant, though.

Round 4
Sky, whom along with Klilxuac, remains hidden undetected in the hazy corridor, remains concealed behind the veil of her illusion. She keeps her hand crossbow readied, just in case their locations are detected.
With only one bandit remaining in the archers area, Kelben attempts to reduce that count even further, but is unable to connect with his rapier. Erky quickly peers over the wall to gauge the status of the ongoing conflict he fled from, and is relieved to see the threat almost completely eliminated, but remains hidden and attempts to staunch the seeping blood from his wounds. Meepo remains hidden as well.
The original goblin bandits, still unaware of the existence of Sky and Klilxuac, rush towards the sound of the neighboring battle. The settle into the storage room, which divides the hazy chamber and target range. They slow to a crawl and appear to remain hidden from Kelben.
In the archers area, the remaining goblin bandit lashes out at Kelben with its scimitar, but the rogue is able to easily avoid the jabbing blade.
Unaware at the moment that the goblins have fled the columned chamber he's in, Kliluxac opens his hand with the newly illuminated pebble, allowing the purple glow to spill into room. Stepping out of the corner and into the center of the narrow chamber, the dragonborn looks to his right and sees nothing. Looking left, he spots the goblins attempting to creep up on their rogue companion. After uttering the magic words, and performing the necessary gestures, a trio of purple bolts project from the sorcerer's outreached hands and unerringly strike the unsuspecting targets!
"Dar daan?" the goblin bandits yell, almost in unison. "Duun drel dar? Haar daal!" they cry, wheeling around to face the hazy chamber, where they now see the dragonborn sorcerer.
Sky, triggered by the goblin hostility and awareness of their location, steps out and lets loose a bolt from her hand crossbow which, striking it squarely in the chest, drops it.
"The whole camp must be on to us by now," Hargrem says to Kelben before lifting his shield and attempts to duplicate the success of his last 'Sacred Flame' cantrip by casting it at the remaining bandit, but, because of the caution he takes to avoid including Kelben in the arc of flames, the bandit is able to slip out of harms way as well. The two original bandits, both injured, appear poised to rush Klilxuac (and Sky), while the one remaining bandit in the archery rooms seems content to continue its contest against Kelben and Hargrem.

Hargrem
The cleric grunted as his spell missed its mark. Then, he saw what he feared most, more goblins coming from the other doorway. He moved to confront the onslaught and lifted his shield and repeated the incantation.

Kelben continues fencing with the goblin in front of him.

Sky reloads and fires at the next closest goblin. Her desire to end this quickly results in exquisite aim.
